  1. PM-ed!! Think I love my kitchen the most! Hahaha. PM-ed!!
  2. Everything has been delivered! Pending moving this weekend! It has been a fun and exciting journey, bringing conceptualization to realization. I would recommend J&E as J takes great pride in his worksmanship, coupled with his many years of experience as a carpenter. It might take some time for them to respond to your queries, but rest assured that they will always get back. I prefer to call them, and follow up with a confirmation via whatsapp as I find that they are more responsive over calls. Hope the pictures tell the story! Living Room [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Kitchen [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] MBR [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] BR2 & 3 [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] All the best to all who are doing/going to start their renovation!! Enjoy the process!!
  3. Helloooooo fellow J&E buddy! Hope your journey with them is fruitful! There will be MANY hair pulling decisions to make but its all worth it once you see the progress!
  4. PM-ed you!! Hey pipsqueak! Unable to PM you! Guess your mailbox is full with people asking for Nick's contact!! Let me know once you've cleared so I can pm you! Very nice Reno btw!!
  5. OMGGGGGG!! I'm finally back! Been very superduper busy with the renovations/coordinating deliveries/wifey's pregnancy! Yes! Wifey is preggers! So happy to welcome our little bun in the oven to join us in half a year's time! More on our renovations progression as we have taken over our place from J&E and just minor rectifications to be done before we can move in! Our taobao stuffs were delivered by Oops.sg without much problems other than a week's delay. But all's well as everything arrived and nothing went missing and Paul was very responsive over whatsapp on the statuses. 2cbm worth of loots and definitely saved much more as compared to purchasing locally. Signed up for prime and was was tempted to buy more things! Those who are renovating their house now should totally sign up for EZbuy Prime and add all the bulky furniture like tv console/coffee table/lights into the Prime Wishlist! Seems like they approve everything you add from TB and Tmall! Save you a lot on shipping costs! [/IMG] Lights have all been installed by the electrician and all looks good! Kiasu me scared that it would be too dim, thus purchasing VERY bright lights for the bedrooms! [/IMG] [/IMG] Toilet Lights [/IMG] Storeroom lights [/IMG] Walkway lights [/IMG] Living room lights [/IMG] Dining lights [/IMG] Living room fan has also been delivered and installed by Elmark. Wind generated is still not too bad. Will take more photos tomorrow. Curtains have also been sourced and installed by a local family owned company. Very very good service from Jeffrey! Compared quotes and his price is lower than what a Malaysian company quoted. Less than 1k for 2 sets of night curtains and 4 sets of day curtains! He also threw in 3 free cushions for our sofa! Love the extra sincerity he gives! Would definitely recommend him! Support local business and economy!! [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Furniture delivery from Cellini is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday! Will take more photossss soon!
  6. Hi Pm-ed you! Hey! They matched the grey tiles with grey grouting! Pm-ed you the contact!
  7. Hi lalashir! E is generally a nice guy. Certain stuffs which are small costs, try asking if he could absorb the cost. Here a little, there a little, adds up to a tidy sum!
  8. I think it arrived fabricated in "shaker style" already as it was all wrapped up. Communicate with your contractor! Show him photos and ask. There might still be time if it's done wrongly now
  9. These are laminates! From the Lamitek series:)
  10. Week 6 New gate and main door have been installed. But there's a hiccup! The main gate is supposed to be powder coated white to match our windows, but E made a mistake and ordered a black steel gate instead! Was fuming when he asked if I could accept it. I told him that it was his mistake and to remove and have it replaced with a powder coated white gate. He admitted that it was his fault and was willing to replace it, it would cost him $480 to make a new gate. Wifey was more forgiving and said that she is okay with the gate. The main door was refurbished with matching laminates from our shoe cabinet which also had black frames, thus, wifey said that it could match. Mehhhhhhh. Happy wife, happy life. So we came to a consensus with E and he threw in additional free stuffs for us for this inconvenience. [/IMG] [/IMG] Carpentry have also been installed and we are now waiting for our kitchen and bathroom quartz top to be measured and installed. Shoe Cabinet [/IMG] MBR Wardrobe [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Chest of Drawers / Side Tables / Headboard We are going to throw away our current headboard as there was insufficient walking space in front of our bed due to the depth of our current headboard. J recommends at least 50cm of walking space. So we had J customize a built in headboard for us. Tip for anyone signing up with them: If you are looking to customize a built in vanity for your make up, change it to a chest of drawers instead. They charge a flat price for vanity and my chest of drawers cost much lesser than that as it is by per foot run, and it can hold more things! We had the top drawer's interior customized to fit le wifey's accessories. [/IMG] Notice that my switches are the usual white MK switches which isn't what I was looking for. Apparently, E forgot to mention to the electrician that I wanted the LeGrand Mallia series for all my built in switches. I managed to catch the electrician on Saturday while he was installing the switches and I told him that I had mentioned to E many times regarding the switches. He headed out to purchase the switches I requested and did up everything the same day. MBR Bathroom Vanity [/IMG] Shower Feature Wall [/IMG] Bedroom 2 Wardrobe I had closed both doors on the wrong side, thus the slanted lines. [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] TV Feature Wall [/IMG] Kitchen Cabinets Loving the shaker style cabinets! Matches our herringbone flooring perfectly! [/IMG] [/IMG] Dish Rack [/IMG] Condiments Tray [/IMG] Common Bathroom [/IMG] Now we are currently waiting for our taobao shipment to arrive before they can install the lights and other miscellaneous stuff. This reno journey has indeed been fun, and I would recommend anyone to J. J is the boss and he has a lot of experience in this field and can provide a solution to any problems faced on the spot. Given a choice again, I would have insisted that J took up the project management of my place as I find myself more relieved whenever he's at my site supervising the works. E is more of a project management person and at times, forgets the things we discussed which can be quite frustrating as that causes hiccups and no one likes to handle last minute problems. However, he is the person to go to for free small items and cost cutting! If the items are indeed small costs, e.g. T5 lighting, LED Strips, mirror, he would absorb the cost if possible. That's the thing I like about him. Till the next update!
  11. Yeah! Can only fit 9ft counter space and 4ft at the opposite side after fridge and tall unit installation. My carpentry is completed so will take some photos this weekend! Question, after hacking the walls for the kitchen, where do you intend to place you kitchen light switch?
  12. Hey lak! We have the exact same layout! Enjoy your Reno journey!
  13. Update New windows installed Aircon 1st installation and boxed up 1st coat painting complete Room doors selected Toilet doors selected Kitchen and toilets tiling completed Vinyl installed We've been BUSYYYYYYYYYY the past 2 weeks! Going down to the relevant shops to complete our payments for our toilet accessories, hood hob oven delivery, sink delivery to get the carpentry portion sorted out. Last weekend, E brought us to a couple of places to select our veneer doors and we only saw 1 which we liked at the 1st stop. However, salesperson told us it was sold out and they are not bringing anymore in! Went to 2nd stop and looked through their doors but did not fall in love with any and was about to make a half hearted decision when the salesperson from the 1st shop called and said that they could squeeze 4 doors for us! Super happy as we headed back to the shop to reserve it. Met a lovely couple who wanted that door too but too bad it was out of stock. [/IMG] We had a hard time selecting the paint colors as we were stuck between neutral tones, or going for bright bold colors! In the end, went with what the wifey selected and BOY ARE THE COLORS BRIGHT! My gaming room became a tiffany blue room! [/IMG] Bedroom 2 was of a more subtle purplish lilac as we wanted it to be cosy and soothing as it will be the baby's room in the future! [/IMG] Carpentry was delivered on Saturday! We weren't expecting that as we were told that carpentry installation would be on Monday! Now, we're looking forward to see the installed carpentry tomorrow! Some photos to show the progress! [/IMG] [/IMG] MBR Wardrobe door Love the dark wood shade [/IMG] Internal Colored PVCs [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Excited that the renovation is progressing without much hiccups. Will post more photos when carpentry is up tomorrow!
  14. Hi! PM-ed you! Loves the herringbone flooring too! Grey grouting used to match the grey colored tiles! PM-ed you!
  15. Hi MiiMoo! PM-ed you! Hi ricepapergirl! are you looking for contractor for your Reno or specifically just the windows contact? They have a catalogue of grilles or you can just show them a photo of the grilles you like. PM-ed you my contractor's contact as well!
  16. Everything Taobao It was our first time using Taobao. While researching on how to purchase and using which forwarder to ship our loots over, I came across a VERY detailed explanation on a blog on how to use Oops.sg to ship our stuff. The current rate is $110/cbm which is acceptable to us. Initially, we wanted to purchase all our toiletries from Taobao, but after hearing bad reviews on rusting and leaking, we decided against it and so we only purchase fittings which can be easily changed if damaged! Here are our buys! I hope that this would at least hit or be near 1cbm otherwise very bo hua for the shipping.
  17. Update Tiling works have started and our kitchen floor is done. Loving our herringbone flooring! Will take a better photo when lights are up. Toilet tiling have also been progressing but delayed due to wrong sized window being installed We also changed all our window grilles and windows as the previous one was rusty and old! Managed to get a contact from my dad and the friendly uncle Thomas was very accommodating. His quote was the lowest among 5 companies we have reached out for quotes. However, J&E preferred to use their subcon for window works and managed to pushed their subcon to do our windows at Thomas's rate! Saves us the coordination!
