  1. This is very nice!! I heart your bottom cabinets leh...
  2. Actually I wanted to install 1 in the kitchen also, but a bit risky so don't want. Hubby also not very keen. But I like the kitchen light. Very simple and sleek.
  3. Oh! That's good to know. Your renovations are looking good! By the way, how much you got quoted for the glass door in your toilet? I also want something like that but scare no budget and hard to maintain.
  4. Close-up Master Bathroom Wall Tiles NIGHTMARE 2: Very nice tiles you may say, but they were all laid in a manner in accordance to the contractor liking! And before, he said he will call and arrange an appointment with us to see how we wants the tiles to be laid. So when we saw the tiles up (somemore not to our liking), we got a shock outta our lives! We had briefly went through with him where we want the tiles on the selection date but everything was well forgotten after that. Common Bathroom: We asked him to lay the patterned tiles on the right side of the bathroom since we are not doing any shower screen. But he went to lay it in the center cuz he thinks it's nicer to do it that way. FINE. MBR Bathroom: We asked him to lay the pattern tiles around the bathroom as we worry it might be too white for our liking. Instead, he went to lay just one side from left to right, above the bathtub cuz again, he thinks it's nicer to do it that way. He even had the cheek to say "Aiyah, no need to make a big fuss. You want I change for you lah. But wait not nice, don't complain again. You think your bathroom is public toilet meh? Only public toilets will like that lay. You want, I relay for you loh." Wah, ****ed up attitude loh he. In the wrong, still dare to speak to us in such a tone. Bloody ****, this is MY house or HIS house. We pay him to do work for us, yet still have to put up with his attitude ah. In the end, we did not change cuz we worried might damage the rest of the tiles. Plus we didn't want to waste time. 6. Jupiter Home - Don't look like meh? I've stayed in Jurong my whole life, my old unit also something like that one, but in Jurong West. I think all Jurong units are built the same way. For Clementi units, the storage will be in-between the MBR and CBR. mafia_lim - Thank you very much! It's nice, but will be better if I did not engage the wrong contractor for the job! Hehehe... Yep, doing whole house. Very very old unit, previous owners did not renovate at all so it's like hacking and rebuilding loh. pinkpetter - Agreed! Me and my hubby were very pleased with the space when we saw the storage room hacked. Just nice for 2 + 1 dog.
  7. Common Bathroom Basin Removed Floor Tiles for Both Bathrooms Common Bathroom Wall Tiles NIGHTMARE 1: Now, about the issue regarding the tiles. We were quoted $3.50 for 600X600 homo tiles for living and 2 bedrooms, $2.80 homo tiles for kitchen and both bathrooms (wall & floor), and was told if we choose something of a smaller value, he will refund and deduct from the total renovation cost. We were hesitating as we are not sure if we are going to choose tiles of such high value, but contractor is confident as he mentioned most of the glossy/glassy type ranges between $3.20 - $3.80. As we trusted him (then!!!), we decided to go ahead since there's nothing to lose if it's all refundable. So the day came and we tried to keep the selections within budget. In the end, came down to $3.50 for both living and 2 bedrooms, $2.80 for wall tiles of both bathrooms & $2.40 for kitchen tiles. We were very pleased as we did not go beyond budget with no need to top-up and may have more budget for additional works! So we sat down with him, wanting to talk to him regarding the refund. And guess what he said? "Oh, actually no refund cause it's for GST. See, I am absorbing GST for you so unless you want to pay the GST for your renovations, there will be no refund." Me and my hubby looked at each other in shock! We were like what the heck, you are out to cheat us loh!!! We kept our cool and decided to give him the benefit of doubt, since it's not quite a significant amount and we do not want a mere 40cents to ruin the relationship and in turn make a mess out of the renovations. So stupid of us to have such a mindset and be so nice to him loh! This in turned, got us into so much trouble and part 2 of our nightmare since he thinks he can get away with just everything!! He should be ashamed and condemed for all we care!

  9. As long as you choose patterns that are visable over the solid tops, think it should be fine?? If you believe in fengshui, some say kitchen don't put black and red.
  10. I think it depends on the Paint Consultant. Mine was willingly to compromise. They will paint 1 coat before carpentry, and then 2 coat after that. Was overall quite a good experience for me.
  11. Preparation for Plastering Storage Room Removed MBR WC Removed pinkpetter - Yeah, I also don't under why. They don't have any built-ins one...
  12. Yep! Everything also don't have. They didn't renovate, so this is original-original "design". Hacking Works Commerce Common Bathroom Kitchen Sink Hacked
  13. Which contractor are you using (I may have missed...). Cuz it looks like mine!

  15. I wonder if we are using the same plumber! LOL. Like same pattern one. My plumber (not from Henry) also very jialiat loh! Straight or not, not their problem. I had to call the renovation contractor to come down just to rectify a problem a moron could also identify!!! He's worse than a moron!
  16. Yes indeed but he won't deny and will ask his workers to rectify if any problems. But my renovation contractor is not! He will try to push the blame to our sub-contractors, if not to us! Where got like that one! He will nag and nag, and if really no choice then will come down and do. But still very sub-standard loh he. Nope, he didn't. He just said the completion is max 1.5 months. He started work on 3rd October, but only handover in end November. But even now, I am still having problems with the house. He is one of a kind. He is also the "director" of this whole saga. He will simply shun the responsibility by saying it's not in black and white. So we shouldn't hold him responsibility if he cannot complete the works on time.
  17. Ya loh. Is super. Top is red, bottom is black. White solid top and black tempered glass in-between. I quite like lah, but must get used to it. My tblog's here - http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...c=18505&hl=
  18. I think is $900 leh. Pipes @ $45 per bathroom. 2 coats of paint, do not include doors and a selection of 5 colors including white (meaning is 4+1). I called at around late morning like that. Was a lady who answered, very nice and patient towards my questionings. Hehehe...
  19. Yes, usually excluding pipes. If new house got plastering works, they will recommend using sealer (additional $400). Else it's as advertised.
  20. Ya loh. Very risky right? Hahaha... But my hubby likes leh.
  21. I have been asked times and again to post pictures of my renovations, and the nightmare with my renovation contractor. I had been rather reluctant to post my experience as the son is also in the renovation business and operating in the same office at Beauty World. I never had any dealings with him hence would be unfair to drag him into the whole saga. But ONE conversation with him today changed everything. Why should we be so nice to him if he's such a jerk!!! This renovation contractor was recommended by my MIL. He has previously worked on one of our relative's tiling, and they were very pleased with the workmanship. Hence we decided to engage him after seeing a few IDs, since we already have a design in mind and pricing was somewhat the same. He was not the cheapest nor the most expensive. I admit I was very pleased with how the renovations were advancing initially. He started works and applied for permit even when we were unable to pay him as the Bank were processing our application then. He knows very well we were in dire needs in having the house ready and in move-in condition by end November 2008. We have stated our stand very clearly that we are getting married in December 2008, and he acknowledge that renovations would usually take a max term of 1.5 months to complete. We signed, and paid him a total of $24,000 and that was when the nightmare began… Everything he had said and promised before, were now all words. The works he said he'll do, he never did. The amount for additional works he quoted, were all well forgotten after we asked him to go ahead without the proper paper-works. The refunds he promised if we choose something of a smaller value, he will say it's for GST. The works we ask him to do, he didn't do. The works we ask him to do, he never do and even said we didn't ask him to do! Ask him do A, he will do B if he thinks is nice. Then when called to confront him, he will say it's nicer and if we want to change, it can be done. No need to make a big fuss. WHAT IS THE POINT OF TELLING HIM HOW TO DO IT, AND THEN HE WILL DO IT HIS WAY AND AFTER THAT WASTE TIME TO CHANGE WHEN WE ALREADY SPOON-FEED HIM WITH EVERYTHING HE NEEDS!!!!! I will indicate each and every incident and words he promised but did not honor along every pictures I post. Now that Henry is taking over, I feel more at ease. I don't have to go back for site inspection every other day, cuz I know my house is in good hands. Through this, I would like to share my experience with everyone here at Renotalk, hopefully no one would have to go through the same kind of **** and to be careful of renovation contractors who may seem very sincere and friendly at first. These are usually the more dangerous ones!! And above all, if you are in the same situtation as I am, I want you to know that you are not alone. We are all victims of unethical contractors.
  22. Of course. Money all goes into one shared account, and then will transfer to savings account thereafter.
  23. Nods, nods. My hubby also love at first sight. But whole kitchen leh, really must get used to it cuz the pattern quite obvious when done.
  24. Very good. Now he says we haven't make the final payment, we super fussy about everything, want to find trouble. Quality like that, still want me to pay. He siao is it? Bloody ****, make my blood boil only. I will post pictures of my wrought iron later. Cannot tahan already loh.
  25. Is that a pool cum dinning table I saw?!! Wah, it's very nice! Must be very expensive lah... Red and Black, reminds me of DBS. But very good combi, I like!
