Wood Kitchen Cabinet Base With Tiles To Cover

Hi,

My ID has done up my kitchen cabinet base. Inner side is wood, outer is laid with tiles on the outside. Is it a good method? He has assured me that this is adequate, instead of what i requested, 2.5 cm cement base + wood support for my suspended kitchen bottom cabinet. Thanks in advance
