  2. My ceiling fan is actually sort of in between the sofa and the dining table, so the wind can actually reach it. Yeah it will be stuffy if there's no fan.
  3. Hi! The glass door was from the contractor! The frame is aluminium. There are stainless steel ones as well, but more expensive.
  4. 1. The other common room is empty for now haha. No plans for it yet 2. There will be a TV in the living room; just that we still haven't decided on a TV console table to buy. The TV is currently sitting in the other bedroom

  6. Hi Mangadoctor! We got our bean bag chairs from http://www.ambientlounge.sg ! They have quite a few cool designs and colours!
  7. So over the past 2 weeks, we were busy with choosing our electrical appliances and receiving deliveries etc! Chemical washing was also completed; though the floor still feels a bit dusty even after mopping everyday Defects were minor and few (mainly with carpentry, just a few scratches here and there that could be covered up easily), and they were dealt with promptly by our contractor! We are still in the process of moving in things bit by bit, and sourcing for more furniture, though we estimate to fully move in only in May Some photos to share! Still undecided on our living room TV console Our 1.8m long dining table! At first we thought it would be too long (with the chairs) but it turned out great! Really love the warm glow of the Edison bulbs Our nesting table, Tiffany blue sofa from Castlery. Cushions from Taobao! Comfortable bar chairs from Castlery! Our entertainment room! Bean bag lounge chair set!
  8. Hi lux! Our tiles are from Harfary! Haha and we didnt pay extra for the shaker style doors! And yes, it is a standard 5room. I think it looks big because the space really opened up after we hacked the kitchen wall!
  9. Hi cat! There's like a 30-40cm gap between the sink and hob. Yeah I think we do have more counter space because we decided to forgo the built in oven/microwave. That saved quite a bit of space I guess. Was thinking we will just keep the oven in the storeroom and whip it out when we need to use it!
  10. Heh heh thanks!! Can't wait to furnish our house! Yup, at first we decided to give up on Kompacplus completely (because we can't stand the thin-ness of it) and just want to get something like a butcher block countertop, which will look more pleasing to the eye, especially for the kitchen island. However, our contractor advised against that because a solid wood countertop is not durable, prone to stains, and easily scratched. We were aware of these as well . Then lo and behold, he said it is possible to make a "thicker" Kompacplus top, and proceeded to send us photos of his previous projects where he did these thicker countertops. We were ecstatic because we didn't know it was possible! So he did it by installing an extra thick piece of solid plywood on the top first (photos from before CNY), followed by "laminating" the top and sides of that solid plywood with Kompacplus. But the "wrapping" of the sides will incur extra costs, because apparently it requires some effort from the Kompacplus guys to make the "bend" at the sides. So we paid an extra $700+ for them to "zhng" both the island and kitchen countertop. money well-spent, I would say
  11. Woohoo~~~ Reno is almost done! Let the pictures do the talking! Bomb shelter door painted black! Main door Spider lights with Edison bulbs Living room Island Kompacplus countertop up! Kompacplus, Boston Cherry. Kompacplus countertop usually comes in 6mm thickness but we felt that it was too thin for our liking, especially for the island. So we got our contractor to increase it to a whooping 40mm! Kitchen cabinet countertop, with Bosch hob Blanco Pleon 8 Sink Black doors with black frames Frosted glass door for toilets
  12. Hi, sorry for the late reply. Haha I am not sure exactly what is the area of the living room + 3 bedrooms My total floor area is 114sqm, though. Yup it is more difficult to lay long tiles. And they are prone to lippage,
  13. Hi there, not sure whether he charged us extra because the labour cost was lumped together with the cost of the tiles in the quote. Our flooring costs us about $10k in total ($4.50PSF tiles) for the living room and the three bedrooms. Did you try asking him for the reason? I do think it is more tedious to lay plank tiles than square tiles, though.
  14. Haha actually some of them are chosen by me like the fake plants etc. I was gushing over the cute little saucers too hahaha. Who can resist?!
  15. Since currently there is a lull time in updates, I shall have a post on our Taobao loots! We used Peeka as our forwarder. Not sure whether the shipping rates are competitive as compared to others but I like their ordering system and interface. Neat and fuss-free! A peek at the stuff we bought:
  16. Hi Sapphire, we thought so too heh heh! Looking forward to see your completed home! Maybe we can all visit one another's houses soon haha!
  17. Hi yakult! Congrats on finishing your reno! Anw I think we might be neighbours! Near a CC with ntuc in the east?
  18. WOOHOO CARPENTRY IS UP~! Well, almost 90% done! Just left the knobs to be installed, Blanco sink and Bosch hob to be put in, and our "zhng-ed" Kompacplus countertops which will be ready after CNY Really quite satisfied with the carpentry workmanship, the shaker style edges of the cabinet doors are flawlessly done, and the ABS trimmings cover all the edges quite well. Impressive! Some photos to share! Black photo ledge is up! Our carpenters kindly helped us to install it! Kitchen island as seen from the living room! Closer view of our open concept kitchen! Love how it is still so spacious despite having such a big island in the middle! Our kitchen cabinets, flawlessly done! We chose a woody white laminate to contrast the dark teak laminate of our island. BLUM drawers for all both island and cabinets! BLUM hinges for the dish rack cabinet! In order to flush this cabinet with the hood, the rack will be a tad higher than normal. Guess I will be the one washing the dishes Looking out of the kitchen towards our gaming/study room glass door Our sideboard with a laminate countertop! Our still-spacious walkway towards the rooms! Shoe cabinet built into the recess beside the main door! L-shaped wardrobe in MBR! MBR bathroom vanity top and cabinet. Awaiting our Iquartz top and the mirror door! Work will cease for now and will resume after CNY! Stoked!
