  1. Miele is made in Germany and lasts for 20yrs! They recently won an award for the record third yr, the best brand for home appliances in the Uk, by the Which? consumer watchdog! http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/press-rele...2010-152778.php
  2. No vacuum can do an air purifier job as vacuum can only on for a certain amount of time unlike air purifiers.. the closest u can get in vacuum cleaners are the dyson and miele vacuums with true hepa filters! air purifiers u can get a gd one from honeywell!
  3. Hi potong, Im afraid u r utterly incorrect! The load capacity of ur clothes has nothing to do with the rpm at all! What matters actually are the TYPE of clothes u put in! For eg; in f/l machines, max rpm of 1400 or 1600 is recommended for daily cottons or towels! N the user manuals always allow for full load washing when using COTTON cycles! delicates or machine washable silks usually recommend a rpm not more than 600. However for delicates, a load of not more than 2 kg is advised for most brands, as the delicate nature of the material will samaged if too big a load is added! denims n dark clothings not more than 800rpm. And daily mixed load are recommended for mostly not more than half load with average rpm of 1000 or 900! I really hope all users will not be confused about this! It doesnt mean high rpm will damaged ur clothes, it just meant u have to choose the correct program for the materials u wash! Never ever just dump all ur clothings in a f/loader like what u always do with top loaders, if u want to take care of ur clothes. Separate delicates with normal wear! U can call the customer care for best washing recommendation for the brand of f/loaders u use!
  4. Should be ok... as long as u can fit in ur fist on top of the drum after loading should be no problem!
  5. totally agreed! I always emphasis importance on the needs? the trade-offs between price and quality, and the usage. I hate to say this, but alot of locals, me including sometimes always subscribe to this logic, buy the cheapest, spoilt, just change another one. and forgot by doing this, we are contributing alot to environment damage as well as alot of parts are non-recyclable! BUY CHEAP, BUY TWICE!
  6. actually, there are alot of misconceptions bout this. The faster rpm range are more for the type of clothing u r washing. Foe eg; wearable cottons and towel are best spun at the optimum rpm as most water can be extracted out of them and for silks, not more than 400rpm will be preferred. Most modern washers will have a recommended range for the programs u chose. If a lower rpm is better, then all the manufacturers wil be crazy to price higher rpm machines more expensively. the 1200rpm model for bosch, i think is around $1599, 1400rpm $1699 and 1600 rpm $1900 respectively. I'm not sure of the exact prices as it differs from store to stores.. However, i do not recommend u to wash king size comforters/duvets in front load machines though.. It will not wash properly and the life span will be compromised. I like to warn this because i realize alot of salesmen nowadays always say u can do that because the drums are very big. Don't believe them because, in the end u r still fitting into a 60cm by 60cm machine. a lot of stress will be weighing on the machine if u do this often enough. Send them to a laundry instead!
  7. That panasonic model should be a china/thailand model. Overall, I don't thimk the build quality is awesome as with most asian brands( too many plastic parts) But if features are what u r talking about, Its a very good buy and the price is very gd too! It even uses an inverter motor that are better than alot of motors in the market. The rpm is 1400 if I'm not wrong? The only cons I can think of is japanese brands like panasonic/hitachi/toshiba , they are trying to penetrate the front-loading market. But however, they always designed their washers sort of like a asian top loader hybrid, meaning the features and programs are what u likely to be accustomed to seeing in a top loader. So I do have slight doubts over their rinsing and washing capabilities, because front loaders normally washes differently from top loaders and they have not much experiences in building front loaders. But from the specs, its incredibly value for $$$! happy shopping!
  8. The latest series for bosch would be the Logixx 8 series. They have 3 ranges, respectively from 1200 rpm, 1400rpm and the highest range is up to 1600 rpm with a lot of features for different types of stains. These are all 8kg machines and made in germany. The rest of the bosch models are made in Thai, and I don't recommend them. Bosch recently introduce 2 new features, "ecoperfect" , which u can save on energy of up to 20%, if Im not wrong, and "speedperfect" which reduced the washing time, on these latest ranges. In all, I find the latest "made in Germany " ranges from bosch quite reasonable, if u can't afford the best, which is the Miele! Happy shopping!!
  9. s2120 $308 with 2 additional accessories! s 4212 $408. Best denki ngee ann, imm and plaza sing all sweling.
  10. if minimalist approach id ur key, maybe u can visit Hugo kitchens at parkmall! They do really nice kitchens!
  11. Well, this topic now are going into cars... haha! Heard that Mercedes benz prides itself as having 60% of its components in-house built! Well, miele has 80% of its components in-house produced! Geez! In which case, miele has just won yet another award from the consumer watchdog Which? for the best brand for reliability all across UK, for its washers, dryers, and vacuum cleaners in the jan 2010 nationwide survey! Read press release here! http://www.prweb.com/releases/2010/01/prweb3465954.htm
  12. U be surprised at how water efficient and energy efficient it can be! For a 12 place settings, a gd dishwasher can use as little as 10 litres of water and 1kw of electricity an hr! However much depends on the set up of ur kitchen! alot of designers in sg nowadays dun focus attention on kitchens and thus not much space left for a dishwasher to be integrated, and alot of condo units actually have tiny kitchens..
  13. Choice, an independant consumer magazine based in australia, recently rated this model by miele as the best buy in its nov 2009 report on vacuum cleaners with a price range of $200 to $300! In any case, every miele is tested for its rigidity, for eg hose tested 120000 by 5kg weight, cord wind and rewind 10000 times, motors continuos operation for 1000 hrs. It comes with a 9-ply dustbags that filtrates to the fuinest dust particles, and its a 100 per cent sealed suction vacuum, meaning, fine dust dun escape from any parts of the vacuum,.. which no other manufacturer can boast to achieve! The karcher has a very good steam cleaner, and its more known for wet cleaning, industrial cleaning, whereas miele has been known to provide the best domestic vacuum cleaners since 1899. another thing is, they have been winning awards after awards in independant testing on vacs as well as kitchen products.. Most recently the which? uk consumer awars survey which rates the miele as the best brand overall in the Uk! http://www.ibtimes.com/prnews/20100120/mie...lity-survey.htm
  14. i think the basic miele starts from around $3k to 5k, same as with gaggenau. U can check with Miele at the showroom at winsland hse or BSH home appliances at jalan pemimpin! Both are gd brands, it depends on the look ur kitchen wants! Miele of course, will be the preferrd choice for me!
  15. r u allergic? other than carpets whats the flloring like? marble, parquet? N sze of ur house etc? Generally, u need a vacuum cleaner with a turbo-brush to spin the pet fur and dander out of the carpet. If its for a big house, a stronger powered one might be better. Most importantly, ur budget? If u need a good one, there is a bagless brand called dyson animal , or bagged Miele cat and dog! Both are expensive but very good!
  16. This is a thorough information on UKwhitegoods forum, an engineers website in the Uk. It is most informative and helpful, especially here where people always think, the bigger the load capacity a washer is, the better(even more so if it's cheaper). This is information manufacturers wont tell u! http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?...age&pid=178
  17. I saw this model, but its selling for $4410 in sg... It has the load/detergent indicator though, ehich is useful if u want to knoe how much detergent for the load u put in. It actually senses the exact load capacity u put in.. Pretty! The hygiene wash is also highly recommended for allergy users by allergybuyersclub.. However, the homecare series is only $3998 n u get a dryer packaged in... Haha ,But the w4446 be the ideal machine if u r willing to take the plunge!! Haha leafania, how's the "war' with Mr cromo going on? Did he just say we r twins??? r u older or i am?
  18. Frankly speaking, nothing against korean brands.. but the way they drop prices so dramatically, makes me wonder whats the actual cost price of the machine... a model can drop to less than half price in 3 yrs? which makes me ponder in deep the washerhelp website's remarks! www.washerhelp.co.uk '' WASHING MACHINES BUILD R NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE'' TO PUT INFLATION INTO RESPECT, WASHING MACHINE PRICES NOW SHOULD BE MORE THAN DOUBLE THAT 10 YRS AGO. BUT NOW U GET MORE FEATURES AT LOWER PRICES. ITS LIKE PUTTING ALL THE FERARRIS BELLS N WHISTLES IN A RUN DOWN PROTON BODY. WHAT DO U GET?
  19. think u will be the only 1 buying if miele drops to $999/= if that happens, then i'm sure I'll be swearing off miele forever!!
  20. Oh ya, ... hmm the 14331 is alrdy 3 yrs old, arnd there if I'm not wrong.. I used to see it retailing arnd $1599 somewhere few yrs back... hmmm. 3 yrs ago pricing? Oh i remember last yr miele introduced a miele w562 to the sg market retailing around $1.7k. Is that gd enough for u? Unfortunately......... Miele sold off the last sets in less than 5 mths... While ur 14331 is now trying to be cleared off at such a gd price!!! Wow! It really needs drastic measures to clear them off... Maybe the new steam washer will be sold at $999 in 3 yrs time, y can't u wait? sigh.............
  21. It depends on ur needs as i said.. If space is a premium, u dun have much of a choice! The most ideal situation for a washer cum dryer purchase is for small families of 1-3 persons! N drying function is seldom used!
  22. I think best denki is still selling it at $888 or $999, forgot the selling price, either of these 2! Its not scary, just that this model has been around for a few yrs and they are discontinuing and launching new models. This the way for korean brands, snazzy new designs, colours, features will come out to replace older models very fast! Its a gd time to buy now, compared to more $1.6k 2 yrs back!
  23. Hi Jaffa, first of all, how much does the few models u've drawn up cost? What's the most important quality u expect out of ur purchase? Price, durability, ease of use, laundry care, time??? prioritise all n u will get a clearer picture.. I understand everybody has their own opinions, so u might get confused! I'm a pro miele user so Cromo gets irked.. N likewise there might be different salesmen scattered all over the country that might offers differing opinions. But once u get a feel of everything, look up the user manuals, u will get a claearer picture of what might suits u! This is a review by a consumer from the states on the miele w4840. (model not available here). http://www.epinions.com/review/Miele_W4840/content_417949388420 But its interesting how he rates, 1/3 more the price, 5 times the quality, when he compared the miele to the lg steam washer n maytag!
