  1. LOL. Bro, I think you better just snap some nice pics and then you can silence the critics lah. Somehow I think its too abstract liao that's why!
  2. Carpentry arrived on Saturday. The whole flat looks like storeroom so I didn't take any pics. They're gonna start fixing up the carpentry from today till this Wednesday, starting with the Kitchen cabinets and Toilet Vanity Tops first. So I guess by Wednesday, all the fixtures will be in place and the house will be near complete (at last!) Think this week they'll install my balcony grille too. Wanted to leave it open lah, but with 2 'spiderman' kids like mine. Think better sacrifice aesthetics for safety.
  3. Aiyah, maybe that's "some people's" way of suffering for their art mah! Ahahahahahaha! I love this drama!
  4. Kopi. Good selection of tiles. Glad you managed to find nice ones at Hafary. I always found the Defu branch of Hafary to have quite a good selection of tiles. The Red-White combo for the kitchen will really stand out. Are you planning to do your cabinets white and red too? Or perhaps black? For the MBR toilet, I think your choice (Option 1) of the green with the grey stone floor is very unique and quite high-end European style while the resort themed choice (Option 2) is a 'safe' and 'can't go wrong' choice. If you decide on resort, I think you'd have to really need to ensure the entire bath works towards that theme to bring it out completely. If I had to choose between the 2 choices, my vote goes to Option 1. Oh btw, forgot to add earlier when I posted, since you have time before reno, don't be shy about going back to the tile shops over and over again to get your choice right. Not sure if you and your wife will even end up 'fighting' over choices like me and my wife, but well, since you'll be living with the tiles for some time. Better to get it right and not regret lah. Also, if you have time go visit Rice Fields - They have an excellent selection of tiles from Europe which are very nice too.
  5. Yes indeed. New's kind contributions are really inspiring and infectious! I can't afford her fees though! Kekekekeke! Heya Rasp. My wife and me as a mural? Ahahahaha ... my dear pal New also suggested that, but cannot lah. So pai seh leh. Imagine come into my house see a vain couple larger than life on the wall! I think I'll save the 'vain' shots from my wedding album for the MBR instead. Yah, if mural goes ahead, it'll be definitely in black/white/grey theme. Another thing we thought to make it simple would be to do stripes instead.
  6. LIGHTING, AIR-CON AND PARQUET WORKS - 7 to 11 SEPT More update on reno progress. Last week's works revolved mainly on finishing up the remaining lighting points, final installation of the air-con fan coil units, plus the first round of grinding for the parquet and installation of some additional skirtings around the partition areas. The house's looking more and more complete as the week passes! When we were planning on the lighting for our home, wifey and I decided to not bother too much about getting fancy lights, but rather keep the lighting simple. Thus, for all the rooms, we're using downlights in the false ceilings with the exception of the foyer, common bath and balcony. To break the monotony, and create room for the living room's ceiling fan, a simple cove light was incorporated. We used warm white for the entire house. I foresee that is gonna see some complaints from my mum though. To break the monotony of the downlights, we chose a simple crystal effect light for the foyer. Air-Con unit installed and parquet floor ground. Seems a little 'smoky' in the room, think its the fumes or vapours from the grinding, which is quite toxic and can consume your nostrils and eyes like teargas.
  7. Nice recess and shoe cabinet layout, Ivy! Shoe ownership looks equally spread between all family members. If it was mine I think at most I own 2 shelves and the rest take up by the Imelda Marcos of my home .. ooops... shhhhhh! The veneer main door and handle looks very class leh! I'm looking for a front door grille with a design similar to yours (horizontal lines) - Was wondering if you could advise on the rough cost for something like that?
  8. Hi silverbullet. Really nice house you got there. Love the WIW passageway to the bathroom. Very nice hotel feel. The house overall is indeed very warm, cosy and comfy. Not to mention luxe and classy too!
  9. A possible 'reason' you can use for the request to change the 1st appointment date is 'Will be outstation/overseas'. But of course as mentioned, both parties must be willing to accept and agree to the date change.
  10. BD! Welcome Back! Saw the wardrobe space. Yes it is indeed really tight! I'm glad on my end we ended up shifting the wardrobe over to the next room and leave that original tiny space for a dresser area instead. Your reno's looking good so far man. Looks like I got another buddy with a white white house. Ahahahahaha!
  11. Heya PJ, Samsung Laser Printers are not bad. I'm using the Black/White ML-2851ND. So far very reliable and no problems. I think the CLX-3175 also has 2-sided printing options. Long run, laser costs will be more economical than inkjets, plus get better resolution print outs. If you have budget, can consider the Canon ones too. They're also pretty good, but unfortunately pricey.
  12. Just trying out some wall mural designs for fun... James Dean Audrey Hepburn
  13. Its always good to have BD back to add some 'spice' back to our blogs lah. At least his kinda spice more interesting than some other psycho's!
  14. Aiyo, sad to hear that HDB threw a spanner in the works for your purchase. Can understand the difficulty especially if it still involves the current owners signing a legal document. Like what dsman said, sometimes I really wonder if they know what they're doing as what they tell us homeowners is like not complete or the same as their other colleauges. Maybe you can wait for dsman's feedback to see how it goes. If can use CPF, will be easier for you.
  15. Aiyah, where got charge commision? Just admin fee, advertising space fee, booking fee, transaction fee and GST nia! But you my buddy lah, so I waive for you ... in exchange for art lessons! Ehehehehehehehe!
  16. coffee, congrats on getting the recess space!
  17. Ya. Am thinking of doing it lah. Although the kids' stuff looks totally messy and abstract, but I think once cropped and framed, it can look interesting on one of the walls, maybe at the corridor between the rooms. Christine doesn't mind putting up the illustrations on the wall lah. I did sound her out about putting a Hepburn icon. Of course I not expecting you to paint lah, but the idea is really very good to explore. I was thinking if customise, I have to convert the low-res image to those illustration in vector format, then can expand to size then do digital print lah. $3000 I cannot afford leh. sticker I think still can la... Ahahahahaha!
  18. Cute Cute! Eh, u saying I look like Vargas ar? No way lah! Hey, he's my saviour and inspiration leh! If not for him, I won't pass figure drawing one hor? Last time I remember I used a Vargas book for reference and left it openly in my room. Kenna big-time scolding and lecture from my parents cos' they thought its adult-material, until I show them my figure drawing. Aiyah, my life always revolve around sexy women one mah ... from drawing to fashion. But only 1 darling lah *Politically correct statement to avoid bashing* Come to think of it, I think the white ceiling also kinda boring leh .. maybe some colour wld be nice. Painting in master toilet cannot lah... kids also use there leh. Don't want my boys to start asking curious questions. So corny siah you! 'Imagine' ... Hey, thanks alot for the render! It looks great! Christine likes it too actually. Can definitely explore. But if do, will it be in illustration form, or full high-res?
  19. Beany and Pet, Thanks for your advice on the blinds! I'll check out both options. Beany: Yup, one of those I saw was the outdoor bamboo ones. I think they have to be secured by some hooks that will be placed on the ground level. Pet: Agreed. Acrylic would definitely be more durable option. Is this the colourful one in the pic you posted?
  20. PJ, your treatment room's looking more cosy after the mini revamp! Decals will certainly add a more personal touch.
  21. Oh BTW, wanted to ask for some help with recommendations for blinds. In particular, I'm looking to get a set of blinds that can withstand and block out rain for my balcony. I realised once it rains and with the strong winds, my entire balcony floor will get wet. I was thinking of a roller bamboo blind with PVC or other waterproof material on the side that faces the open, or if possible, simply a blind made of material that can repel water (Like those awnings in private houses). Any suggestions and ideas are most welcome. Thanks!
  22. Heya Trevor, Good to see your reno moving along. Sorry to hear about the neighbour incident, but just chill and stay cool lah. No point getting worked up and spoil your mood. Although she seems unreasonable, I suppose its just her anger getting the better of her. But that being said, I suppose she should've used some of her own common sense to note that renovation is ongoing at your unit. After all, there would already have been noise from the hacking, and also, there'd be an official renovation notice pasted outside your unit too, so she can't claim she don't know right? But then again, people will be people lah.
  23. Heya Angel. Welcome back. Hope you had a good break! Thanks for your compliments on the Orange. Some colour's always better than having an entirely white house! People are people lah. You get all kinds of them in every forum. Time does pass by fast. Its been slightly over a month now and I'm also quite pleased with the progress so far as most of the major stuff's pretty much done. The carpentry should be coming in end this week or early next week, so I guess we're on schedule. *Fingers crossed* I think I better start getting down to packing. I haven't packed or started clearing stuff from my present place yet!
  24. Heya Beany. Seriously, when I went to the house on Sunday when it was quite sunny and hot. I really cannot look at the white walls too long cos' its too glaring. Not used to it. We did consider those other white shades lah. But in the end, wifey says plain white is the best. Clean, neat and easy to touch up. Yeah right, wait till the kids start running and jumping around. I did use Orchid White for one of the rooms though. Glad to see your place is more or less ready. When will you be moving in? We should meet up one of these days when you're in the area. I'll surely miss the convenience of our current location.
  25. Ahahahahaha! Like that I really won't need Fengshui to 'HUAT' oredi! I must do kim kim goot goot ceiling lah. Learn from New's style.
