  1. Bought the Macro MA-10FE, have been using it for like 3 months now. It works well once you know how to use it, but to me it's quite troublesome coz u must wake the heater up from sleep by switching the power button that is on the heater itself (not the power socket), then on your water tap in the toilet (just on and off) to get the heater to run, then wait a few seconds for the water to heat up, then u have let the cold water that is in the pipe in between the heater and the tap run out, before u finally get the hot water. too troublesome and time laggy if u ask me. Don't know how much cost savings it brings me, but based on this experience if I got more money I wld go for an electric water heater cheers.
  2. I am in the process of getting my blinds done by Jimmy’s Textiles @ Tanjong Katong Com[plex, and my experience has not been a positive one for the following reasons: 1. They probably outright lied about being able to do a custom-made L-shaped shower rod: a. I initially called them to ask if they can do up a custom-made L-shaped shower rod for me and this lady Stephanie told me that they can, so I went down to the shop and ordered our blinds and shower rod from them. When their contractor went down to my house to take measurements, they informed us that they cannot do the shower rod and referred me elsewhere. 2. On the 2 trips that they come down to my house, they only told me what time they will come the day before. a. This makes it extremely inconvenient for me because I cannot plan my weekend. And they don’t tell you early, on the day before I had to call them myself in the afternoon to get them to tell me what time they are coming the next day. So essentially my experience with them is that they are rather irresponsible and very inconsiderate with their customers’ time, almost like “ha I got your business already, I don’t really have to care about you.” I cannot really comment on their prices, because I only got quotations from another shop but I did not go down to choose the material and get exact quotations, so from what I see they are not cheap but not expensive. On the plus side, they have quite a lot of blinds designs to choose from, a number of which are very nice. So it’s for you to form your own opinion, my personal experience has been a rather negative one.
  3. I just came back from Tampoi Lighting yesterday. I was specially looking for ceiling fans with bright lights for my HDB. I especially value bright lights and I am very pleased with my trip there because I found pretty nice fans with bright lights. I previously looked at the fan options in the Geylang Lorong 44 belt, and based on the prices there and the brightness of the lights I saw and the reviews I found online for the different brands, I am very pleased by my purchase. I have not installed my fans of course, and will try to post a follow up review after I use them for a few months. I estimate that I saved 40%, but there are other hidden costs to buying a fan from Malaysia like unavailability of fan parts, warranty issues, etc, which I have not accounted for. I bought the following: · Fanco Galaxy S8 WD 52’ Fan + 2 Philips LED bulbs + 2 fan hooks – RM 543 (SGD 177 based on 3.06 exchange rate) o Search on carousell for picture, a few people selling . Got the dark wood colour, very very nice colour. o This fan is really nice, wind is strong. · NSB N LGD 56’ Fan (comes with bright LED round light panel) + 2 fan hooks – RM 467 (SGD 153 based on 3.06 exchange rate) o Available in black & white, can’t post link here. Go to ‘NSB switch on life style’ fb page and look under the pictures for a ceiling fan that says ‘white on white’ and that is the fan I bought o I bought this mainly because the LED light is really bright, relatively nice, wind is strong. I had never heard of NSB before. Shop guy told me that it is a Malaysian product, and when I asked if it is lasting, he said that they also sell 1000+ fans. Some reviews I found online are: · “NSB fans are good: sturdy and does not wobble like Deka ceiling fans.” – Jun 2014 · “bought 2 units ceiling fan from Puchong but now after 5 months already kaput...1st and 2nd speed same very slow, only 3rd speed strong wind...seems 2nd speed not functioning.” – Jul 2013 I just read that HT Lighting in JB sells their fans for cheaper but less selection. You can probably call them first to ask for pricing. Hope these help to inform your decisions.
