  1. Hi Blu!! Sorry been rather busy with the reno so didn't have time to catch up on the replies! I can't tell you who is better, Candy or Jess cos I've never seen Candy's work. We were referred by a friend to Jess so we didn't speak to anyone else at TIP. My condo reno is 95% done already. We didn't do any hacking or walls or flooring, mainly and designing of layout. I think Jess did a great job and managed to help us work within our budget and extremely short time frame as well. Mostly impressed by her efficiency from the time she did up our quote (fastest out of all the IDs we approached, tho' not the cheapest at first! =p) to the actual reno and all the rectifications (1 day turnaround for most fixes). Project management is a HUGE . Totally hassle-free. Which was really impt to us in choosing ID over indiv sub-contractors, as our schedule is pretty tight n we don't have time to be there daily to oversee. Usually we'll jus drop her a line/sms to 'disturb' her n check the reno progress, then head up to the place at night after we knock off. I feel that design is one thing but being able to work/click with ur ID is just as impt. At the end of the day, they'll be the ones key in helping u acheive ur dream home, be it deciding wall colours, finishings, lights, fixtures or rectifying mistakes. Design is also very personal. At the end of the day, they may design something really nice but it's just not 'you'. So must see how well they can incorporate ur styles into their concepts! Who knows, u may even earn a fren in the process. All the best in ur search & upcoming reno! Rber to enjoy the process!
  2. hmm... really no one went with them? So worrying. haha... We actually decided to sign with them cos we felt that we can work with that ID the best, of all those we visited. very fast n efficient. Have heard many horror stories abt designers that are real nice to you before u sign then after that they bo chup you. Hope it's not like that. Will update again as the reno progresses! Wish me luck!
  3. Agreed! my fiance n me love the idea too! gg to check if we can do the same thing too... Thought might not be able to cos inside are bathroom tiles. hehehe. took some pics but dun hv them now. Will post when i get hm.
  4. Thanks X.H.LI & PorkyPig! Think i get what's a tic-tac door. Thought those were used for display cabinet's glass doors. Didn't know that do that for full height doors as well. iReno, each pd door is $278 (with on-site msmt, installation and 1 yr warranty) or $238 for just the door without on-site, installation, warranty. Think the price also varies if you want to have more 'panels' or different designs. Also, when i called up, the sales asst mentioned that if e hv contractors installing for us, can get them to call her direct cos they have 'contractor' prices.... But I'd rather just get the pddoors ppl to install for me, save another level of 'mark-up' if u know what i mean. ;p You can check out www.pddoors.com for more details. I personally feel that the design is more suitable for toilet/utility doors, but i think u can custom make (read top-up) to something that looks nicer andd fits ur application. Hope the info is helpful! ProDesign, i have almost an identical problem as you too... my toilet door swings inwards and hits the toilet bowl, no rm for sliding door.... gg for PD doors though my ID didn't recommend it initially, but after i did my research, i think i managed to 'convince' her. Hehe. Main point is can swing 180d and smaller swing radius so can swing past the toilet bowl all the way to the wall, which normal bi-fold cannot. *yayz!*
  5. ohhhh... so that's how the 'pebbles' looks like... hmm... ok,Will prob check with my id to see if it's possible. Dropping by my new place later on. Think i'll go bring my camera to take some pics to post later! =p Thanks!
  6. Hi KastleK,cld u post some pics of the pebble dashing at the door entrance? I also want to install pd doors to my MBR bathroom but not intending on hacking the flooring cos not changing the tiles. Would i be able to remove the door frame (can enlarge my small toilet doorway!! ) without damaging the toilet wall/floor tiles and the MBR flooring?
  7. Hi ALL, Was just wondering if any of you have worked with The Interior Place before. We met up with an ID from there and he has left us a good impression, creative and patient. However, while we understand tat the ID will be the project manager and we do trust his ability to manage, we would liek to seek some opinions on the finished product, quality of materials as well as after sales service. Any feedback will be valuable to us. Thanks.
  8. me interested to find out if anyone has comments on Lamis too... Wallpapers are always one of the 'higher' costs of beautifying the place.
  9. Can anyone help see if my quote is reasonable..My carpenter is recommended by a friend but I'm not too sure of the mkt price... top hung cabinet w/ glass door - $95pfr study table - $90pfr ledge - $25pfr t5 light $50/pc Thanks!!
  10. Hi GMC, cld you share on the different types of polishing methods. My ID quoted me $480 for polishing marble in living/dining and foyer, but didn't state the method. Are there diff methods that i should be asking about? Thanks!
  11. Hi Mel, can you pm me the contact as well? I'm having a problem viewing the image so if you have their website, that'll be great! Thanks!
  12. Hi Porkypig, sorry, rather new here, but what's a tic tac door?
  13. I'm also looking for a custom built-in L-study table as my ID quoted me almost 6k for the study desk and cabinets. Unable to see your picture so could i trouble you to send it to me as an email attachment? Do you mind sharing which carpenter did u get to build it and what was your quote? Thanks!
