  1. Hi, interested in crestar fans for living room and 2 bedrooms. Can pm me your catalogue and pricing? Thanks!
  2. Hi, interested in crestar fans plus installation. Could you send me your catalogue? Thanks!
  3. Anyone had the locks installed by hanman? Had my installation done and was told that paint chipping from the door isn't considered a flaw in workmanship. The installer told us to touch up the door on our own! True or not?
  4. You have an outlet for the ventilating fan to discharge the wet air? There must be some way for the hot/wet air to go out.
  5. Hi, sorry for this late reply. Hope my answer is still of use to you. Instead of cutting a hole in glass, we cut a hole in the acrylic to slot in the fan. After the hole is cut, they put the fan into the acrylic pane, and then out the acrylic back into the frame. My mosquito net is a magnetic one. It still sticks onto the window frame, cos there's enough allowance for the fan to stick out from the acrylic. The prob is that the wiring from the fan creates an opening as the net can't close over the wire. I didn't realize that earlier. So we have to be careful and make sure we manually close the cover when we turn off the fan or the mozzies will still fly in. On second thoughts, should have just chosen the more ex ones with auto shutters. More convenient, and we don't have to worry about the mozzies flying in if we forget to close the shutter. I'm not v good with embedding pics so if you really need a pic, I'll see what I can do.
  6. No, didn't diy in the end. So don't worry, no lives lost here. Including mine! Actually mine is a ground floor unit and my diy was just to take the glass out to the cutter and then have someone do the rest. Eh, but in the earlier pages, the other forummers did talk about diy (which was where I got the idea) and I think their units were higher than mine? ;p Thank you for being so civic-minded but I don't live in a HDB flat, so I don't need a permit. I don't see why I should spend more for something which I can get for less, but that doesn't mean that I do it at the expense of other ppl's lives. And erm, the permit is just to get permission to carry out works. I don't think it actually stipulates that you have to get qualifed workers to install, does it? Just because you have a permit doesn't mean that your workers are good/qualified and vice versa. Anyway, my regular aircon guy did everything for me in a day. Total damage: 3 KDK 15WPA (6 inches)from Hwa Kwong, Sungei Road: $53.25 each installation for 3 fans, incl of 3 panels of acrylic and cutting: $140 each. Very satisfied with the results, cos I managed to preserve all window frames by installing the acrylic into the existing top-hung frames. The suction is good and like one of the forummers mentioned, the mirror didn't fog at all when I took my bath! And I could actually feel a cool breeze going into the bathroom, even with the doors closed. Aesthetically the results are also quite pleasing cos the frosted acrylic is quite similar to the frosted glass of the other top-hung windows. I chose acrylic cos they are less likely to break after some time from the fans' vibrations. And the best part is that I also get to keep my mosquito screens. I'm glad that I came across this thread and managed to get my fans from Hwa Kwong. Their service is very good, and one of the guys, John, I think was very patient with me, even though we went down twice and took up a lot of his time. Across the street from Hwa Kwong is an acrylic maker/cutter and he quoted me a very good price of $20/pc for 3 pcs of acrylic plus cutting (for panels of about 10 inch by 20 inch). I didn't use him in the end cos my aircon guy went to someone else to do the cutting.
  7. My doors fit the door frames just nice and I was thinking of either leaving the doors ajar when possible or opening the other top hung window.
  8. Bought the fans and thinking of DIY. How do I remove the glass from a top hung window? Was thinking of putting acrylic instead of glass back into the window case. Thanks!
  9. Looks like a job well-done again! I like the doors, they are glass?
  10. Well, the first supplier I called is really a big, fat liar. Managed to get another 2 more companies to quote me for the pvc bifold doors and multi-fold doors. Turns out that only the multi-fold doors need an additional frame. The bifold doors are more expensive than aluminum ones, about $320 without frames. So may be considering aluminum bifolds after all. My parents' pvc bifolds are still working okay after 3 years, just that the doors are really noisy when you close them, and they require quite a bit of strength to open and close. Wow, the rains at your place sounds really relentless! Isn't there a way to seal the rain out? Anyway, your aluminum doors look just as nice as wooden ones.
  11. Hi Edenstrauss and gimz63251073, Thanks for your replies! Yah, their island-wide out of stock excuse is quite lame. And they were quite one kind; can only tell me that they are only open on Sundays! Actually, I was responding to their flyer, so I think suppliers/companies do sell retail. I tried looking in classifieds and online but it's really hard to find pvc bifold doors. Any idea if the pvc bifolds or accordion doors need their own frames, or can be installed on existing frames? I'm looking for those that can be installed on existing frames cos the area for the doors are really small. If add another frame, the area will even be smaller! And I think it looks weird to have two frames. And edenstrauss, your vanity area in the balcony looks good! And Han Fong seems to have done a pretty good job, will be calling them pretty soon if pvc bifolds need additional frames as well. So for installation, do they do hacking? Or they are the type who will just install over the existing frames? And your flat is so big and nice! Envious!
  12. Your aluminum sliding doors for the recessed area looks good!
  13. I want to install 2 bifold doors in my kitchen for the utility room and the toilet. At first, I wanted either pvc bifold or accordion doors because I want something that can be installed on the existing door frame, but I was told by a supplier that: 1) there is no stock for PVC bifold doors island wide 2) only swing doors do not need an additional door frame. Number 1) sounds v dubious. My parents have pvc bifold doors installed during the upgrading, and the door doesn't need any top or bottom track. So I thought this type of doors can be installed on the existing door frames. Can anyone help me out here? Any recommendations for pvc bifold and accordion doors? Thanks in advance!
  14. hi specialkid, I like the bifold door for your mbr toilet. How much is it? Was it provided by your ID, and any idea where i can get it without going through an id? Thanks!
