Hi, The RC objective is to promote social & community bonding, we share information and problem solving, this is just a suggestion as a goodwill for those who think they need to do some arrangement, the choice is on individual. FI. AVIVA do have some products that help.

Dear all, My suggestion is not to rush into investment or insurance for this purpose, check with the back for a short term FD eg. 3 to 6 months renewable, open a CPF IS account with the bank and transfer the fund to FD, there should be some bank can do it. You will not lose much interest on this and the purpose is to cushion for emergencies. Check it out. After HDB transation completed, closed the FD and put back the fund to CPF then decided what to do with the fund. Additional information is that wef 31 Dec 2007, first $20k from OA will be lock for any CPF IS, so if you think you need to set aside some CPF money for emergencies, please do it before 31 Dec 2007. We hope the rest of the neighbours do not mind we post a few question here: 1. How much $ do the GRLs draw from PA? GRLs recieve no $ from PA, yet contribute time and money. 2. How much bonus $ PA or the adviser pay to GRLs if we got all the credit claim. GRLs receive nothing, yet receive residents banding the door on us. Azura, being a PA staff having educated at the JC of NUS, drawing Monthly Salary and Bonus from PA, please try your very best to help the GRLs to achieve the PA objective and goal instead of passing all this remark maybe just because you have bad exprence. Dear Strawberry_pear, If we confirm the flea market, it will be held under Blk 79 void deck, 16 Jan 08 is 3 week b4 CNY (wrong calculation earlier). No, the flea market is only for residents to setup store, we do not engage others vendor to come in, as it is not a commercial event, but if the budget allowed, we can have some popcorn store setup. Residents can sell their secondhand book for the needy, and we will put up banner for publicity and help to bring crowd there. Dear Gadgetman, Sorry, we can't have this service on the notice board, nevetheless, we can help you to set up a 'second hand market day' for the residents to sell their used and unused items at the void deck. We can provide table and chairs with a token charge say $2/- per table & two chair setup. The stall is only allow for residents only and registeration is required. Your can discuss about it and suggest a date which is most suitable day like weekend.

Don't mean to arrow you lar, just as an example. The RC in full is Residents Committee', it is your committee, as long as the committee agreed, it serve residents interest and is according to PA guildlines, we try all our best. Community Bonding is our objective and it never change. Woh, what a long list, this is not a dream, it is possible, we must first have enough helper and volunteer to contribute, but not on personal interest. HDB always like to start without free parking like Blk 60 Lor 5 Toa Payoh last few year ago, they will wait till residents conplain, rc write in letter, than they consider. very sian. But you have to be aware that if the carpark is free, it will invite many shopper to park at your carpark there especially saturday & sunday, there are two chunch around and we are located at TPC and HDB Hub, that is what the residents at Blk 175, 177 to 179, 183 to 186, 191 & 193 having no parking lots during weekday evening and weekend even the Red season lots. What to do, we are located at such a wonderful location which is the heart of Singapore and Central of Toa Payoh Never the less, the rc will write a letter to HDB this week and check it out. CC run their own class and we run ours, we try not to duplicate. But after talking so much, some of the neighbours here still not sure we are real lay. It can be Saturday or Sunday afternoon, we try to arrange some refeshment for the gathering. Most of the time after work, we hang around the rc center, when go home after my childrens sleep than I got time to login this forum. Still have to sleep but also like to see the happening here. We know the merchant association in TPC, some for their member are friendly, we can introduce you to them, we have no confict of interest, but some of you don't feel comfortable, we do not want to invite CBIB or the PA misunderstanding lay.

Dear Xinni, Thanks for the questions. In Toa Payoh Central Division, we have 6 RCs and 1 CC consist of about 10,000 to 12,000 households. The MP for Toa Payoh Central Divsion is Dr Ng Eng Hen, he is the adviser of Toa Payoh Central Grassroot Org. Toa Payoh Central Divison CCC is just beside Blk 79E, all CCCs and RCs are under the umbrella of PA. The nearby RC Center at Blk 86 is belong to Zone '3', they covered Blk 81 to 86 with about 1,800 housholds. Our current RC is at Blk 179 & 191. Zone '2' taken over Blk 78 & 79 plus the nearby blk 69 to 73 recently because we have only 680 residents households at that point of time. We are run by a group of volunteer residents of Toa Payoh Central living in the same zones with you. We organise activities for residents to promote neighbourliness and racial harmony (eg Festival Celebration, Residents Party, Tour & Outing). We also liaise with the relevant authorities to improve the environment, safety and security of the estates, we get to know each other and build rapport with residents, gather feedback from residents; and understand residents’ needs. Blk 78C #01-81 is the new RC Center build to serve residents better, we will be giving up Blk 191 RC center after taking over the new RC center, we have not take over the place and decide what to do with it, this may depend on the majority residents need, that is why we alway try to get feedback from residents. eg if there is a need of space for children, elderly, family or residents & kakis gathering, open tution class, line dance class or even Yoga class, we may consider to open the center for the residents according to the PA guildelines. We have a official e-mail given by the PA, but is very troublesome to use it, any problem we have to call there IT people to help and have to be during office hour, as we are all volunteer, we work during office hour too. We find that it is nothing wrong to use gmail, and most residents know us and they give us their e-mail address, it is just a communication tool, and we can also keep our photo album there. Some RCs have their RC website, but we do not have any member can help us to setup our own website at this point of time. Maybe we can have our own website or forum in future. Please give ideal. all are welcome Dear Jacky777, we do no control prices, some shop operator are friendly and they give discount to our residents. we are the grassroot around this area and make friends around but not all-rounded, some shop operator are very tao, they don't like us, don't know why, maybe our resident complain too much on the shop operator and they though we complain, very bai dan lay. Dear all, Can I kpkp. Storage heater is not practical to use, as I mention earlier, it is not safe for kids. everytime you take shower, you need to boil the 5 ltr to 10 ltr of water for one person at a time unless one bath after another one, so electrical bill will be high. (Oil price go up, electrical bill sure go up) To place the big water tank at the kitchen or bathroom does not look nice, I have seen the 4 Rm 90 sqm kitchen size, the water tank will look very big there. Think about it before you decide.

Go to Blk 190 Toa Payoh Central #01-588 beside KFC, look for Gina, give your model to her and ask her to quote you the price. You can quote that you from Blk 79 residents and refered by the rc chairman. If she carry the Brand, We will inform her to give you best price or try her very best to match the price with some discount. For sure no commission for us. Hi all, If you guy need any electrical items, we can refer you to some Toa Payoh Central neighbourhood store with good discount, no commission for me. Anyway there is only two electrical shop at TPC and one Court super store. We support neighbourhood shop as much as possible, the big company make enough money, unless there price is super super low right. My personal exprience is not necessary to have Storage heater unless you have long bath or you need hot water for basin, it is not safe for kids and electrical bill will increase.

Hi strawberry_pear, It is good for you to be more careful, you should not trust me before we meet right, I think the best place for us to meet is at the rc centre, I will try to fix a date for our meeting, maybe tomorrow I go walk around the block. I mean, the funding of the house warming is not for one unit by one unit, it is a group house warming, we will cater the food and maybe some programme, the venue should be at the sky garden or the roof top garden. We have the $$$ to fund but of cause is limited with budget, that will depend on number of you people response and first come first serve. It is possible to have Dr Ng Eng Hen to be GOH if you guy welcome him and the date is right for him. Are your keen?

Hi Ms White, It is not only about knowing my neighbours, it also for you to know each others and their friends, this may be a best time for you guys to visit each others house to view your creation of your home, and have fun, good food and party at the Sky Garden or Roof Top Garden. House warming is just an occassion, we can have other theme that you may like to surggest.
