Id Damaged Marble Flooring

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

During my kitchen reno, the ID's contractor left the debris (tiles) in my living area for more than a week. There after when they removed it, they dragged all the way across my living area to the entrance, leaving long deep scratch marks on my marble. They offered to do buffing for us and during the process, we were shock to see that they used Mama Lemon and Marble detergent. 3 days after the buffing, my marble turned cloudy and my cabinets and wall features started to tear off as they did not sealed up protection sheets as promised. The deep cuts in my marble still visible even by my opposite neighbour. I demanded them to redo the marble and to hire stone specialist to polish. They refused and insisted to get their own non-registered contractor to polish it.

I really regretted so much to hire them. My kitchen turn out to be cheap skate quality. Even the aluminium doors has so many scratches immediately after it was installed. I questioned the ID, she kept denying that the material are low grade. Even my granite top has jagged edge and joints.

Can anyone advise me on the action to be taken on my ID?

re-read ur reno contract, see is there any warranty against defaults to house during renovation and post-reno care.

i believe in such scenarios, i will approach the ID and his/her company for rectifications again and again.

then if they do not give in and continue to make it worse, u can report to the media.

MediaCorp TV programme - Frontline

even if u go casetrust/radac/small claims, it wont be 100% beneficial. This is because nowadays reno company dont really give a hoot to complaints to authorities (just my point of view).

some may say consult legal means but this is really time-consuming unless u have the time to spare.

I have similar experience too, usually scratches on marble can only be removed by polishing(3 layer process). Don;t understand why you ID only do buffing. My contractor sent his polish guy down 3 times, cos his workers not careful enough, keep making the same mistake.

Have you paid up fully? If not, don't pay them. See will your ID chase after u?
