  1. Padlock? or number lock? My contractor also use his own number lock to lock up our place during reno period. But he let us know what is the number so we can drop by anytime to view the progress.
  2. i'm at st 22! Any neighbours nearby??
  3. i bought a joven and don't need to wait for 15 min that long for the water to get heated up. BTW..do you 'll really use hot water for washing machine?
  4. What is your consideration???
  5. Still sounds complicated. Let me go find my floorplan & slowly digest what u've shared. To strike lottery or 4D of cos is good, but to me good health & happy family still supercede..
  6. Oh ok..i get it liao.. -lol U intend to do it suspended or all the way down to the ground? My contractor charged me $780 for full height with laminate finish.
  7. Maybe let me rephrase.. my main door is directly facing my neighbour's main door. On our level, there's only 3 of us. From floor plan, unable to see my neighbour's wat.. Anyway the door is already up, is there anything whereby we can do or put to "dang" the no good?? Thanks!
  8. Erm.. what do u mean by cushion finish?
  9. Agree with Double J on the curtains part. I did mine for less than $2k. Living Room & MBR- Day & Night curtain. The other 2 bedrooms - Roller Blind.
  10. Oh dear. My front door is directly facing my neighbour. How? Thought this is quite common in HDB flats nowsaday? Put curtain very funny leh..
  11. Agree with pinkpetter. My contractor also works like an ID, whereby he has his own people to incharge of different aspect of the reno. So if there's any problem, you just need to contract one main person ie him. He even recommended me aircon-contractor, curtains etc..
  12. Hi all.. for me, i've been balloting for yearS also..paid lots of $10s.. but nvr seem to have the luck. Its either queue number too far out or only left those 20 years old flat on 2nd floor. So ended up buy from re-sale market lor... if i know the balloting of flats is so inefficient, i'll buy from re-sale earlier. Save the time. To me, balloting is for someone who has got time to wait.. 13. Totally agree. But i have some leftover unused T5 tubes & PLC lights. Do u think i can get refund? or maybe do exchanges for stand alone lights? Duno what to do with them.. headache
  14. That is true lah.. i did part concealed as well.. Let me post the pix tomorrow. But its up to you if you want to take the risk lor.. For us, we opted for beauty. We intend to stay for 5 years... so shd be ok lah.
  15. If you got no idea, i would suggest you to go look for IDs. Check out a few shops. They will draw up designs for you. Then you see which one you like. For my case, because of the layout & budget, there's limited things whereby can be done. So almost all the IDs i went to come up with similar design. So just copy copy then find 1 contractor to do for you lor..
  16. i bought from Designer Lightings at Balestier. Good service. They even came to install for you and exchange any defected products.
  17. Further to what pinkpetter has mentioned, i find that contractors lean more towards practicality. What they have in mind suits everyday usage. IDs are more towards asthetics. My 2 cents worth.
  18. Hi Pinkpetter, your reno works sounds pretty like mine. Can ask how much your contractor quote you? Thanks!
  19. I've bought a 13 years old resale flat. Ex owner also first owner. I'm not into retro-style so can't put up with the floorings and wanted to save cost. So we use laminated floorings instead for living & all 3 bedrooms. Don't suggest you put off the reno till later cos it will be very messy especially if you have the intention to hack away the floorings & wall tiles 6 months later.
  20. Hi, i'm new here. Like to recommend my contractor if cost is a big problem for you. ACE Design. Very reasonably priced. Interested. Please pm me.
