Recommendation For A Decent Sound System.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I thought AVR will be able to take over the 3d Video and audio processing?

Correct me if I am wrong.

yup unless the avr has the ability to play the 3D disc.

http://www.yamaha.sg/Receivers_RX-V767.html for example, an 767 can only support but doesn't have ability to play the the disc.

i have yet to see an avr that can play the 3d disc...perhaps i did not find hard enough... :)

Which boston series? You may want to consider Denon 1611 or Yamaha v467 avr which are around 600, leaving 1.1k for a decent 5.1 speakers. Consider this Wharfedale

:)

thanks for the suggestion...actually thinking hard on the yamaha 767 and onkyo 708 due to the standby pass thru hdmi and the 3d content....thgt can upgrade the speaker in the near future when have a bigger budget for that. :) the link you provide is useful. will look around there also. thanks

I would suggest you look at speaker upgrade first then avr. What is your application ratio? more movie or more music? 50:50? Room dimension of your speaker setup?

Roughly abt 800. They are too small for your living room, assuming your dimension is around 5m x 3m or more.

Hi,

I just bought Monitor Audio RX8 package (rear speakers use Radius HD) and looking for a AV amp to pair with the speakers. Music 80% Movie 20%, so I'm considering Marantz SR7005 (heard the Marantz AV amp good in music). But It seems no one mention about this amp in this forum. Have anyone experienced this amp and any comments?

I found some great reviews from the website but would like to find out any user here can share his experience. Thank you.

Hi

need a new AV Rec as my current one does not support HDMI. I looking at a 5.1 setup. I intend to keep my 4 sound and 1 centre speakers. Only intend to replace my sub, as my current set up is based on Yamaha AVX-S80

Currently looking at the denon AVR 1311 with a 10" sub woofer, Me on a very tight budget...any advice will be great

MA has metal dome tweeters. So you might to be careful with pairing them with bright sounding AVR. Pioneer and Yamaha are considered as brighter sounding (Does not mean no good). Denon and Marantz are more dark sounding. Onkyo has the drive. I would consider marantz first then denon follow by onyko.

Thanks omegared for the advice. I have purchased Sr7005. The amp and speakers have arrived this afternoon. Currently I setup with my CA 640V2 CD player to test the music first. :)

My Panasonic Plasma VT20 will be arrived on Monday. Will test the HT after that.:)

Once again thank you for spending time to give advise and provide useful information for us. :good:

Cheers!
