For safety reasons and to maintain a unified look of the HDB's exterior, you cannot replace your existing windows with, for example, a floor-to-ceiling one. ... Even if you are comfortable working with air conditioning and electricity equipment, it isn't really feasible to do it yourself. In fact, in many places the law won't even allow you to unless you're a licensed installer. However, simple window air conditioning units can be easily installed by a do-it-yourselfer.
