  1. Hi People, I have a problem with my aircon. I renovated 3 years ago and redid everything. We bought 7 new aircon and ran new wiring inside all the walls. Problem now is that 2 of the units have died and the electrician came twice and replace the power wiring. First time was free. Second time cost me $200. Now the third unit has died. The electrician blamed the wiring supplier 3 years ago of giving him faulty wires. He said that everyone will have this problem as all the wires in singapore is problematic. It is really fustrating as this involves hacking my walls all over again. Question to bros here who have done this before, do your electrician run a pipe to run the wires or just bury the wires? what sort of wires can be buried inside the walls? Should I replace all my wires at one go but I don't trust the electrician. Anyone has contacts for aircon installation?
  2. 100k, that is super cheap. Almost impossible in my opinon. I guess you are asking for much less work than TS. Did you change the roof? Staircase? Only change ground floor tiles. No woodwork in bedrooms since you are keeping wardrobes. Toilets? Each toilet probably cost close to 10k if I remember correctly especially if you use good fittings. your reno is probably a mix and match reno as you are keeping quite a few old stuff. I did something similar to the TS which is basically change EVERYTHING. I think the TS is asking for more than what I did as I did not change autogate... my built up is 2500sqft. MAjor items done Wetorks 1) redo all flooring, marble for living, ground floor bedroom, tiles for kitchen, backyard, car porch. Timber strip flooring for higher floors. Redo staircase (Expensive). 2) change roof tiles 3) redo all toilets, homo tiles and waterproofing, new fittings. 4) extend backyard roof. Wall tiling for backyard 5) change all windows, foyer doors. Glass doors for TV room, master toilet. Cost, $150k Carpentry, electrical 1) Eletrica1 with new aircon for all rooms. 2) wardrobes, feature walls. 3) new doors 4) painting interior and exterior Cost $100k Furniture 1) Furniture, 2) bathroom fittings 3) lightings 4) appliances Cost $50k Total is $300k.
  3. Guys, Anyone bought leather sofas from Castilla before? when choosing leather, did the salesman as you to top up for the thicker Torello leather vs Omega leather? I paid extra for the thicker Torello leather after buying from Parkmall outlet. But today I went to the castilla warehouse outlet in Sungei Kadut, the salesman says Torello and Omega leather the SAME PRICE.
  4. I just bought 8 leather dining chairs from Castilla. The leather I chose is Torello which after I googled, is a corrected pigmented leather made in Italy (hopefully). The chairs are made in Malaysia. I like the leather because the grain is bigger and it is thicker. Hopefully it will be more durable than my old dining chairs. Castilla can bargain a lot. I am not sure if I got the best price.
  5. Is anyone living with his neighbour just 4m away for landed housing? ie built to the max? To me 4m looks REALLY close. Especially if everyone built high high.... is that sort of landed living desirable for you personally? Or would you rather setback like 4m and have like 8m spacing? but the point is that there is no guarantee that your neighbour will do that so everyone being KS...
  6. People, I saw a very nice coffee table at Space. It is a simple low coffee table, quite big, with a solid dark wood top and stainless steel legs. The price I think was 3-4k which was too expensive. I am wondering if anyone has seen a cheaper similar version, around 1k, anywhere else in singapore? I looked through whole of furniture mall and the coffee tables with stainless steel legs are all glass top... or marble top. here is the pic.
  7. wah.... crazy lah.... some people got too much money lor. I never saw what happened in my estate that cause them to sue each other as I moved in after the incident. But along that stretch I see one of them built a slope up the pedestrian walkway and park along the walkway. Quite a good solution. Luckily my side is relatively empty... my opposite corner neighbour has enough frontage to park 3 cars without blocking his driveway so he don't park inside the driveway. And park his two cars + rubbish bins outside....
  8. Just put your rubbish bin there lor so that they cannot park. a lot of people do this. Better than vandalising people's car. My place is beside a corner terrace and there is a road at the side of the corner terrace. That road is basically to help people uturn out of the estate (no developments) which can park like 7 cars. On CROWDED days, it can park double row (14 cars) and still allow one car to go through. But my road went on the newpapers recently as one neighbour sued another neighbour over parking issue. But those people staying on the other end of the road which is very crowded with no empty parking space.
  9. got people park until block people's gate meh?? My place never see before leh. Got some neighbours dun like people to park outside their frontage so put rubbish bin to chop space.
  10. I noticed that rooftop terrace is very popular nowadays while most old designs never have rooftop terrace. I also wanted to have one but I did not know about all the cons until I read this thread. It seems that heat insulation and water seppage is two serious issues compared to a conventional tiled roof with lots of air pocket below.
  11. The marble flooring I think was $21k but varies with the tiles you chose. ours is cheap ones. Master toilet is 8k for wetworks, not including accesories and carpentry.
  12. sound decisions at Adelphi Level 4.
  13. This glass panel is at the top of the staircase to add in more light from the toilet which has a window. Another view of the dining My photo frame display in the dining room. We hacked the back wall of the kitchen to built another entrance to the yard. Currently the yard is very plain
