Just the person I'm looking for, we have an opening for a trianglist.

th_P1060809.jpg

GREAT!

i always know my musical talents would be recognise one day.

am sure i will hit it off with that kiddo playing the cello above

My kids dont create music they only create noise. Actually the music/band room is for hubby and me to relive our depraved "youthhood". Call it Mid Life Crisis, my middle aged husband is seriously thinking of setting up a band with him as lead singer and the kids playing drums, keyboard and guitar (we have also found our trianglist recently). Pl PM me if anyone has any lobang to recruit The Short Giraffe Band. TIA :D

I wil try my best not to let you down.

NOW... can someone tell me where is the mouthpiece of the triangle

Hi Green Giraffe,

Could you share on the tiles that you plan to use for your house and the reason for your choice? Exterior area is pebble wash. What about feature walls, living room tiles, kitchen and toilet wall and floor tiles?

Hi leechaorui,

This is gonna be a long post. Pl get ready your coffee.

My IDWET (Id with excellent taste) chose all the tiles for us. First we are aesthetically challenged, second we get overwhelmed easily, we are not brave enough to face the plethora of tiles begging us to choose them. I might not be the best person to answer the question why we chose a certain tile (IDWET knows best) but will try my best.

Living Room

Floor tile : 600 x 600cm cement look alike tile ( i wanted cement screed floor but hubby thinks its too raw, this is a good compromise)

Feature wall : exposed brick wall painted white (to have more texture than plain white walls)

Ceiling : Dark brown (no budget to install timber rafters which was the original plan)

P1070042.jpg

At Main Door Way and side patio, cement slab with loose pebble stones (have always like pebble stones walkway, we had the same thing in our previous house)

P1070043.jpg

Chengai wood stained to a darker brown for patio, platform in living room, powder room shower area, build in dining bench, build in bench (secret storage compartment) in Master bedroom and outdoor platform deck at the back of the house. (Using lots of wood to suit our modern resort theme)

To be continued....

Still **** Room

Close-up look at the living room white brick feature wall. We are also having this feature at the Music room wall and Masterbed room wall. These walls are newly erected so we can use the nicer (and more expensive) brick to achieve this effect.

P1070025.jpg

We are using Formica wood grain vinyl stripes for part of the living room, dining room, vanity area in the kids toilet and all the bedrooms on the second floor. We wanted wooden floor but real timber is difficult to maintain and costly. We had parquet in the previous house but it could not stand the abuse handled out by my kids. It was full of scratches and dents and the gaps in between became bigger. IDWET recommended vinyl strips cos it feels like wood (you have to feel it to believe), scratch proof (a bit doubtful about that claim) and wouldnt be dented easily even when my kids drop their monster truck (repeatedly).

We are using the one at the bottom, marked with an x.

The image on the left is how it is going to look like after laying on the floor

Let's move on to the kitchen

As you can see, its an open concept kitchen opening out to the dining area at the far end near the windows. Cabinets not up yet so you have to use your imagination.

Floors tiles: same as living room, 600 x 600cm

Cabinets doors: mostly white glossy laminate, top hung cabinet and larder unit will be brown.

Counter top : white solid surface (easier to maintain than black, less obvious if there are scratches)

P1070027.jpg

Floor tiles for Maid's room and yard

P1070022.jpg

Floor and wall tiles for powder room and mosaic to make it more groovy (hubby loves mosaic)

P1070023.jpg

This pic does not do justice to the tiles and mosaic. Will post another one when it is all done up and scrubbed clean

to be continued again....

Have you tried those from Nile Valley? I know Thread count can be misleading sometimes cos it can be based on per 10cm sq or per sq inch. And most of the brands just state TC without stating the unit of measurement. For example saw a King Koi duvet set that states 550 TC and on closer inspection it says 550TC per 10cm sq and 300 TC per sq inch.

Whatever it is 1000 TC still sounds luxurious. Cant wait to use my new bedsheets :)

I really hate to take all your money NeO. What is your wife gonna say if she finds out that she is not going to have her hansgrohe rainshower, blumotion drawers, brandt oven all because the short Kirin is an early riser and was already at the soccer pitch with 3 Saru before you made this post?

*$%! you are right! They are @#$%* Gorgeous!

To be honest, this zoo is quite challenged in the department of taste and even more challenged in the department of finance (dont even dare to make any bets be it Toto or chap ji kee, cannot afford to lose that last dollar lah).

Thanks for sharing the expensive love. :)
