  1. eh i live in the block beside you but almost the same level..can still be considered neighbours or not? spam chop all the best!
  2. My contractor wont hang up lah but if he is really busy, he will ask us to call him again in case he forgets to call us back. it also happens to his other customers when he is talking to us. at least he is giving us his full attention.
  3. i think heng suay lah..different flats have different floor levels..my missus and i were quite angry with our contractor then when he said have to hack the gate if we want the kitchen floors and living room floors to be flushed. i asked him how come like that when my missus's sis's flat dont have the same problem. He said the floor levels are different for different units. I took a look at my neighbour's flat and they have made the living room floor flushed with the gate but it isnt flushed with the kitchen door. so they made a kerb betw the kitchen and the living room if really want to cut the gate, think better ask hdb first whether they can do it for you or not. of cos this will delay the renovation period. i didnt ask hdb cos i dont want any delays in the renovations then.
  4. Hi Happy! I have the same problem as you if you want the kitchen floor to be flushed with the living room. i didnt kerb in the end..and when it reaches the gate.there is a drop instead so that no need to cut the metal gate. if want to cut the gate, very troublesome..cos the contractor may not have the tools the big match betw Liverpool and Chelsea going to be played next week. anyone staying up to watch?? caught the 2nd leg of the arsenal vs pool..fantastic match man
  5. Hi all, Do anyone of you puts a dehumidifier in your toilet? Is it useful and necessary, esp if you have installed vanity top and cabinets in the toilet?
  6. Hi Any of you installed storage heater in the kitchen? notice that it is leaking at the valve on and off. My plumber came down and say nothing wrong with the pipes. but said that the valve is meant to release the hot air after the water is heated and the air may have been condensated, therefore causing the leak through the valve. Is it the real reason? or shall i call the plumber to come down and check again??
  7. i guess not much of the difference lah if the lightings are and curtain tracks do not get in the way of the carpentry. I installed most of my lightings before the carpentry are up. curtains only when floor and carpentry is completed. didnt install grilles but i would think it should be alright to install before carpentry too.
  8. i think those metal racks (with plywood) are cheaper by a bit. Toyogo ones look nicer though but not sure whether it is durable or not.
  9. just check for uneven edges between the tiles esp at the corners..tapped it using your nails..any uneven tiles or hollow tiles feedback to your ID lor..and asks them to change straight away. anyone here installed Toyogo store room racks (plastic kind) instead of the normal metal racks here? which type is better?
  10. yeah it could be all of these reasons..although i would have thought HDB is more efficient nowadays anyway good luck with your renovations! the rest of the works should be quite fast now.
  11. aiyo..that's very strange then. we got the permit within a few days once the PE has approved it..and think the wall was hacked down in a week. hdb side should be quite fast. Our side was delayed a bit cos the PE was not free then.
  12. i guess your ID should already apply for permit at the start of the renovations not during the renovations..it will reduce the waiting time for the permit to be approved.
  13. you are right abt the screeching. is the loud screeching noise coming from the water pipes outside your flat? is that something that we should be concerned about?
  14. didnt know the colour of the tap water as i am out of my house before that. But there is something wrong wit the 2 lifts serving the higher floors in my block. The door was stuck for longer than usual before the lift can start moving. Cant imagine if i have walk down 30+ storeys every day if both lifts are down
  15. I would thought it is quite easy to get the approval? All the contractor needs is the approval from PE before he submits to HDB. No door frame needs to be removed as well.
  16. I think it is not 100% straight because the tic tac is located at the top of the door. If there is another tic tac at the bottom of the floor, they should be able to adjust it till it is flushed? but i guess people seldom make two tic tacs one of the bottom as it does not look nice when u open the door. mine looks like this ---------- <- bomb shelter door _ || _ _<-tic tac ||_ <-tic tac ------------- || ----------- ----------- ||----------- view from the top with doors closed || means with backing at the back of the door. Hope this is clear to you. !!
  17. yeah i am doing a feature wall with tic tac doors over the bomb shelter. My ID also says cannot be 100% flushed as the door cannot be 100% straight, esp if the door dont have support at the back. But it would not be that obvious when viewed from the front. They are putting up the doors tomorrow..so can only comment more after they have put it up Thanks euph0bear for sharing the little tips. so that means we can still ask the contractor to change the parts that we are not satisfied with even though it may already be fixed to the floor or wall?
  18. Hi Also want to check with you people. what is your acceptable standard for carpentry? as long as there is no scratches externally? what happens if the shelves are not perfect ard the edges or door surface is uneven on the inside? do you still ask the contractor to change for you? maybe a more general qn..what do you people look for for the final touch up to be done by the contractor before they hand over the flat to you?
  19. yup i am also using Jimmy Textiles too. they are going to fix mine up this Friday! mad rush this past 2 weeks trying to finish my renovations. but glad can finally move in very soon!
  20. you can also try Adamas at Jln Besar..ask for Martin
  21. Hi Mrs Png, your flat looks nice. My progress is still slower than yours..now only doing the painting and will be fixing the lights on Monday! Hope we can moved in soon@
  22. okie thanks..will go to V-Hive to take a look! are PVC toilet doors more expensive than normal bedroom wooden door? My ID says PVC door costs $100 more leh. I thought PVC toilet doors would be cheaper than wooden door
  23. hehe..think Samsung giving free HTS during their promotion last month as well..the 32 R81BX going for 15xx if i remember correctly with all the freebies. Aiya the $250 voucher can only be used at Giant or 7 Elevens..can buy alot of Gardenia bread from it My friend also told me Samsung R81BX and Sony V series almost the same..Samsung uses High Density Light as their back light..whereas Sony uses low density backlight..thats why Samsung LCD TV appears brighter than Sony..but low density is less straining on the eyes. The Sony S series is the entry level model..whereas the better series is the D series and of cos the Full HD is better..but FUll HD tv is too expensive for me Where else can i find nice study tables??
  24. Hi i was contemplating betw Samsung and Sony LCD TV then as well..There was a special offer couple of weeks ago at Best Denki for Samsung LA32R81BX selling at $1099 without freebies. Think you should use that as a benchmark For Sony KLV-32V300A, i got mine at $1499 + $250 vouchers + DVD player + MioTV free subscription for 12mths+ 3years warranty. Got mine 2 weeks ago when they were still having the promotions. My friend told me that they will jack up the prices after the promotion so that they can aappear to give a 'discount' during the IT Fair, when in actual fact the price has already marked up. Chose Sony cos the quality is better and the actual wholesaler px is $12xx. So the selling px is actually quite close to the manufacturer px. For Samsung, believe that the cost price is below $1k, though i think it looks nicer than Sony Bravia. Looking for a desktop PC during this IT Fair. ANy good brands to recommend?
