Hi all, Hope those of you that have purchased something from Mega discount store recently can advise me. Were you charged GST? i remember they don't charge gst, but when i purchased my items last week ( just placed a deposit) i saw that gst was charged separately, and adds up to few hundred dollars so it's not a small sum.

Hi everyone, hope some one can help me with this.. i bought a resale flat with super bright and diy painted walls that was quite jialat.. ex-owner even used spray paint to 'decorate' the walls. now we are quite paranoid with the painting works because we were advised that we definitely need to apply sealant and also need many coats of white to get the walls to prepped for paining. My question is, is there any way to tell if sealant has been applied? My ID did not tell us when painting works was done, so we only found out when we happened to visit the house. she assures us that sealant was applied.. but is there anyway to know for sure? The painting looks quite badly done, with bubbles in the paint and alot of rough surfaces, which she insists that was the original condition of the walls. (no way for us to be sure cause we did not inspect the walls prior to painting..) Hope some experienced painters can advise! Thanks!

the electrician my id recommended to me also about the same.. wants to charge me $6 labor per switch. which i find to be quite expensive?? wanted to buy all my switches from taobao but now not sure if its worth it with the labor cost..

hi, i just got the quote from my id recommended electrician, while he is indeed expensive, (e.g $70 for single pp. $80 for double pp, $130 for SCV point) we thought he seemed reliable and should be ok.. but i realized he is charging me $100 each for hob point and hood point? i am not sure what this is.. or if its even necessary? mine is a resale, am not relocating the original hood and hob location. Any advice is appreciated. thanks!

Hello! Was intending to do a cement screeding in my kitchen but am having second thoughts due to the chalking and possible maintenance issues. Also isn't as cheap as i thought it would be.. was googling for alternatives to achieve a textured/ cement screed look and stumbled upon the Nippon Momento and Dulux Ambiance special effects paint range.. they have some really interesting marble look paints which look quite similar to a cement screed wall! But not sure about the cost involved.. has anyone here used such special effects paint for their homes? Also wanted to find out if we need to engage the Dulux specialist painters if we were to use the paint.. Seems like its not very straightforward to paint on so not sure if 'normal' painters can do a good job? Or if anyone has any suggestions or ideas on what other (budget friendly) options there are to achieve the cement screed look would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi everyone, Need some advice! anyone has experience dealing with GST registered ID firms that can waive off GST? Am about to sign contract with an ID firm, and was asking the ID about the GST since they are a gst registered company. She then said that if we pay in cash, she will be able to minus off gst. she will generate a separate quote for us with their non-gst registered sister company. but i am concerned about the company's accountability since the contract is signed with the sister company on paper.. is this a common practice? would appreciate any help or feedback!
