  1. Just finished renovation with Hwa Li design. They are price wise quite reasonable and finish the work in time. http://hwalidesign.com/ I havent got any furniture, yet, but the kitchen is already in. have a look ..I know, my hob has only two flames.
  2. Now I know why all walls in the flat I bought look smooth while the ceiling looks rough. The renovation guide shows where have to apply and where not. Since the ceiling is not mentioned in the main part I think everyone just assumes: no need to apply permit because its nothing much.
  3. I read in the HDB renovation guide that plastering of ceilings is not allowed. On the other hand I have seen falts where the previosly lousy looking ceiling has been plastred. Does anyone know whats going on here? Here: OpenDocument it sais: Examples of Renovation Works Not Allowed: Plastering of ceilings.
  4. go to imageshack.us and upload the pics there, then post the link. Here they have a lot of money to get the Invision Power Board software, but then not enough money to get enough server space so that pics can be uploaded.
  5. Every time you open it and many chutes start leaking after only a few years.
  6. Drinking alcohol ruins your brain and general health. Dont do it and dont advertise alcohol.
  7. Great idea, and when the chute leaks bad smells it goes all through your clothes.
  8. Sure you can disguise the chute or you can get a nicer looking chute. If you build the sink around it, how much do you want to struggle every day to throw away your rubbish? Dont obstruct the chute too much or it is difficult to throw away things.
  9. It looks quite nice. Guess HDB has approved that design because the shower is separated by a glass screen from the rest. I dont like the glass around the shower so much because it makes it more difficult to clean the whole floor. Besides, sometimes I need a chair underneath the shower. Well, but it looks good. For the tiles: I have selected the same colour scheme for me, but smaller tiles. I dont know, big tiles look elegant, but dont they make the room look smaller? For the tiny bathrooms I have selected 20*20cm tiles, for the Kitchen 30*30cm and for the living room and the rest 60*60cm tiles. Same tiles in the hall and the bedrooms.
  10. Yes, the hole is a little bit more than 1 foot from the wall. A friend, as I wrote had the toilet much further away from where it is now and it seems HDB allowed to make the changes as long as the flat below was not affected.
  11. Someone here has put the sink outside in a separate part. If you intend to live without tenants then it might be OK to hack the wall inbetween the two bathrooms. If you want to get a tenant for some extra money, then better dont hack. I will try to apply to shift the toilet a bit. My latest thought to turn the back of the toilet towards the widow gives a bit space to put a sink beside. Still, in general I find most of the older bathrooms too small to carry out proper hygiene. HDB said: but bathroom is not soooo important. Well, latest studies prove HDB comments wrong.
  12. People from the HDB hub here just told me: "dont know, cant say" Its HQ decision ... a frind of mine shifted it quite a bit and HDB allegedly approved it.....I dont know what to do or believe now. Sure the whole pipe cannot be relocated because the nighbour below would be affected...maybe it could be extended a bit
  13. A friend just told me that she moved the toilet bowl from underneath the window to the opposite side, away from the window. HDB allegedly approved that.
  14. Its a jumping spider. You can find them in a few sizes and many different colours here in Singapore. Even yellow ones with blue stripes. The biggest ones I have seen are about 1 cm long.
