Actually to be honest, if you have minimum hacking and re-tiling work your budget would be fine. Try to cut down on false ceiling work too. I agree with h4happy typical carpentry work can come up to near or more than 10k as built-in wardrobes do cost quite abit, kitchen cabinets unfortunately that can't be removed unless the previous owner has something really nice, feature wall as well, you might want to paint the side of your wall in a different bolder colour and paste some decals to accentuate it. Cause wallpapering a wall can cost as much as a feature wall too. Just some thoughts but 30k should get you there. the rest of the other homely 'needs' would set you anywhere from 20k upwards. Again depends on what you want and the brands you buy. good luck!

suggest read up more on the forums, also, how simple is simple. Contractor is good cause more or less you cut out the middleman. But you need to have loads of patience to coordinate all the work, design ideas as well as my friend rejected Ho Bee's designs and ended up being the 'ID' for his flat. My colleague appointed Ho Bee, initial budget for him was 20K ended up 40+K and this is a contractor (His is a 5 room flat) really depends on what you want as well as the materials you choose. hey you can head to their main showroom at bendemeer rd the Luzerne S(339940) i'll PM you the chap that served me, nice guy and not pushy and I found out it's easier if you speak to him in hokkien seems there is a balance of both good and bad comments, I guess at the end of the day, it really boils down to whether you get a 'sophiscated' sales or a 'SALES ONLY' sales serving you. But then again, like I said previously, I honestly do not know what is going to happen after I have signed on the dotted line. I did get another quote from a contractor but it amounted to S$31K less GST. I was shocked... thanks for the advice though Hey one thing is to get atleast 4-5 quotes to compare, it's gonna be tiring but it's one moment that you will enjoy with your significant one. You might want to try evov or Massimmo though their are not customized sofas, you can still have them change the length of the sofa as per your measurements. Price wise I feel their gonna be much cheaper than Air, LifeStorey and of course SPACE....

Hmm..seems there's a good balance of both good and bad experiences from Darwin, anyhoos, here's my side of the story. Met up with a chap named Eric from Darwin, so far, we have met him 3 times and thus far, both myself and my gf is pretty happy with the way he is handling and servicing us. I am in Sales as well so I was brutally honest with him and told him what I wanted, expected and needed. The fact of the matter was, he came back with a quote in under 1 week though, the initial quote looked very much like a 'cookie-cut' quote, I thought he deserved another chance by his seemingly postive attutide, so by the 3rd meeting, he got back also in under a week with a proper quote printed on paper with the company's letterhead. So far, with what I have requested from him, he has delivered and just to quote, he also sent me a copy of the quote via email on a weekend evening when I asked for it. Not only that he has yet to ask us to sign or pay the $500 deposit. Overall, we are extremely delighted with the service but then again, once we've signed on the dotted lines and work commences, who's to tell what's going to happen. But I did share with him that if it's one-time business his looking for, I'll give him one-time attitude . Anyways, he was patient and chatty and I do appreciate his patience for being able to tolerate my straight-fowardness. We are meeting him again on Friday but this time I am bringing my sister down to ensure the Ts&Cs are nailed down not just to protect the ID but us as well. My sister is drafting out the contract for us and as soon as she's done. I'll post the carbon copy here. Cheers
