  1. Yeah, I tot of getting some rugs and curtains for my kitchen. Let me think abt it first then let u noe. Today I found another store selling very shabby chic items! hehe...I better stop going to ebay. The more I surf, the more things I'm tempted to buy! http://stores.ebay.com/THE-SHABBY-CHIC-BOUTIQUES Wow...nice decor! Those jars with ribbons, did u buy them or DIY yourself? I intend to buy some glass jugs and bottles and decorate with bows and buttons. I'm also looking for blue striped kitchen or ceramic ware for my home. Did you buy them from Laura Ashley?
  2. Alternatively, get a feature wall done. That can also hide the wires.
  3. I can't really tell from your photos the size of the picture frames. But yes, think $88 is reasonable. Recently, I bought 2 oil paintings from ebay for abt $150, including postage. Find that a good price too, as the oil paintings would have cost at least $200 each in Singapore. When I went down to Country style furniture, I saw that they also custom make unit nos on wooden plates. Find it quite nice also, they quoted me $50 which I find very affordable. I might wanna buy another wardrobe for the children's room and writing desk from them. The salesperson, Jeremy, suggested that I put in the bedroom set for the MBR first, to determine how much space I have for the writing table. This is a very nice clock indeed! This might be good for your bedroom. For your living, can consider buying another shabby-style pendulum clock or mini grandfather clock. Adds to that grandeur in your living! I'm also looking for one for my MBR. Do you have a pic of your curtains? I'm trying to avoid doing custom-made ones but went to a few places, can't find suitable ones, unless I buy from ebay. Problem is, my living and MBR have L-shaped windows, so really difficult to buy ready-made ones.
  4. Gosh....this is really scary. Think I better invest in a better lock. Been wanting to do that since I moved in 2 weeks ago but no time to do that. My hubby said he saw a notice somewhere saying every home is armed with an alarm. Is it true and what is this alarm used for?
  5. No, I don't use Multiply, only Photobucket. What's your url to view the photos? Can PM me pls? Hehe...like you, my home also not ready yet, cos carpentry not yet completed. My carpenter targeting to install the frames by this week. That's why only show bits and pieces here and there. Sigh...I'm to buy stuff from ebay again. Saw some home accessories and curtains which are really . You ladies interested to join in? http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/scarbrough_faire You've got PM!
  6. Hehe...it's not a painting, but a wall mural. It's branded as Wallies, just need to soak in water then stick up. LOL...I do wish I have the talent to paint something like that! Me & Valerie got to know each other from SG Brides forum. Small world here, cos not many people are into country-style actually. Have u started on your home reno? When it's completed, we shd all visit each other's homes!
  7. Can I check how much you bought those pictures? I saw them too at IFC last weekend but didn't ask the price cos I know if I did, I will end up buying! Btw, I bought a bedroom set consisting of bedframe, dressing table, stool and bedside table from Country Furnitures for $1288. Quite a good deal, I shd say! Find their furnitures very nice and affordable compared to other country-style stores. Did you buy any furniture from them?
  8. Just PM u. Did you buy your clock from ebay S'pore or ebay USA? I think $32 for a shabby chic clock is considered cheap. Most I see locally cost $50 & above.
  9. I bought it for abt $75 from Yahoo auctions, sold by a local seller. This lady sells some really chic country-style stuff. Can check it out! Unfortunately, Yahoo auctions is having some technical problems now, can't find you the url. I still have her contact I think, if u interested, I can PM u.
  10. How often does the town council clean up our corridors? I find them very inefficient. During my renovation, we left debris and bulky refuse outside my door, expecting them to clean up (since we paid the haulage fees, thus expect them to do their jobs). End up, they only cleaned up after 1 mth! A few times, we had to ask the cleaners to come up to clear the debris.
  11. Thanks! How are things for u and family? Must be pretty settled down by now. Maybe can meet up soon on weekends for breakfast or coffee.
  12. Have u decided on your ID? Talk to them to see how best to do your space planning. We had a big headache too, by the time we put in a bed, built-in wardrobe, dressing table, not much space to walk already. I'm also in the process of doing space planning for my MBR, thinking of buying another dresser and study-desk, but not sure if it all fits!
  13. I spent some time to decorate the children's room over the weekend. Princess-theme wall mural Cottage-look window display We had our clock fixed. This London station clock is one of the favourite items in my living room.
  14. Nice! I caught it too the week ago, but didn't manage to take any photos. Are there any units here that can catch the fireworks?
  15. Really love the look and feel of your open concept kitchen. This is how I always wanted my kitchen to be, unfortunately we cook and bake very often, so not very practical. End up the living room becomes greasy and smoky.
  16. The quilt shop is at 64 Aliwal Street, near to Arab Street. Can check out their website at : http://www.quiltsnsewforth.com.sg/ I'm not sure how much are the quilts, need to go down to check. Look for the lady boss Bridgette, she's my quilt instructor, very nice lady. From what I see, most of the quilts for sale there are those we use for display, not so much for use as bedding. But of cos, can always use them as bed throws. You can also let them know the designs u like and commission them to make one for u. Not sure when I would buy from USA again, cos lately spent too much on my home deco and furnishings. Will let u ladies know if I'm getting anything. Btw, how's your new home? Share share your photos!
  17. I just bought some stuff like paintings, decorative shelves from ebay, which vpost shipped over last week. Now eyeing some valances and curtains on ebay. Might also wanna get my quilt rack custom made if still can't find it in Singapore. Will let u know yah?
  18. Very warm and cosy feel for your dining area! That area on the right below the canopy, I suppose it's a breakfast counter? Does it overlook your living room? Can't really tell as photo is a little small. Just to add, it's not necessary to have matching colours for all furniture in a room. To create a country feel, it's a better idea to have a mixture of textures and wood colours, else it becomes too predictable. This is what I've gathered from some country style decor books. For my home, I intend to have a mixture of brown and white furniture. It's really a combination of different elements to create the country look, not just wood colours.
  19. Yup, agree that it's an excellent layout. Is this a 4-room or 5-room? What's the floor area?
  20. Thanks for sharing! Want to see how your renovated flat looks like leh.
  21. Congrats, must be so exciting for you! Do focus on the joy of seeing your dream home at the end of the day. The reno process, though headache at times, is something that all of us go thru. Good luck on your upcoming project!
  22. Can I check if you ladies custom make your curtains or bought ready made ones? Due to budget constraints, I intend to buy ready-made ones for the time being. Any idea on where to find ready-made country-style curtains? Went to a few places like Ikea, Spotlight, but can't really find anything I like. I bought some curtain fabric from Spotlight yesterday, gonna try to sew it myself and see how it looks.
  23. What kind of country-style decor are u looking for? Shabby chic, primitive, English country etc? I'm generally into a mixture of shabby and primitive stuff. You can try the following : http://stores.ebay.com/Andy-and-Me-Country-Treasures http://stores.ebay.com/APPLE-TREE-CRAFTS-AND-COLLECTIBLES http://stores.ebay.com/BEARCOTTAGE-CRAFTS http://stores.ebay.com/Petals-And-Paint http://stores.ebay.com/Sarah-J-Home-Decor http://stores.ebay.com/Pretty-and-Chic-Online http://stores.ebay.com/Flowering-Gum-Country-Homewares Some of those above might not ship directly to Singapore, so will have to go thru vpost. Maybe a few of us can combine orders to save on shipping. Last nite, I was digging through the stuff I bought and taking some out to display and my HB simply stared at me and shaked his head in disbelief! When I bought them, I had them hidden from his view, cos I know he'll surely grumble, knowing what I've been spending my money on.
  24. No lah, I try not to buy bulky items and furniture from ebay. Bought my display table from Picket & Rail at about $500+ I think.
