Codename: Project-Complete-Overhaul For 20 Year Old Condo Unit

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Have learnt alot from this forum and decided I should share my renovation project too so that people can learn something out of this t-blog post! Many thanks to all the forumners here who have posted and shared their experiences and knowledge!

Anyway my wife and I recently acquired a 20 old condo unit at Hillview Heights. It is a top floor corner unit and pretty spacious (i think its somewhere around 125-130 sqm from the floor plan below). The location is actually pretty good because the new hillview station is just beside the condo and diagonal from us is the shopping centre HillV2. Oh and there will be a community centre right across the road from the condo too!! :dancingqueen:

Okay back to the renovation talk. The unit hasnt been well maintained and the conditions and furnishings are all seriously worn and unusable, so no choice we have to do a complete overhaul of the whole house. Yes, everything has to be hacked away!! :jawdrop: Therefore wifey and I felt that we really need a very experienced "old bird" to be able to handle this Project-Complete-Overhaul and so the hunt for the IDs began. Since October we have been seeing many IDs and I meant many! Although we already have the keys to the unit, but wifey and i both have our own rooms in both my parents' and inlaws' so there really isnt any rush to complete the renovation. Moreover we prefer to walk the slow-and-swee-swee route rather than rush-and-poor-job-done path.

The list below are just some of the companies we have met with:

- Liv** ***thesis

- Rh*** **terior

- Trin*** ID**

- Tre**diz

- A***ier ***cept

- 3* ****vation

- De***** Int*****

- T** ***erior *ab

- P**je** G***

- T** ***erior **ace

- In*** **sign

- Id*** **use

- S** **eati**

Like most new homeowners we learnt alot from the IDs when they explained all the works, materials and design and we were really grateful to them. Some IDs we were very impressed with and unfortunately there are some that we are totally put off by. We had an intial budget of around 60k but after all the assessments done by the IDs onsite as well as the from the heap of quotations received, we realise that will not be possible since the whole house really need to hack down and re-do. So after some careful planning and calculation, we raised our budget to somewhere around 90K (not counting furnitures/appliances etc...) #gonnabesobrokein2016

After almost 3 months of meet ups and discussions with so many varieties of IDs, we have decided to engage In*** **sign because the boss himself will be the handling our reno project and wifey and i think he has the most experience of the lot. Not only that, he also rendered 3D drawings for the whole unit to show us without paying a single cent of deposit. That really put the icing on the cake and wifey and I decided to sign with them.

Stay tuned for more updates and feel free to comment on anything!
