Korn, exactly how i feel too. everytime i look at HB's substandard reno work, i want to undo everything! just blame myself for being silly to pay so much and get crap quality (creaking floor tiles, unvarnished solid surface top, poor quality kitchen cabinets and wardrobes, paint splutter, mouldy mirrors on day 1, leaking pipes within months etc). i used a different carpenter (Sun Hup) at my old place and their quality was wayyyyyyyyyyy better for the same price. they never shortchange me in service or workmanship. i seriously never expected HB's work to be this bad.

i was also exploring the high frequency pest mgt device you mentioned. it's suppose to drive away cockroaches as well, and does it? i was and still am extremely skeptical about the product claims. if it really prevents cockroaches from coming, then i might buy it.

i have to agree. the paint work sucks big time, among a list of other sub-par work. unfortunately,i only discovered a lot defects as time went by eg damaged marble & parquet floors. the mirror was also defective when it was first installed, and as i did not realise the black patch would grow to 6 patches, i left it alone then. oh well, i wouldn't advise anyone to use them, since their price is much higher, considering they are non ID contractor.

Think their standard went down over the years. Frankly, don't know how they warrant 40pages of generally good comments here though.

the first reno with them was not that bad. the second reno was absolutely terrible. my bathroom mirror also had one small faint black patch when i moved in. i did not expect them to grow to 6 huge dark patches now! and today, i just discovered two of my kitchen floor tiles creaking under my feet when i walk. very worried. care to share your experience?

used him for 2 renos. 1)terrible painting job, with lots of splutters everywhere (on floor, windows, doors) and drips which i did not discover until after moving in. no choice, so living with this now. 2)carpentry is mediocre at best. he actually installed the wrong colour solid surface top for my bathroom, but as i had to move in quickly, i did not have it changed. so, living with that terrible colour mismatch now too! 3)the solid surface tops of kitchen cabinets & vanity top were extremely badly varnished. many spots were not even varnished, and are in their original raw texture. 4)plumbing is bad too, both kitchen & bathroom taps leak within months upon moving in. service is good, but quality definitely not there for the high price he charges.

same prob here; i bought my black repro barcellona sofa from Comfort. it became like that within 6 months, and mind you, i never sat on it at all as it was just a show piece at home! it is still disintegrating right now.

gkbt: i am using a Mavello. Most times, the water tastes like normal water. On lesser occasions, the water tastes very nice and sweet. Would you know why, and should the water taste sweet? Thanks!

THanks for the tip! i was suspecting it's the poor ventilation at my place that is causing the mould.

just my 2 cents, i will never go for leather furniture anymore - my leather sofa and bed all turned mouldy within months, despite using mould remover and leather protection cream. the mould kept spreading to a larger and larger area each time. headache ah!

Read the weblink provided and it said we must keep the jar open, otherwise no effect. The renowned Master Chang however told me to seal the jar. Can anyone comment on this? Should i seal or keep it open? Thanks!

Whenever i flush toilet (even a gentle flush), the water splashes all over - the walls, the seats, the floor. This happened since day one of installation. What can be done to solve this really messy problem? I don't want to have to hack and change the system. Any advise please?
