  1. Hey, Nice decor items you've got there! must have cost you a bomb. heh. Anyway, I don't think we got our customised signs from the same UK ebay seller because mine makes only rectangular ones while yours come in all shapes and sizes! Looking forward to more pics!
  2. Hi all, Sorry for the late reply. Just came back from overseas. Thanks BunBun and piggiedearz for your compliments. Your house is looking good countrylover! We got the standing lamp from a lighting shop along Balestier road. They occassionally bring in a couple of nice pieces. If I remember correctly, we bought the lamp for $170. As for the customised sign, we got it from a UK ebay seller. heh Yup, choices are limited here in Sg but we'll just have to make do with them for the moment. I think you asked (pm-ed) me where I got my fabrics and lamps from before. heh. Anyway, do you mind sharing pics of your country home? Hey, the white baskets and the rattan ones are all from IKEA; and no prob at all. How's your reno coming along? Do keep us updated!
  3. Hi there, my wife just posted the pic on our blog. Yep, it was suggested by the ID because we thought we had lots of things to store. haha. Now we're left with excess storage space. We didn't know that the canopy could be used to store things too until we opened one of their display units. heh. Well, ours is not for decor purposes too; we relied on the tiles for that. Anyway, I'm sure given your great DIY skills, you'll make your kitchen lovely in the end! . All the best ya?
  4. piggiedearz: My wife started a photo blog of our home for our close friends and relatives. You can take a look at some pics there The link is : http://andyvonnescountrylane.blogspot.com/ countrylover: My canpopy looks something like yours just that there are concealed cabinet doors which open to shelves. Can take a pic for you if you like.
  5. Beautiful kitchen! Interesting choice of colour for the canopy. hehe. my missus wanted this design very much but we went for the straight one in the end as it serves as a cabinet too, more storage space; but alas we ended up with excess storage space. haha. anyway, what hood are you using?
  6. Hi there! I'm really impressed with how you DIYed parts of your home! Also, the decor items you got really make your home cosy and country. But I'm a bit surprised that you didn't choose to have white furniture and kitchen in the end. Anyway, can't wait to see your completed home! Have fun with all the decorating and final touches.
  7. Hi Carloyn, Congrats, Your home is ready! That's really fast; the last time we were still talking about which ID you were going to engage. Country Concept certainly did a wonderful job; your home is so inviting and beautiful. But can I ask why don't you want to have a TV console?
  8. Hello... You've got a really beautiful home there. I'm curious how you got the window at your cooking area though. Compared toyour earlier photos, it seems like the window appeared only after your black backsplash's up. Did you get your ID to hack the wall?
  9. Hi Zlia, Your home is really beautiful. Post more pics after you move in? Anyway, do you mind pm-ing me the cost of your shoe cabinet? It's nice. Thanks!
  10. Hey there, Thanks. I will pm u the details.
  11. Hi there! Your home is really lovely. I like your kitchen and dining area. Where did you purchanse your dining set from? And I saw that we do have the same handles! haha, they probably got them from the same supplier. Did you manage to find a suitable curtain shop in the end? When's your family shifting in?
  12. WOW, that's alot of stuff from ebay. Can you recommend some reliable sellers? I'm looking for signs for the kitchen and laundry area. Thanks in advance! !! Do you know which shops in Sg to go to when looking for country decorative items? So far, I've been to Lovely de'art, Le Cozy and cottage crafts but they don't really have the items I'm looking for and if I can get decent stuffs here, I wouldn't buy from ebay coz of the postage cost.
  13. Hey guys, Thanks for your compliments. Your homes must be really beautiful too, accented with all the lovely decor items I've seen. At the end of the day, I feel that our homes are somewhat more unique and "personalised" as compared to the standard few styles that many IDs offer nowadays. 312079, may I know what are the shops that you've been to at Arab St? Really think your lamps are special. Zlia, I saw the perspective drawings of your home, but you haven't posted pics yet? Is your house ready? The drawings are simply lovely. By cottage crafts you mentioned? Same as piggiedearz then? Is your reno expensive? We had some furniture piecies and our kitchen done by Forest woodworking. Okie, do post some pics if you can! Oops, I forgot to reply that all our curtains are homesewn. The fabric for our living room curtains is from spotlight while the one for the laundry area is from IKEA.
  14. These lamps are really unique. !! Will shop at Arab St to see if I can find such jewels too. thanks!
  15. Ooo, modern country & shabby chic...stylish and clean. I'm thinking laura ashley & rachel ashwell? I thought that you'd be doing the more classical country style coz of your profile photo. Anyway, my wife loves the shabby chic style (almost wanted to get a white/painted kitchen and furniture) but I feel its a tad too feminine and it involves alot of white, and according to some of our friends overseas who had their homes done up this way, it can be quite hard to maintain in the long run. So only the reading room is decorated that way; we've gotten our inspiration for the rest of the house from other people's homes but it's really quite tough to do it like the English cause there are so few furniture shops in Sg that sell nice, solid country/cottage furniture. Yup, we got a few items from ebay like rugs, photo frames, the painting, but the shipping cost is crazy so we'll do more shopping next time when we visit our friends. Thanks for the recommendation anyway. What did you get from ebay? Do upload the photos when you guys are free. It's hard to find people who've/are doing up their homes in country style nowadays. Our friends got a shock when we had our house warming cause they thought that we'd be doing contemporary victorian/modern, something couples in their mid-20s would do but those wouldn't be close to our hearts. How bout you guys? Why country style? Btw, there are some really good country/cottage interior design books @ NLB. Maybe you can borrow if you haven't alr. I'd recommend those written by the "Country Living" magazine editors. Cheers
  16. Hey, what coincidence! we got ours about 2 years back at a flea market when we were studying in London. About S$70 plus i think, can't really remember. But the same one can be found on amazon.com as well, we just saw it a few months back. Is your home renovated in a country style too?
  17. Thanks! (posted a few more pics just now) Anyway, we are constantly looking for unique decorative items as our home is still quite bare now. We got our lightings from cottage crafts, blisspoint and chan huat (the latter 2 at balestier). I think we paid bout $450 for the tiffany lamp but they are having a sale right now. Can take a look. What sort of country style are you working towards? How's the reno so far? You haven't posted pics in your blog for quite some time alr. But I must say your tiles really look like wood! Nice and affordable too! Wish we had seen those when we were doing our reno. Anyway, I'm hoping to see Zlia's home. The perspective drawings he/she posted on the blog are really lovely.
  18. Hi, the photos you've got are really lovely. My wife and I renovated our home in a country style. May not be what you are looking for but just to share with you anyway. http://picasaweb.google.com/NDVonet/CountryLivingInTheCity All the best for your reno!
  19. Hihi, ours is a resale flat and the kitchen is pretty small actually. Maybe taking from that angle made it look big. Anyway, we've taken some photos of our home over the weekend. You can view them at http://picasaweb.google.com/NDVonet/CountryLivingInTheCity or http://andyvonnescountrylane.blogspot.com/ Btw, we paid around $12K plus for our kitchen. Do upload your photos too! Cheerio
  20. Yeah, the reno was pretty expensive but we feel that it's a worthwhile investment We didn't engage any ID for our reno. Hehe. Of course, we relied heavily on magazines/books for inspiration. Anyway, here's a teaser for you. Presenting... our kitchen & laundry area. Will post more pictures in the future. Have not really taken a lot of pictures of our home yet.
  21. My wife and I just completed our reno last Dec, also in country style because we've grown to love it when we stayed/visited such houses while studying overseas. A pity we din chance upon this forum sooner; plenty of wonderful suggestions over here and it seems that there's still quite a number of people who wants country living in the city! Anyway, we got forest woodworking to do up our kitchen and some loose furniture pieces. We love our home. All the best for your reno works!
