  1. The "yellowing" of white grouting filling between wall tiles are quite common as what I've gathered from my peers who've just renovated as well. I asked Henry and the tiler, they said it's most probably due to the filling absorbing the cement (original wall) behind the tiles. This even happens after cement screeding.
  2. Fencer, bro. Did you specify to them the exact location of the wash basin prior to installation? It could have been due to the original location of the flush pipe at the bottom that restricted the positioning. I think if the intended position is further to the left, it would have required some adjustments on the piping. That's a whole different story altogether.
  3. Yo bro, ask you ah. Did Henry do a glass backing for you? Looks like white-colored glass from here
  4. Bro, from what I've heard is that chemical wash is to clean up blower units that have not been maintained consistently over a long period of time. From what I heard from my air-cond man is that chemical washing shouldn't be done too often as well. As for water collection at the blower tray, I believe it's due to the blower placement that doesn't align it properly to drain it out. Good luck!
  5. Bro, I wouldn't say I fully understand your situation here. But I think I'd have done the same thing on the cleaning part. What I'd suggest here is to make a list of things still outstanding that you feel you want Henry to patch up/rectify/clean etc, then pass it to Henry for follow-up. Work out with Henry on when he could complete those tasks. On another note, I'm really glad that at the very least Henry's willing to entertain post-reno requests. There are simply too many contractors and even IDs out there that go MIA once the last payment has been made. Good luck, bro!
  6. I believe it's not present in every model. You'll have to verify that over with the model specs to make sure
  7. Hi MayLove, haha I'd definitely say it's not pian1 xin1 for that matter. If you compare around the various t-blogs here where they've engaged reno contractors, you'd realize that there are always a certain level of engagement you'd still have to put in and what I'd term as proactive participation on the owners' part. The way I see it, it's my house that I'm renovating. I'd really want to know what's going on myself, see the progress myself and help out wherever I can whenever I can just so that things could speed up a little or hopefully go much smoother. I have yet to see or hear renovations that have went without any hiccups at all. To me, it's really just about give-and-take. It's reassuring as well to know that Henry's the type that would be steady so long as you steady with him. Personally, I do feel that he doesn't nit-pick on the details Bro, I understand how you feel. But the way I see it, it wouldn't hurt to help to "push" things a little. I'm doing it this way. I came up with a list of renovation items in sequence i.e. hacking > wet works/tiling > electrical > plumbing... and sat down with Henry at his office to go through the list. I sort of understood that a specific timeline would be hard to provide in this case, but at least it gave me weekly approximations as to how the renovation will progress throughout. Just like what Simon has said and often reiterated, I do agree that Henry's always been open to discussion on anything that you're concerned of or unhappy about. I got off the phone with Henry earlier in the morning. I think it's best to just sit down and discuss things over calmly. Cheers!
  8. Haha...exactly what I had in mind. Thanks a bunch, Reiki!

  10. Hi noobhouse, The burner levers require an initial push-in and then twist while still pushing 'till you hear a click before you release. As for the SV, basically it cuts off gas after the burner detects no-flame for a few seconds if I'm not mistaken.
  11. Since the units are new, it should still be under warranty for installation right? Probably should get the vendor to fix it, dude.
  12. I've got a favour to ask from the folks here. Has anyone got any photos to show of legrand Mallia light switches that were installed with the external box and not concealed in the wall (face-plate shown only)? Just want to a picture in mind of how it looks like. Thanks!
  13. Haha. Actually I think that's pretty common with renovation contractors. But I kinda learnt from what Simon has gone through on his t-blog. Working with reno contractors require us to be on-the-ball abit and keep track of things. I usually email then sms and followed by a call before a certain appointment with Henry to remind him so that he could plan his time better that way. Though it does take a bit of co-ordination from our end I'll have to talk to Henry and Ah Liang more on planning better trunking/casing hehe. Thanks, bro! Good luck!
  14. Hahaha...not "pian xin" lah. I think it's because I don't meet Henry that often mah. Wah piang...today really rush through the whole lighting/switches plan with Henry and Ah Liang until I can't remember at one point what I was talking about. I'll need to remind Henry and Ah Liang again to help conceal/hide/camouflage as much as possible wherever possible I heard Ah Liang's pretty skilled ah? Good chap to work with, bro?
  15. Ha...Henry went straight to my place after yours, bro. Henry brought Ah Liang in today to go over electrical plans. Heard from Henry your place gonna HO soon woh! Cheers!
  16. Haha..agree with you on this one, bro. Gotta give and take. Gotta help him help you along the way so that things would go smoothly. I'm still at tiling stage. Next week meet electrician liao!
  17. Hey fencer, may I know which area you're at?
  18. Hey dude, did you get yours from GC? Just wondering how you got them to change insulation the 2nd time around. Did they charge extra or tell you they can't do that blah blah blah? Thanks!
