Help! Low dish rack cabinet for petite wife. Can this design work?

Recommended Posts

Hi interior designers, carpenters, glass and aluminium, windows and doors contractors

I need some advise.

As the ladies in my family are below 1.50m, I am looking for an alternative way to place my dish rack which is not the typical top hung above the sink. I'm thinking of a side dish rack cabinet with a folding door, supported either by top rail or by side hinges as in the picture.

But so far, my ID's carpenter says cannot be done. I have called 2 contractors doing glass and aluminium, windows and door contractors who also say they cannot do.

It seems like a simple idea but I do not understand why everyone says cannot do.

Can anyone in the trade provide some advice on whether this is design can be built, using what material or why this is not a good design in terms of ergonomics, or suggest a better design?

Pls share with me contacts who can provide this door installation.

Thank you :)
