Dear All, I have talked to uncle this afternoon and he has explained to me that he forgot that he has closed the account as the bank is really ulu and very inconvenient for him!! I accepted his reason and he said that he will settle the matter on Mon. As for the electrician, I will talk to him again on Mon and also bout the electrical works to uncle! Trev

Cos i used uncle's name to borrow $$ from bank and uncle agreed earlier on to return me the $$ as i have already paid him 17k liao! (which is 2/3 of what is owed to him!) She is rather old and I think pretty stubborn! I roughly know his transactions with them! More or less cos I have been around when uncle's making payment. as above hee... Hi Fini! I have spoken to uncle this afternoon! He says he called me immediately after talking to someone whose house is from AMK!!! I was like okay! Then I realised that maybe i have over speculated! Oh i have given uncle 17k out of about 25k (the others are due to Ah Wei) = 65% hmmmm... I think i am one of those who has given uncle the most!!!!

Hi People and all Sooners!!! I had an eventful week making silly purchases and buying food for the workers! I will be posting some progress pics soon to update on the progress of my reno, however, that said, i would like to ask my fellow sooners and forumers who are with uncle soon: EVENT 1 First incident happened on Thurs 1 Oct. I received a check from uncle on fri 25 Sept for 12k (that is he pay me back 12k). However on Fri 2 Oct, i received a letter from OCBC informing me that the cheque bounced. I actually expected it to bounce. However what i did not expect is the following reason: ACCOUNT CLOSED. I was rather taken aback as I was shocked that uncle gave me a cheque from a closed account! EVENT 2 The second incident happened to me shortly before i called uncle. The electrician Kelvin called me (I basically have all the sub cons number and uncle also told them to call me so that i can tell them what i wan!!!) to inform me that uncle told him that he is not able to pay Kelvin the initial deposit for the electrical works now. He needs to delay several days. Kelvin asked me to then chase uncle!! And so i called uncle shortly after the 2 incidents. He sounded rather pissed or irritated (think should not call him after 3pm!!!!) and told me that he will investigate the reason why the cheque bounced. Now, i know that uncle is saying it jus to buy time. I am fine with that and I am NOT going to talk to him about it til Mon or Tues (when he is more free and less irritated?!?!). However, he also told me that the electrician is busy and will start later. Trev P/S: As Uncle has requested, i have modified my post!!!

Hi Bluewater, Currently uncle is also doing my place. I also had problems getting him to give me a quote. However, jus to let you know, at least uncle gave me a quote. I went to 10 IDs only got 3 quotes back. In fact, I got my keys in mid july. I got uncle to quote me in early july, he dragged my quote all the way til mid august and i only started on 1 sept! I was also quite frustrated but bo pian, only uncle can give me what i want at the price i can pay In fact, uncle's price is so irrisistable that ALL IDs quoted me at 55k or above, uncle is giving it to me at only 45k! The reasons why he is dragging your quote is becos (my speculations): 1. He really have too many projects on hand. 2. He really dun have time to quote you. 3. He really hates to type quotes or calculate the amount involved. 4. To him he has so many things on hand that he got used to forgetting about his appointments with customers! Let me just say that he has his good and bad points, if you cant tahan better not take him! I have met very responsible IDs but they charge me at least 15k above uncle, so to save 15k, i will accept uncle's flaws!!! Trev

Hi people, Havent been on forum for some time cos: 1. BOTH my laptop + desktop + even aircon broke down (MUST be 7th month!!!) 2. Then lagi more suay, kanna food poisoning had to stay in hospital for 2 days!!! 3. **** busy with work, now my peak period man, somemore must monitor reno!!! Anyway, something miraculous happened for once, and i must share with ALL sooners!!! UNCLE ACTUALLY CHASED ME instead hahahahaha.... Yes, it did happened!!! He called me twice last week! Although very little work was done, he called me twice to get the pipings in my toilet done (cos supposed to be done by the HDB contractor upgrading my toilet!) and i actually forgot to do it the first time and so he called me on FRIDAY and asked me why it was not done!!! (actually he should know better!) but i was so busy that i forgot but got the pipes settled on Sat and yesterday as usual, NJD!!! Sigh, uncle uncle, you are really interesting! but at least i know that he is actually doing onsite visit when work's going on!!!

hi jessyln, the best time to catch him i think is before 2-3pm, cos no one wanna meet him mah!!! Actually, i also dun wanna make appointment with him liao cos he never ever keep one, but he has calling me, NOT the other way, maybe i more bo chap than him!! call him before 3 and try to see him before that, try to do so on an off day!?!? Hi Seashell, I have a mirror with lighting, BUT uncle has ALREADY laid the tiles... Hmmmm, Since it is already done, I should ask him whether can hide the wirings in the box ups or not, cos i got quite a few box ups in my toilet!!!! Oh BUt i am doing false ceiling or L-Box for the most of the house (except toilet and kitchen), i think the wirings and pipings can be hidden easily!!! Just that I am concerned about the location of the aircon!!! Trev

Hi Rasp, I got a permit for my windows, but not for the tiles nor the walls hmmmm... I have 2 walls changed! The first is at the toilet and second between the masterbed room and guest room!!! I shifted them out slightly, for the toilet, i added 0.6m square as in HDB regulations! The second wall cos very wierd, so i made it straight! hmmm... Maybe I should get uncle to apply for permit! I have the hacking permit too, jus not for the tiling and construction!!! sigh.... Wo De Ming hao ku hahaha

Hi seashell, thanks for your advice! will have to talk to uncle then!!! Not sure if got quote concealed wiring or not, but it was NOT cheap!!! Anyway, i did ask uncle to conceal and he told me that he will do so for my place, i think i have to remind him that i want ALL wiring to be concealed.... hmmm.... Actually i did tell him where and how i wanna run my aircon wiring and pipes, not sure if he remembers and take into consideration!!! Hmmmm will have to talk to him soon bout this!! And oh it is good that he is not taking any more work now cos he is really very very busy!!! Trev

Hey Fini, Talked to uncle today and he told me that he wanna do plastering, tiling, plumbing + rewiring by next week!!! And i was like WTF!?!??! I know he can't keep to schedule and i was hoping that he would give me a more realistic timeline, so i tot, i will have to chase him end of the week again!!! Hmmmm has he been giving you such incredulous promises!??! But he really sounded like he is intent on finishing my place fast... i wonder why?!?! Cos i only asked him about plastering, what has the others got to do with that?!? hmmmm.... Has he been promising you anything!??! Hi Fini, I want to run it hidden, but dunno if now too late to do so!!! I will ask if they can hide it in the box ups!! I got several box up in my toilet so i can hide all these stuffs!!! My windows are up already liao, dun ask me why so fast!! Uncle finish in 1 day!!! I dun think he visit daily, think he is delaying both our sides, we mus push him!!! I also realise that he did not apply for ANY permit for my side at all!!! My hacking is done by another contractor, so that contractor got the hacking permit for me, BUT apparently, i heard that if building walls need to get permit too!!! Is that true?!?!? UNcle say no need but my other contractors say need!!!! Sigh.... Trev

Hi Fini! Eh actually, the tilers has completed half of my toilet! The pipes have been run under the tiles, and the floor and most of the wall tiles are already up on my toilet! I din ask for a timeline actually, but the tiler did roughly tell me, but i am not sure if uncle will follow cos he already postpone the plastering hmmmm.... My wiring for my toilet has not been run yet!!! I think i may have missed that and i will need to let the tilers know when they get back and see uncle!!!! Hmmmm.... Actually, today also NJD, not sure if they will start work on my side on Mon!!! Trev

Hi Fini According to the tilers, my place is to start plastering tml!!! Then next monday the tilers will return!!! Then my air con people will come in the following week! Hi Tulip, yes but this is my first time and I was quite traumatised! I know I am at fault, however her shouting from the start to the end just cheesed me off boy!!!! I hope I have no more such unruly neighbours!!! Yes fini, it is indeed a lesson learnt! Uncle's workers are not very polite, we have to do the neighbourly stuffs all by ourselves! In fact, I only knew they were doing windows after they were 50% installed! They are doing the floor tiles now so i am hoping they will finish in bout 1 week + time! How's your place!??!? Are they beyond the hacking and clearing stage? I felt like it, just i really have no idea which level she is from, but if i ever see her again, i will verbally abuse her back hahahaha..... To take revenge for uncle's poor tiler!!!! I really have no idea how she is gonna sue?!?! Go town council?!?! Hi coffee, Nope it will not ruin my mood to have the most wonderful home my budget can afford me to!!! I am now just praying that the banks approve my loans, if not have to start saving $$$ sigh.... Actually if i were her i would be angry too, who would not right?!??! But she needs to give me a chance to explain and accept the fact that it was not on purpose!!! She wanted me to give out leaflets to every flat i suppose, siao!!! You are right!!! hahaha... maybe i should just do what the king did, and give her a cantona style kungfu kick!!!! Then she will shut the **** up!!! hahahaha..... I should talk to other neighbours to see if they had been traumatised by her before!!! Anyway, my friend commented that havent move in already need to go and mediate with HDB hahahha...

Anyways, today while i was inspecting my flat (as usual i will spend 30 mins talking cock with the workers and buy them some drinks), a mad neighbour from down stairs (i stay on the 16th) rushed into my place and started screaming at my innocent tiler who was busy smoothening the walls. I was wondering why was she scolding the worker when the owner (that is me) was standing next to her and when her complaints are about the windows: ME: Hello, auntie what happened? I am the owner! SIAO AUNTIE: Wei, why you did not inform us that you are doing your windows? Do you know that my clothes are dirty from all the cement and dust? ME: Sorry Auntie, but I am new to this and I did not know that I need to inform everybody below me that i am changing windows. SIAO AUNTIE: But you cannot do this! You cannot say you dont know, now our clothes are dirty now! Everyone informs us whenever they are renovating their windows. ME: Sorry Auntie but i really do not know i need to inform anyone, somemore, i din know that they are renovating the windows today! Anyway, it is already done, next time we will inform you all! Sorry!!! SIAO AUNTIE: What next time?!?!? I am going to sue you for dirtying our clothes!!! ME: HUH!?!??! (giving her the total black and TL and WTF face!!!) Okay, i already told you that I do not know about this at all. What is your problem?!?!? You have been shouting at me and my workers the moment you step in!!! SIAO AUNTIE: Hello!?!!? Would you be nice if your clothes are dirty?!??! ME: (That was when i lost it with that comment) That's too bad then. Anyway, the WHOLE block is undergoing upgrading and renovation! Somemore HDB i changing the hanging clothes pole rack for every family, if you wanna hang your clothes outside that is your problem, NOT mine! SIAO AUNTIE: I am going to complaint........ (and she stormed out of my house) ME: You better NOT be too much okay.... SIAO AUNTIE: you dirty my clothes, who's the one who is too much?!?!? ANd with that the biatch stormed off! I was like WHAT THE **** is wrong with that old lady!!!! The workers were at fault and I have no idea what they did! Yes, the workers were wrong to dirty her clothes, but it is not like some life or death matter! ****, we did not like throw mangosteen juice from my windows (i was rather tempted to actually, though i know this is SILLY!?!?!?)!!! It is not like I know what is going on and dirtied her clothes purposely! I apologised no less than 3 times and so i dunno what she wants!??!?! Anyway, if she complaints, I am going to report her to the police for trespssing my property without permission + verbal abuse hahahaha... And yah, i know i can be quite childish, but she really stepped on my tail and there is no pity from me for her pathetic clothes!!!!
