  1. Hi all..am keen to fix this for my home. Have a question for thise using it. How is the net in terms of alllowing wind and air flow into your house? The net holes look rather small & i am wondering if the house becomes stuffy after installation. Thanks in advance for your comments
  2. I use the Aeron chair and have used it in my past 2 working places Great plus points - cool, material doies not retain heat - comfortable - adjust to your "perfect" position - comfy armrest too -ve - Pricey.especially in SIngapore So Zero complaints!!, if i work from home more i be serious abt investing in one, Only issues i heard is a colleague who said the chair caused them neck aches etc...maybe you can google it "neckache aeron" etc The nearest i got to owning this chair is when my current company closed one of its offices and sold the chair for $200 needless to say all were snapped up by the workers who went mobile (work from home)..all 100 pieces!!! If you come across a company doing new purchase...the new chair can be had for as little as $850 (this was abt 3 years ago) if you join the bulk /corporate purchase..not sure what the min chair order is. I am surprised to hear they will honor the warranty even if purchased from overseas....these chairs are much cheaper in the US!! pls keep us updated on the warranty....sounds promising anyway i feel the chairs are dam durable...i only heard of cases where the castors (wheels) cracking....other than that no issues Aeron is my dream work chair ....no opinions about the embody never tried.....but all the same with my +ve experience with the Aeron...think you can rest assured this company has some great chairs in their DNA They lay claim to the original Eames Lounge chair ;->

  4. My own oven does not have this problem. BUT my mum and sis did suffer this issue Just wondering if you use your oven often, if months have passed and the oven is not used frequently it does tend to short the house. The oven people had to come and change the heating element as humidity had caused an issue i think ovens need to be heated at least x1 once a month to avoid this You could have a completely diff issue...but just sharing my own experience
  5. Yep...if it were up to some folks in the forum, all you be buying is Made in Germany/UK/USA/Italy/ Switzerland or whichever "perceived" better quality countries there are out there Best to put your hand on your pocket and start with questions very centered on budget and usage & certainly NOT Where Its made?!! 1. What's my budget? 2. Best in the class for my budget Simple logic...usually the more expensive the better...well maybe OR maybe not If it shipped from a distant place, a place that pays pretty high wages expect to share the freight costs, labor costs, factory rentals, electricity blah blah blah Many respected companies have moved to setting up their production lines where its cheaper...hey..sounds familiar ..yes Singapore used to be a huge factory for the world too...(hard disk, TVs, aircons, toys etc etc) anyway if you ignore the noise on where its made...you may want to think abt.. Panasonic, Electrolux, Bosch, Volkswagen, Braun, Samsung,....too many to mention have cheaper production bases globally. Yes according to some here, companies spending years of R&D, investment in these cheaper countries are working to screw YOU the end consumer of your precious dollars....you see here companies take steps to reduce costs or diversify their supply chain...their master plan is to run their company to the ground. they have no intention to keep their customers happy, they are happy for a quick buck and close down. If you need reviews on something before buying...try to google its model add the word reviews... Its easy to blame the Made in Asia product when thing go wrong...i wonder (god forbids) who gets the blame when you Made In Germany/Italy/US product breaks down Seriously i know nuts about the Panasonic mentioned...i be very keen to hear what REAL owners/users have to have say and comment My self i own so many house hold products its hilarious. My washer is a Made in Thailand Bosch 7kg Maxx Classic washer, works like a dog x4-5 times a week for the past 2 years, cleans the stains, so simple the maid operates its with No fuss...then that's just me...i don't fret over a washer just bought something i could afford, had some green ticks, pretty well known in the market....going by some of the info here...i won't be surprised if some folks here are starting to build their own machines or send resumes to some of these companies or already have shares there......the persuasive /helpful/ information shared is scary ;-) mine i grabbed it at courts when they had one of their crazy warehouse sales!!.,..what they do sometimes is unwrap a brand new machine, sell it as a display set..huge discount...its sits there for the duration of the sale...people fiddle with it when finally done they send it to me ;-) anyways buy what you like but be careful when taking advice here, if its logical take it especially if you can afford it, Lemons roll off the factory floor in every part of the world....white goods have a definite lifetime mileage.....yes some can last longer and some less long but again What is your budget....do the ones that last longer come with longer warranties or just "Talk" kind of warranty...talk is cheap especially if you find yourself out of warranty and some repairmen comes in a posh overall saying its $100 just to diagnose the problem...and some of the spare parts need x weeks to be flown in oh well...maybe you can call the companies and find out cost of repair beyond warranty.. PS, the cars being recalled for Toyota aren't the Made in Thailand ones...well not yet, the recalls were assembled in US/ Europe by our dear faultless production line Ang Mo's!!.. and PS again, Volvo is a Swedish brand...superb at what they do/did, so good that they got bought up by Ford years ago...and when the economic crisis hit...Ford had to resell/dump them to a Chinese company called Geeely , Ford has also had to purge Saab,Aston Martin Land Rover.... It ain't personal is business....American GM has been struggling to sell Opel (many cars Made iN germany and europe)....maybe if Opel shuts its door they should send the 25,000 workers to the washing machine factories so the world can be filled with washers made in Germany Hmmm......wonder if all washers made in Germany...what other elitist measure(s) can some of the forumers measure their "great" products on. Happy choosing
  6. really informative discussion .... $4 grand for a Miele not expensive absolutely agreed....Its really peanuts compared to the spanking new Audi R8 i got.... http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/new cars_overview.php?CarCode=10489 The one i bought for my Filipino maid...do you blame me???...all her moaning about the C63 AMG and build quality was driving me freaking nuts!! http://www.sgcarmart.com/new_cars/newcars_...mp;Subcode=1155 Where can i buy this German wonder washing machine...do they have it in black??? Can i get it LV monogramed??
  7. Considered getting a bosch? me got the Home professional 10 year warranty on the motor...carpet turbo cleaner hepa filter etc etc Bought at Courts for abt $550 but recently saw Paris Silk selling for below $500 good deal.... 10 years divided by $500 ish..$50 a year!! not too shabby!!! and BTW the agent in Singapore recognizes the 10 year warranty!! sweet....in Singapore, we have several brands that have warranties that do not macth the markets in Europe, US, Japan...and of course we have our very own CASE...who whilst helpful cannot ENFORCE anything with retailers... Here is a link http://www.boschappliances.com.au/content....category_id=244 I love it, its quiet, feel solid, nice finish I was considering the Dyson....design technology wise superb, the courts guys demo'ed it too really good build...the no loss of suction power was really attractive....what i remember vacuums with bags tend to lose power when bags get full...the dyson has no loss of power...i think the 10 year warranty and the sleek finish of the Bosch won me over...of course its power was superb, you can control the power which works great for me (cud not on the dyson) ...i have some nice handmade rugs at home...need a lower power vacuum to clean up....then i have a car that needs strong vacuum power....so it worked out!! I believe the bosh is made in germany....but that wasn't a selling point for me honestly. Germany,Malaysia, japan or China...all have their fair share of lemons or poor products.... me i buy on the basis of technology, price, & aesthetics when a company decides to move production to a lower cost base, its a huge huge investment....often its the lab , land & tax component that companies shave off in running costs over several years ...the equipment know how mgt tests are carefully calibrated by brand owners to ensure quality is maintained look at Toyota...they moved production outside of Japan(thailand, mexico, US China), they are still tops in the world ..volkswagen close behind but volks did it thru their many brands!! my company a US MNC, went one step further by outsourcing our mgf lines!!! guess what we are still number #1 in the world...we vendor manage r suppliers/vendors with an iron fist & possible qlty check/test, glad to say we are much richer for this!! i stay employed. we see the one or two faulty products every now and then...but we make it up to our customers & make sure the factory floor it rolled out from is warned!! anyways got a bit distracted...what about the Bosh
  8. Guys, just anted to share, my experience with powerline Superb!! I bought the Linksys http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/PLK300 but there are so many in the market to choose from TP Link, Aztech etc If you need LAN points installed do not mind the casing , (if you want to hack walls to concela...HDB cannot, if you live in a condo can...but expensive!!) of course LAN is the best n/work you can get BUT if you want to keep costs down & like a neat POWERLINE!! I went with the Linksys despite the extra costs because 1. Promo in last PC show 85mbps @ $99 (usual $169)...also sicne Linksys did not bring their 200Mbps model to Singapore ...no choice ;-) 2. Aztech was 200mbps @ $55 but i only saw this ;last day of the fair...they didn't really advertise...timing 3. Linksys had the one powerline adapter with 4 ports, allowed me to connect 4 diff equipt in my isolated room..really plug & play!! ..you need to connect the Aztech to soem sort of switch to expand the connectivity in the isolated room My experience with powerline - Avg speeds connecting to network -> 60-70 Mbps!..faster than my current wireless (54mbps) - impact on electrical equipment - NIL so far.(or i cannot notice)...i used the vacuum, kitchen appliance, [plugged in laptops, LCD TV etc...bandwidth is ok!! Hints 1. Plug into the same circuit whenever possible I have a circuit diagram of how the wall plugs in my home were connected. I kept the powerline within the same circuit works GREAT!!..i know this one can be hard for some to get their hands on...maybe you can try trial & error....just try plugging it into sockets & test speed 2. Secured network possible -just read & install the installer, most solutions if not all have security!! 3. Read reviews & cus experience to see if this solution fits your home...here are some http://reviews.cnet.com/bridges/linksys-po...also#cnetReview http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=643 http://www.ocworkbench.com/2007/aztech/hom...-Adaptor/g1.htm
