  1. don't think I need a proper home theater set up coz I'll probably move in 2-3 years... a passable audio/video system would be good enough? Fiancee's an audiophile though so sound quality must be good. If he wants good speakers he can buy them separately! hehe
  2. Philips blue ray, left the receipt in the new place so don't know the model number... Jerome didn't agree to put the wires in the cove lights for that reason.... he said best to just get a 2.1 system to avoid the wiring issues coz the casing will be ugly, and can't put it in the cove area coz the heat of the lights will degrade the cables. Budget.. hmmm not more than $1.5k? If I get a 2.1 system, which one should I get?? The TV is a Philips 47"
  3. I know! Amazing isn't it??? oh ok... will go take a look, thanks!!! Spent the day at the new place checking things out.... almost done except for the mirror in the dressing table. Already started unpacking!!! Didn't have time to take pics today but will do so tomorrow when the mirror and blinds are up.
  4. great that you've sorted this out! one less thing to think about.... i like your chairs too, very classy and won't go out of style, not too trendy
  5. hi... (don't dare call you Gor Gor cause I think I may be older than you ... which 2.1 system would you recommend? Have decided to move the sound bar to the MBR and get a new system for the living room, but can't do 5.1 cause ceilings etc all done up liao
  6. Hi Mickey, from experience, wood is tend to scratching and fading, but I do think it adds a lot of character to it. Maybe it comes from my love for antiques
  7. hehe, so far moved in 1996, 1998, 2000, 2007 (longest stay! EA in Joo Seng Rd!!), 2010... so who knows!! my bf already hint hint wanna look at houses, I almost hit him! for the MBR, may actually just get those ipod docking stations with radio and a separate dvd player, don't really need surround sound to just watch tv. I did ask a fellow RT posted if he would sell me his samsung player and soundbar.... see how! but since it's last minute, they will have to redo all the wiring/hide the wires into the cove ceiling, right? i think I'll just suffer through the sound bar for a while.. if really cannot make it, then get a proper 5.1... Thanks!
  8. haha teach me to read this thread, am more confused than before I read it!
  9. hmmm depends on the material i guess, but I did ask a few quotes from other companies, and their quote was slightly more expensive, but very very slightly lah.... I am doing panel blinds in the living room, plus roller blinds in all 3 bedrooms, they claim the material i choose were the higher range. in terms of the roller blinds, the price quoted was similar to the other companies.
  10. haiz...i guess i'll stick to the soundbar then.... sigh......... what would be the ideal location of the speakers? maybe after 2 years since I tend to move after 2 years anyway another headache is the MBR sound system, haven't figured it out yet... at first thought since we will mostly be watching football there don't need proper system, but just realized if I wanna watch dvd's/listen to music, no system!!
  11. Thanks for the full explanation... haven't installed the soundbar yet, but see all your 5.1 make me gian wonder if my ID will kill me!!! handover will be on Friday leh!
  12. bro Ang, do you mind telling me how much you paid for the 5.1 speakers?? Sorry for the noob question, but will I need to get a separate DVD player with it? I got a sound bar but am thinking of putting it in the MBR instead... what do you think?
  13. wow, that's a really unique floor plan! should be fun to do up!! Good luck in your reno... lots of experts here!
  14. That's a really nice squarish layout!! Good luck!
  15. yah, so wasted leh... don't really wanna throw them away! they're brand new and never been used!
  16. haha true! though if you want a proper wooden table it will still cost about 2K? a light lemony yellow may be nice, but may clash with your lights? (too casual against the formal light?) hehe i post more in more blog than in mine!
  17. hi, mine is 3 bedrooms, 1529 sq ft, i did a lot of carpentry, costs about 14k alone for the caprentry.... and it's true, all contractors/ID's have different prices for condo vs HDB's. My ID told me sincerely. Mine will go up to about 22k including all electrical and plumbing.... coz I tiled up the wall in the back yard.... plus added more caprentry!
  18. BTW, am looking for a ncie mirror for the dining room... any suggestions??
  19. think if she paints the table dark borwn, it will go much better with the white cushions and the light? Have to see also what colour is the cushions of the sofa set....
  20. yah!!!!!!!! exactly!!!! apparently all the tables look the same, doesn't matter if the towel ring matches the existing toilet roll holder... get on with it, are you done yet... haiz! be he has no choice coz he PROMISED to go with me wherever and whenever i wanted, hehehe but i think the cushion will make it more comfy... i like dining chairs to be comfy, so when i have guests over, like to linger at the dinner table with wine/coffee and chit chat!
  21. haha thems fighting words leh....
  22. think $300 each but not very sure.... everything in that store is very ex! hehe
  23. I almost bought those chairs in fabric, think they said can make in fabric, not sure though... decided against it coz my table is already so heavy and bulky wanted a more streamlined chair...like the Sawa chair a lot!!
  24. your place is coming along really nicely.... the space seems so spacious and airy! can't wait to see the final outcome
