  1. i came across a spray paint which the output is the frosted glass feel... dunno if its good, otherwise, u can just DIY some design saw it at the DIY shop in Tiong Bahru Plaza, think its level 2? or 3...?
  2. the shorter the aircon trunking, the better.. u using sys 3 or 4? sys 3 shud b easy, BR 2 n 3 on opp wall, so trunking run from BR 2 across to MBR. I run my trunking thru MBR toilet (the shortest route), the only problem, as the aircon man says, is that running pipe thru toilet means theres problem of "留汗".. ur aircon will sweat bcoz of the temp differences in the toilet (which tends to be higher), thus condensation takes place... but he assure me these will not affect the aircon, just that some ppl find the vapours on piping ugly... as for the MBR, bcoz im using starmax sys 4 (size/height constraint), if i run the pipe on top, i'll have to cut my aircon window frame, i chose not to, so run the pipe downwards, along the aircon window (hmm.. sorry if i confuse u, in short, its not on top). btw, i changed from Mitsubishi Heavy Ind to Mitsubishi Elec starmax bcoz the compressor cannot pass thru the window... just take note... if u hvnt buy aircon, i suggest u measure ur aircon window before buying. I did show them my floorplan that time, still, problem happens.. just take note!
  3. hey yg, show some pics when u got the wink pasted.. u shud go for the circle ones... u stand there and ask ur wifey to paste, just at the position to cover those important areas, hahaha... (just kidding) actually, i think dun nid the door lah... how often u open and close the bathroom door? isnt it troublesome? i checked the price, full set door is abt $500, half like urs about $350... so x, so i dropped off the idea.. (think twice...)
  4. Hi, Someone mentioned here about installing rain shower and planning to use citygas heater (i rem theres another person other than me...) anyway, i've called Citygas to check, the free gas heater is 5L which cannot support rain shower. If u want to use rain shower + gas heater, u have to upgrade to the 10L heater, which cost > $300, moreover the installation cost is higher (this is wat the officer @ citygas told me).. anyhow, just beware and do check up with citygas again when u are planning to install rain shower + gas heater
  5. i'm doing whole hse homogeneous flooring, no particular reason, just for maintenance sake. according to ID, laminate and parquet flooring needs lotsa care, the former is good but if temperature change alot (cold inside, hot outside etc,) the expansion and contraction will make the laminate gap bigger and thus gets looser. The latter is nicer but higher price and if heavy object drops on it causing a dent, it would require servicing by replacing the affected areas. having said that, i guess the principle applies to all, need some level of care
  6. Hi simpleboi, if skirting is part of ur qtn, the no ptoblem, if its not within ur qtn, then u must ask bcoz some ppl qte a separate cost for it. Skirting is whereby the floor and wall tiles meeting point theu do a slight protruding tiling, think 99.9% household sure have, take a look at ur house. Mine's the same tile as the floor tile, though i very much would lilke to do a wooden skirting since i'm havin lotsa wood/dark brown thingy in my theme... my work will resume again nxt week, after they have settled my tiling leg cutting problem..
  7. Hi Alpha, they r nice they claimed easy to peel off, not sure if its so.. i saw it pasted in their retail outlet at Raffles City Shopping Cntr (Anthropology - basement, opp Thai Xpress) and the outlet in parkway parade.. check out the gallery where theres some DIY-ed rooms from customers i've already decided what design i want, will probably go for a bigger pack @ $69 for all aircon (cheaper this way then to get > 1 babypacks @ $29) - aunty mentality - tend to compare !! umm... i'm still very undecisive about the kitchen door, though my ID say i shud if i want dun wan my aircon to get spoilt faster.. i just saw a magazine n popped an idea - mayb wooden door frame + venetian/wooden blinds
  8. Anyone doing suspended vanity top cabinet in toilet? Just wondering what kind of basin u using if u are doing so.. seated or sinked into cabinet type? any idea sharing? hey yg, u bought the wink oredi? i wanted to buy it for toilet bowl and aircon... been checking with them, its water proofing with minor washing is ok.. i'm very keen with their winktailor (big designs for wall), but cost abt $400... guys, check it out, some ideas -> decorate ur aircon, wall... xlan, wink looks good on ur grey wall (the design: http://winkplay.com/product_info.php?cPath...products_id=42) my personal view http://www.winkplay.com
  9. ummm... i was quoted 28 ft (top + botom)... i gathered the actual dimension should be derived by putting the measuring tape along the line huh? i'll try to measure it the nxt time i'm up there (m doing full L shape cabinet with no washing m/c space)
  10. Actually i was having some headache recently re my tilings... the tiles pok ku (convexed?) i dunno if u know wat i mean... my ID said its tiles problem, even the tile company in charge came up to inspect n admitted it... the good thing is that my ID did not shirk responsibility, so, now i'm waiting for remedy - to replace those damaged area... Otherwise, the grout line and spacing not so bad. So, i cant say they are no good but i somehow dun feel good... u know wat i mean? sigh.. bo pian. used tiles, wanted to use wood but my ID say thats in the 90s, no more in trend... Hi lynnie, my ID is Homeworkz.
  11. Hi all, just one question for all who did homogeneous tiling. Do u test the hollowness of the flooring using Goli? or even hammer? in the 1st place do u QC ur homogeneous tiling? Just wondering as i was using goli to pick up the hollowness but ID say this method does not applies to homogeneous tiles but for ceramic tiles way back 1980s...

  15. i did not do any kerb, so mine is a smooth flat entrance. however. just to share on one i saw, for those keen.. the kerb was built as within the space (width) between the door and gate, so no cutting at all... that looks neat, meaning, its like an inverted U. cant remember which unit was that..

  18. ermm... how to shift huh? where do i go to initiate a T-blog? Sorry, abit slow on all these IT stuff
  19. hey simpleboi... dunno if ihis will work for u... although ur ID tell u u can oni select certain price range of tiles... if u choose something a little higher, u can try bargaining to ur ID not to top up amount. No harm tryin if this can help u save cost like mine case, i chosen a $3.80/psf super white homo tiles, that want bo pian i have to top up but for my kitchen tiles, i chosen a tile $2.80/psf though i should be getting a $2.40 for the quotes i engage. So, try bargaining to ur ID to cut some cost.. Lightings, m not sure.. somehow i feel i've been eater oredi.. so cant help
  20. sorry, been away.. hmm.. i bought my lightings from different sources: Carrefour 1 Chandelier in BR 3 - $343 10 PLC light in living rm - $384 *** 4 halogen light in living rm 8 PLC light in MBR 1 E27 bulb in store 2 bulb in kitchen above $450 after discount Ikea 2 toilet lights - $70 1 pendant light in BR 2 - $14 just to sidetrack abit... whats the different btw community blog and Reno t blog? how can i migrate my blog to reno t blog? Thanks.

  22. hi fatbear, do u mean if i install gas heater, we have only 1 bathroom using hotwater at 1 time? the gas leaking thingy... i think not so suay arh.. singapore govt safety standard shud b trusthworthy... re the heat emitting.. is it really bad? i bought the storage tank 15L at $180 but the tank MUST BE installed on the wall outside common toilet...i really wish to change to gas heater leh.. anybody can share their view on use of gas heater? I am using rain shower head, does it affect?
  23. Hi fatbear, i have actually purchased the electric heater tank 15L type, cost around $138 or $183... can't remember.. but i've decided to change to gas heater. Rmours has it that the gas type is more cost saving but is slower in heating up, but the electrician told me there should be no difference in time needed to heat up, so, dunno who is right.. most important, i dun wan the bulky tank which can oni b installed right on top of that wall outside common toilet... another plus point - gas heater is free
  24. my ID told me some company do that; get the customer, then carpentry done is Msia to cut cost... eg, the wooden laminate on cabinets, if u see those colorful display in all ID offices... they show u lamitak laminate but when doing, they use Msia brand, not actual lamitak brand, by the time work done, no way to verify liao.... dunno how to prevent and verify oso.. just fyi
