  1. I've checked mine today. The wall behind the door to the bomb shelter is only 17 cm wide. I think also tough to make a partition to cover the bomb shelter with shoe rack inside. Think I may have to forgo this idea.
  2. Yes, I collected the keys and went to open the door on the same day
  3. At first I wanted to just get contractor, show them the photo and ask them to do it. But the design I want, e.g. the spaces, cubicles, etc may not be the same as the photo. My friends were telling me to go for ID as he/she can help me with the design and I think with proper measurements it will make things easier for the contractor? I don't know. Will ask for quote and see how much is the cost.
  4. I have a question. I have gotten my keys and I need to do a build-in wardrobe, a cabinet to cover the bomb shelter door and wall and kitchen cabinet. Build-in wardrobe and kitchen cabinet is kind of quite standard designs but I would like the cabinet in the living room to have a curve edge than the usual 90 degrees turn. How should I explain to the contractor or in this case it is better for me to get an ID to help me with it? Normally how much would an ID charge for a 2 room flat?
  5. My aunt checked the Chinese dates book for me, she said on the day of the key collection I can go open the door as that day is auspicious for me. I don't want to hear too much myths, it's giving me a lot of worries and headache 🤣🤣🤣 I just be positive and go open the door next Tuesday. Wish me good luck! 😄😄😄 Btw I always have a talisman with me in my bag, I hope I'm safe 😆😆😆
  6. Does she open the PUB account at HDB or do it beforehand? How long grace period is given for us to report the defects? My key collection date falls in 7th lunar month. Many people tell me a lot of things to take note. I'm having a bit of headache now. Omg. Haha
  7. Hi, I'm at West Scape. I'm collecting my keys on 2 August.
  8. Cool! Thanks for sharing. Now at least I have an idea where to get those things. Looking forward to my new house.
  9. Thanks for sharing the photos! Did you engage any ID for the renovation? Did you redo the sink in the bathroom? The dining table looks good. I think I can plan to have 1.5 m table too. Hehe... Where did you buy it from? The wall tiles in your kitchen looks good and also the pink wall in your bedroom is very sweet. What's the size of your bed? Queen size? Where did you buy the fan in the kitchen and also the drying rack? Thank you!
  10. I think mine is about two bus stops away from the future Jurong Regional Line, light blue line.
  11. Not sure how it is compared. Mine was supposed to be ready in Q4 2021. Then I was informed the date changed to Q2 2022.
  12. Mine is at West Scape. Estimated to be ready by this year Q2. Hopefully there won't be anymore delay. I want to quickly settle everything before the GST hike. 😆
  13. Since your ballot number is within the total number of units, should be quite safe. All my ballot numbers (including the one that I got selected) exceeded the number of total units available, hence I didn't get it. The best part was HDB still was able to hold sale of balance units in the following round despite our numbers exceeded the total number of units. This is something that I could not understand why there were more applications than the units available yet there was still balance units for sale. Why can't they give the chance to us instead 😕 They would give you a stack of units and its prices for your selection. If you have got that, then you can start to shortlist the units you prefer. I think it was given on my first appointment with HDB.
  14. Have you got the date for the first appointment? First appointment is to pay the option fee only. After which they will process and then see how much grants you will be entitled to. After everything's done (which is months later), then they will give you another date for selection of the units. Just sharing my experience: I got balloted for a number for different BTO applications but my balloted number was only shortlisted in Dec 2017 for an appointment in Feb 2018. That was for August 2017 BTO. The previous two times I got a ballot number sent to me via email but not shortlisted for selection. So in Feb 2018, I paid an option fee of $500. I think I also had to submit some outstanding documents ( I can't remember too). The lease agreement was signed in Oct 2018. Mine was on a Sunday. It was on that appointment that you need to select your unit. What I did was I shortlisted a few units that I wanted, in order of preference, e.g. floor level, location of unit, unit number etc. This is because in case the unit has been taken up by others, you have other options to fall back on, unless you want to give up this chance, it will be deemed as one chance forfeited. You can monitor on the HDB website to check if the unit you prefer is still available. When I was waiting for my turn, there was only two units left in my selection so I was quite nervous at that time, in case those remaining units of my choice got selected by those applicants before me 😁 Supposed to collect keys in Q4 of 2021. Now it's delayed to Q2 of 2022. Hope it won't get delayed anymore.
  15. I saw there was information on the flooring at Level 1 of the HDB hub when I went to pay for the $500 deposit on my first appointment. That was in year 2018.
  16. Thank you for sharing. Where did you get the book shelf? It looks good.
  17. Hi @mmoh I don't think I will host guests often as my house is so small. It will be quite cramp if too many people are around. I usually watch dramas on laptop and seldom watch TV, hence I think I can forgo the TV but many tell me the TV is necessary. I prefer the projector to TV though. 😄
  18. Initially I was thinking of getting a sofa bed so that my friend can come over to my house to stay if we intend to go JB the next day. Now I think chances of going JB is so minimal for the next few years. I saw some sofa beds quite nice actually. 😀
  19. Hi @Cranberries Yes I also have quite some books, mostly assessment books. I'm a full time tutor and am thinking of getting few students to come to my house for lesson so that I can travel lesser. Hence a dining table is necessary so that students can also do their work there. I am thinking to use a projector for teaching as that was what we did at tuition centre. I think it's easier as students can see what are the important things to highlight and write down as some students learn better when they see rather than through listening. Some of them are unable to pay full attention. My planned layout of the living room is somewhat different from my friends' opinion. I am thinking of placing the sofa in between the bomb shelter wall and living room windows. The dining table will be placed at the living room windows so that the students won't be too near to the screen. The bomb shelter wall will be used as the screen for the projector. I saw from taobao that they do not need a projector screen for the projector, they use the wall instead. I don't know if that works. My parents' flat had some minor renovation recently. We changed the toilet bowls to seated ones and also hacked and retiled with anti-slip tiles. The workmanship for the tiles were not bad. The gaps between two tiles are very minimal and neat. I may consider to re-engage the ID for renovation for my new house. There might be better ones around, I'll see how it goes, whether they do take projects for two-room flat or not.
  20. I'm not sure to get a Queen size bed or not as I don't move much when sleeping and currently I'm just sleeping on a super single bed. Getting a Queen size bed may take up space and be underutilised as the other side of the bed will be left unoccupied. Lol! I'm thinking of doing a full height wardrobe and a small area for doing my work on laptop in the room. I have a lot of books (cos I do tutoring) and I do handicrafts work so I also need space for all these barangs. I'm just worried not enough storage space in the bomb shelter. 😅
  21. Hi @JOYWALKER Thanks for your reply! Wow! I like your living room. It's bright and spacious. The penguin cushions are cute too! Noted that I can request the contractor to extend the wall. Learn something new today 😄 From your photo, I think maybe I can get a 1.6 m sofa so that if my mom comes over for a weekend stay, I can sleep on the sofa which is long enough to accommodate my height. Lol!
  22. Hi! How's everyone doing? My BTO has been delayed from this Q4 to next year Q2. Hopefully it won't be delayed anymore. Just want to check with all of you on the following: 1) Did anyone of you get a sofa and/or dining table for your living room? If yes, care to share the dimensions of your sofa? I can't make up my mind how big sofa and dining table I want and I am aware that I need to measure the actual place before I buy those stuffs. My cousin is currently doing his renovation. His area is in Canberra. He says that even the 80 cm long dining table can't fit at the bomb shelter wall there with the chairs pushed closely to the table. I was thinking of getting a longer table as my current computer desk at my parents' place is 80 cm and I find it small for a dining table. Attached is my floor plan. Most items at parents' place are bigger in size. Now I need to try get used to smaller sized items for my new house 😅 2) Did anyone of you install storage cabinets in the living room? I see some designs with storage cabinets in the living room. Not sure if that will make the whole living room look smaller? Otherwise, I may need to place all my stuffs in the bomb shelter. Hopefully the space is enough to accommodate all my barang barang 😆 Thank you and stay safe!
  23. Bought a 3 seater sofa, 2 manual recliners from Tradehub21 showroom. Service was good. Was given discount as friend recommended me there. Given freebies too. I like the firmness of the sofa. Hope the quality of the sofa delivered will be good and lasting. Looking forward to my new sofa.
  24. Yours is top load? I intend to get front load. Current home is front load too. Previously using top load. Hehehe... Maybe I'll get 8kg, same as my current place's. Just enough for me to wash my comforter and bedsheets. Noted of the PUB bills.
