What's your strategy for picking which CS2 cases to open?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious, when you guys decide to open cases in CS2, do you have some kind of strategy or system you follow? Or do you just randomly pick whatever case looks cool? I've tried a few different approaches, like looking at the potential high-value skins, checking the case drop rates, and even trying to time my openings based on market trends, but nothing seems to consistently work. I still end up mostly getting blues and purples. What's your secret (or not-so-secret) method for deciding which cases to invest in?

To be honest, I mainly choose based on which skins I'd actually want to use. That way, even if I don't get something super valuable, I at least get something I like. That being said, I do try to look at the odds and see what the potential return on investment is. In fact, I remember glancing at a site called cs2lore, which I think was about independent guides and insights. It may be worth looking at resources like that, which share tips or digest return to player data. Just remember it's ultimately a gamble.

Speaking of case openings, I've noticed that the whole experience is designed to mimic the thrill of gambling, even though you're technically just buying a random item. The suspense of the unboxing animation, the flashing lights, and the potential for a big win all contribute to a dopamine rush. It's a clever way to keep players engaged and coming back for more, even if they know the odds are stacked against them. Whether this is ethical or not is another discussion.
