  1. Well, you can always rent and stay on. Save money and have a family first. When opportunities comes from HDB, then you move. Young folks these days, worry too much la.
  2. Hi, We just found termites underneath the kitchen sink. We would like to engage a pest control to sort out the problem. Can you recommend a company that you have worked with that has reliability, dependable and that is good value in service? Much appreciate your advice.
  3. Dear all, Say if you are a PR and bought yrself a resale flat. Later in life you work hard and paid in full for the unit. Then one fine day, you got into situations whereby yr PR revoked. Nevertheless, it is only you but not yr spouse and kids. They are Singaporean. With this, what will happen to the ownership of HDB flats noting the fact that you are not a PR and co-owner as in yr wife is a SG citizen. My question is, will HDB force you to sell the flat despite knowing that the co-owners are Singaporean citizens?
  4. I recently purchase 2 units of aroma fans from royal falco. I find their product good and pricing wise is reasonable. Service wise is impeccable. Henry of Royal Falco is a honest and person will try hard to give his opinion what is best given the requirements of yr home. I bought Antique version, when delivered, the colors and details of the fans were much better than expected as it is a new batch with new a touch of silvery antique touch. Overall, it is very satisfactory. Installation wise, I have several complaints. Royal Falco have several installers. There is one that does everything - kitchen/toiletry fittings and Fans (W Goh) and Fans only (Steven). My mistake is that I want a person that bundle both kitchen/ toiletry and fans installation. The feller (W Goh) manage to do the following and in the process almost manage to screw up 2 perfect looking fans.: - Didnt do by pass of the fan regulator (can cause motor to breakdown as it is NOT covered under warranty) - The cutting on fan upper cradle (on ceiling) - Cables piercing out from the upper cradle - Lower cradle mounting for lights not screwed tightly - Poor cable management inside the upper cradle - Chipped my beautiful white matt kitchen tiles when installing the kitchen rod The above, as my other M&E contractor from a Electrical firms puts it as very was amateur and NO type of standard installation. This resulted very ugly looking installation. Noticing the above, I went to see Henry personally, he sort out the above by offering (with his own cost) another contractor (Steven) to refit the installation. Steven manage to rectify all the above (except for the chipped tiles which he cant do anything about). I learned, this W Goh manage to screw a few other jobs. I have no qualms about the service provide by Royal Falco, exceptionally good service, pricing, prompt. Would highly recommend anyone to buy from them. My only advice is to use Steven to install the fans. He did a very professional job in sorting the fans the way it should be. PLEASE INSIST ON USING STEVEN TO INSTALL THE FANS.
  5. I've got Philips FC9228. Bought 2 yr ago from Hardly Normal (Harvey Norman). Abt 540-580. Comes with very very strong sucking power, enough to suck a bowling ball up and up. Autocleaning mech to grind dust. Comes with HEPA filter. Remote function to adjust the suction power. Power rating at 2000w. Cleaning the dust pan abt 6 months once. HEPA filter, havent change yet even after 2 yrs of use. Likes - Looooong power cords which allows me to drag the feller around the house. - Adjust the suction is easy with my thumbs - The arms are easy extendable - The various types of plastic nozzles are mounted on the handle, allowing easy to change - When storing the vacuum, the handle and nozzles can be easily mount on the back of cleaner - Can suck every thing at home - dust, insects, coins, screws, toys, plastics... - Can withstand vacuum stress and punishments - Dont need frequent cleaning of dust pans. - Small in size (compared to my last vacuum) Complaints - Brushes on the nozzles falls off. - Heat from the back of the cleaner Other this, i am happy with this vacuum cleaner. Good buy.'
  6. Buy a old resale block and wait for enbloc then you will get a new one. Then dun need to bother abt ceiling income.. Same solution to get you a new unit of hdb...
  7. Hi everyone, I am about to move in to my place in a months time. The place is pretty old and I reckon the aircond could be about 5 yrs of age. The condenser is rather new, abt 1.5 yrs of age. For my System 4 aircond: - Should I consider using chemical servicing or just normal will do? - How much should I budget for? - Any recommendation of a good air-cond servicing company? - Does Chemical wash really work? Much appreciate your advice.
  8. Vince is dead right to discourage you from getting a soundbar. As much as I am on keen on it, there cant be a true replacement on 5.1 when watching a movie. You may be ok with soundbar for the first few times, later, you might want something else. As a wise men says to another, there is no limits when it comes sound system. You will always want a much better system. If spend money buying one with soundbar, you are kinda stuck. Plus, soundbar is only effective if you have a room with 4 walls. Folks that I know, they fine even watching with Stereo watching a movie. SAVE your money, get a true audio set, even with a 2.0 system, they rocks with sheer clarity. Believe it or not, even a simple JBL packs a punch. It is probably half the price of a soundbar...
  9. Hi, Has anyone used a samsung Side by Side fridge before? They used to have a lot of problems with their compressors (years and years ago) had pretty frequent breakdowns. Do you own one? Can you give us some advice on the products?
  10. saw this FAQ in one of the fan manufacturer website... 25. How low should a ceiling fan hang? * Ceiling fans should not hang any lower than 7ft from the floor. My reply.... No wonder hdb request removal of the fans when you do a resale of apartment.
  11. Thanks for yr inputs. Ya, i agree on the low height problem. If installed with light, then for sure kids will have field time to see who can jump up and touch the fan. The height issue is kinda at the top of my decision making now. Even with 13", for me it is still very low. I am seriously contemplating the 3 blades. I saw some seriously fan designs from Elmarks and it is appealing. The wish that I have, is that HDB could have design the blocks to be much taller.
  12. Hi, I am planning to buy a aroma fan from royal falco, can i find what is the height of the fan from ceiling after the installation? My hdb unit's ceiling height is only 94", so I am kinda concerned that it will be to low after installation.
  13. Thanks everyone. Will sure to avoid those chipboard and choose solid wood.
  14. Mrs is looking at buying a fair amount of stuff from Ikea, anyone has any experience in their furnitures i.e. bed and mattress, sofas? Much appreciate your feedback.
