Just a quick update : We finally went to select our tiles for the bathroom & balcony last weekend and pretty much did it in a jiffy since we already had in mind what we wanted. What was tough was finding the exact one that was within the price range that was quoted. But eventually, we settled for a white embossed tile, lime embossed tile and a glossy black one for the bathroom walls. As for the the bathroom floor and the shower wall, we selected a gritty line-textured black one. The balcony floor we wanted something that was outdoorsy as well as unique. So we chose this : (Sorry for the poor quality img as it was taken using my hp) Me and theMeek knew we wanted it initially, the moment we laid eyes on it. I liked the used canvas/dirty chalkboard effect it had and the fact that it matches our personality so well. I even insisted on it even after theMeek had second thoughts and wanted something else safer and woodsy. It was a big risk but I hope it will turn out well.

Hey MLR, yeah the HDB officer came down yesterday. Our requests to change the tiles due to being hollow were rejected . As well as our bathroom bi-fold doors. Only the bomb shelter door will be replaced. It seemed that our bomb shelter door when closed can't be opened. Imagine if anyone gets trapped in there ! Latest Update : My fiance called up the officer and insisted that the bi-fold doors be changed. Its too yellow (after all it IS close to 10 years) and I think we might just get our way.. Here's hoping ! *fingers crossed* - stry

Hey MRL, Yeah the first two times we went down we thought everything looks OK. The 3rd time my fiance went down alone, he scrutinized everything and ultimately wrote a pretty long list of defects. Now waiting for HDB to get back to us..

The One with All The Overdue Photos! Finally, on 10th April 2008, the cold silver blades of the keys finally touched the palm of our hands ! Armed with our canon camera and a small penlight, we marched up to the building and cross the treshold to our new home ! Here are the photos : The Hall The Balcony The View from the Balcony The Master Bedroom Kitchen & Toilet Bedroom 2 These are just white canvases for us to draw on ! Btw, we've already chosen our ID, Max from I-Deal House, after much rave reviews. We're pretty comfortable with the price quoted and feel that he's pretty easy-going guy and will be able to handle this project well. Hopefully, the design will be up to our taste and we get what we have been visualising in our heads ! Sunday, we'll be going to SBH to to select the tiles so... yeay!

Gosh, I'm not in the know to advise...but I will assume that it depends on whether its within the window period that HDB allows you to report any defects in your flat.. Is yours a resale or a new flat ? And how soon did you notice this problem from the time you got the keys ?

Hey Lin3X. We confirmed with Idealhouse yesterday. Reno should be starting pretty soon. Its no prob with the new funitures, in fact we're already requested to delay the furnitures til late May but for our existing furnitures that we wish to bring over to the new flat...that can't wait. Its either we find a temp storage/warehouse elsewhere or put it in the kitchen first where there's already existing tiles. But I guess both of you are right. Should consult with the ID first... Hey Felix, Why transparent ? I think this thread just need some time to get it 'happening'. Hehhe. Btw, I saw a reno notice on my neighbour's door just opposite our unit. Saturday... OMG..yeah its possible that it was us that you saw. We were there around 6-7pm-ish. We still don't know who Steven was cos we werent introduced yet. But I know they are a project team. Is the older guy in red rimmed glasses the famous Mr K ?? Was it max's design ? Wow thats good... I hope he'll maintain such standards when its our turn We're not hacking..we're taking a risk by just overlaying instead. Our flat's pretty new and the existing tiles seemed in pretty good condition.

Our new flat's at Taman Jurong. Yung Sheng Road to be exact. We just signed the confimation contract with i-deal house yesterday...so the reno should be starting pretty soon. Btw, love the 3D drawings of your bathroom...! was it your concept or the id's ?
