Decorative Ceramic Tiles are really popular in the late 19th century through to the early years of the 20th century. Many designs resembled auspicious Chinese patterns and were widely used to beautify peranakan houses. They were also used to enhance the look of furniture favored by the peranakans therefore known as peranakan tiles.

Peranakan tiles are rare and very sought after by collectors and interior designers for their exquisite designs, high quality glaze and durability. at Aster By Kyra, we have a large quantity of Peranakan tiles that are more than 100 years old. These tiles are painstakingly salvaged from old Singapore and Malaysia shop-houses that were torn down in 1970s and 1980s.
