ok kari sorry i took a long time to reply. ok the drawing above.. cos my mom wants to have full length full height wardrobe at the door, ID said must have one length so its nicer, hence it is something like the red line. therefore it will reduce depth as compared to the green line as it is shorter in length and wont be in the way of the door so we have more depth. my only worry is that shld we go ahead with full length, my mom might find the depth to be insufficient for her. sorry for the ugly drawing, just used paint to roughly draw.

wah pinkpetter and her "warfare"techniques! yea i second that. cos thats kinda what im doing. ;p

hey there duckie. im kinda like u, aiming for the minimalist zen look if possible. looking at the quote, i believe there's some areas that needs to be modified (e.g measurements to your actual size in the house etc) and if you havent spoken to them at all, best to send down your floor plan instead of taking the details above as fixed cos u might be in for a rude shock when the finalized price based on actual on site measurement / floor plan is given to you. happy renovating!
-
actually your ID shld be the one to advice you on placement. have you checked with them?
-
wow its hard to tell you what i mean so give me a while i draw it out for u and post it. im not keen on sliding cos when u slide to one side, u cannot access that part. so i prefer swing where i access both. i think the interior of a wardrobe is very very important! and how are u wu liao! only u know best how u organize etc. so u must design it to be functional what..

Oh alright. cos we're getting wardrobe too but mom wants it to take up the entire wall at the door and the door limits our depth as IDs have suggested to have it all in one length so it looks nicer. we're kinda worried that it will be too shallow for our clothes. i see you opted for sliding doors but we're going for swing so we have full access of the wardrobe when doors are open plus it is cheaper! for your wardrobe, did u tell them how u wanna install the interiors? as in the different sections etc?

ok cool. keep me posted. im getting quite confused with who hired which ID/Contractor so if u told me b4, im so sorry to ask again. with the forum down, it really doesnt help. ;p

wow. sounds like lots of work done and price seems right too! may i know why u chose chrome piping instead of stainless steel? I've called up zack as per your recommendation. sounds like a nice chap. hope all will proceed smoothly. will keep u updated. also, how come u are doing so little? -
so shogen, who's your ID/contractor and what's the damage like? and its a nice layout to have, ample space.
-
actually i said $15k.. but they said they might exceed. 1 exceeded by a lot. currently standing at 22K++ well i guess i will have to check with my contractor regarding granite. rar! anything for it to be lasting!
-
welcome! and your house seems pretty big and straightforward to design! all the best and looking forward to hear from u more
-
well the $2.5k is to hack everything that is hackable within the house wow it is costly. i have a feeling that im quoted for this Bellus solid surface top. yea i get what u mean. i just want no frills and the bare essentials. no false ceiling, L box etc.
-
hi there! your house looks so comfy and homely! may i ask who reno your place? as in those little touchups that you did? thanks!
-
hello kari, read your blog and i gotta say your daughter's room is awesome! i'd be excited if i were her. and wow your wardrobe does seem big. mind telling me the depth of it? im planning to do a wardrobe that is also 9ft long.. now it looks huge!! in total how many doors is it?
-
well i believe if we were to reno and demolishing is part of the work to be done, just gotta bite the bullet and do it once and for all for a beautiful home but even so, i've been quoted $2500 for hacking of whole house (existing floor, cement screed etc) is that ex for a 3-roomer? is granite more costly than the std worktops? i doubt we will be stayin there to watch them and my mom has a part time job so when she works she cant watch them. well i think we were kinda noob in the first few rounds of meeting and discussion but i have armed myself with knowledge here so its harder to cheat me now! how much do you think is a fair price to reno a 3-room with carpentry kept to a minimum? (only kitchen cabi & wardrobe, rest we will buy)

have u signed with them? if not i can pass u some contacts of mine. tho my budget is smaller than yours they still entertain me so perhaps u might have better luck with them? -
its a mistake as the wiring has been laid esp in places like the kitchen where we will do new wall tiles. usual course is to take out old wires, do wall tiles, lay new wires blah blah blah. but now my wiring is up and frankly, its all over the place as the electrician followed the way the old wires are laid.. and my power switches are so high up. will take pic and show u what i mean. ya i realise i can do that but i wanna try to get it cheaper for total of both.. and my area has been upgraded, but as i was young and very noob, my parents called the shots so i was unaware of the discussion. my mom cooks a lot and sometimes i cook too. i would say that we cook more than the average so need a good worktop. when ah soon quotes u, will he volunteer info on the origin of the items? i have a few ppl that i spoke to who dont really specify and i lost track of who i asked and who i did not. ya man i heard about those dishonest contractors trying to pas these things off. i will check to make sure but i hope that there's a bond of trust formed.

so far 1 guy told me its a malaysian counter top. normally for those that u mention, how much is it? yup it can even go under $1k if i use some non nippon/ICI paint, like $850?? but i want nippon/ICI so top up till $1k.
-
WOW shogen u are faster than me!! hahaha so who is your selected ID? hurry hurry upload and congrats on starting works! enjoy korea! :]

changed the lights alr, which was a mistake! ya man the toilet overhaul is a killer! so tempted to just drop it and use the money to spruce up some other area due to tight budget, we will go for top and bottom but it will be short length-wise. worktop stated in quote is solid surface worktop, forgot the technical material term they used. is there any particular one to look for? so far some paint quotes for my 3rm is $1k, very good r me. actually... pinkpetter, your quote is very spot on! u can be ID alr!
