happiz 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 Do you still know if people still use tiles for kitchen table top? I know tile concept is dated, but my concerns are: 1) Solid surface - scratched easily & accumulate germs in the scratches. 2) Granite Top - water-mark around sink. To me, homogenous tiles are good cos they dont scratch easily and no water-mark stains. My parent's home is using Tile table-top too. However my contractor is very reluctant to do it. He kept saying that the tiles will "pop" out. He said the only way to install is to build concrete hollow block underneath to support the cabinet & table top tiles. If no concrete hollow block, he will not guarantee the tiles will not "pop"out. My kitchen cabinets are already very small, with the additional hollow block, i really dont have much space to put my pots & pans. Any comments or suggestion of alternative way to install the tile?
