  1. hey yuene, good to finally see your re-opened blog! and like ossify said, congrats on not choosing B! you must have really heaved a huge sigh of relief. anyway, interested to see your plans for your place. where is it anyway, and how big is it?
  2. ya i've contacted them about a table i saw on their website...nice but price even nicer. out of budget!! so i'm still looking out for options..
  3. for lights, you should try A Lighting Enterprise @ Geylang. How many people are u speaking to? any leanings towards any of them yet?
  4. wow, that's just next friday! so when is reno starting? have u decided on your contractor/ID yet?
  5. hey zelly, all three are pretty reasonably priced. in terms of workmanship, i cannot vouch for any of them as i have not used them. however, alex was recommended on these forums (need to dig up the threads) and ah lee was recommended by someone on myhometown. as for aaron, i happened to chance across his ad on an online classifieds. mild steel itself isn't rust proof. i believe the maker will have to apply some sort of protective sealant to prevent it from rusting. i think we're pretty limited in terms of supply in singapore. when you think of window grilles, you only have aluminium or wrought iron. even mild steel seems to be pretty hard to come by. btw, if u wanna see an example of mild steel gate, can have a look at Ripple's blog. he used it for his main gate. hope this helps! hi pcomaster, thanks for your kind words..my reno still got some way to go though. stick around on RT, start a blog or read others and you will become more familiar with the process. if u need any help, feel free to ask around. there are many 3-roomers around here who will be happy to help. Will PM you what you asked for, but not my electrician cos he's too busy to take on new projects till sept.
  6. hey zelly, from wikianswers: these are some of the guys i contacted for grilles, they all do custom grilles: - Alex Ong 9100 8767 - Aaron 8399 3791 - Ah Lee 9457 0677
  7. The new entrance to bath completed Extended waterproofing for the bathroom walls. Floors also were waterproofed a second time. Drainage dug out on the floor leading the sink to the existing floor trap. Where the WC will be. Ventilation fan not up yet. The walls were newly screeded just yesterday. So smooth like plaster!
  8. Reno Day 50 Happy to see progress - things are moving along! Sealing up of original common room entrance completed View of kitchen from hall - notice the new pantry wall is up Pantry wall up, along with base for pantry cabinet. Slightly longer than we wanted but still okay. Fridge base up. Notice the "canal" to the floor drainage cannot be seen in this pic. It's actually hidden where the yellow pail is. Cannot be seen on first glance - I like!
  9. hard to describe the design on the phone so i emailed them but so far no responses. thanks anyway... yep, we had to do a fridge base cos the fridge is positioned above the existing floortrap. thanks for the tip, we've planned for the power point to be at the side of the fridge like you said.
  10. ya if you read my blog, you'll know that i had to fight hdb for a month to have my permit approved. but that could be because i'm putting a tub in my bathroom. as far as i know, permit does not cover pipes. hdb doesn't expect their lessees to modify them, i suppose. i think you better check with your contractor to be sure. the hdb technical officer told me that hdb conducts random site checks after renovation is completed to ensure everything is done according to their guidelines. so i think its best to check with your contractor..
  11. your living room is so lonnnnggg!! wah sounds like your permit approval didn't take too long.. i also wanted to reroute my pipes like what Goobii did. however, my hdb technical officer says it is illegal. i even spoke to the plumber who did Goobii's pipes, he sounded so unwilling to do it for me, told me he merely followed Goobii's contractor's instructions so I should speak to Goobii's contractor instead. It was a massive headache trying to get those pipes out of the way. So your contractor will be doing it for you?
  12. hey pinktini, yes there is a way to increase the water pressure. read fftw's blog. she mentioned something about it.
  13. hey pinktini, nice to see that everything is almost up! happy for you! your house has a very girly feel with the flowers and pink tones here & there...plus that toto tap is too cute! must have been $$ eh? love the floors and the ample storage space. i see so much potential in the hall - gosh its huge! when's the moving in date?
  14. yea bumps as in like those. ok understooded. thanks for posting the pic! the "after" pics look good!
  15. hehehe...thanks guys..appreciate your responses! $250 for the gate is very cheap! btw, i'm assuming your wrought iron got those bumps...right?
  16. hey db, thanks for the info..since you didn't plaster, then i think no need sealant.. this maxlite cheapo paint, i think it's common for painters to use this as their first coat right?
  17. Main Door Fell in love with this one: But the price is madness at $1.2k. Anyone seen this similar design at a cheaper price? Please share....
  18. hey magyarposta, Jaskel's a member of this forum. you can try PM him, see if he's available. he seems pretty busy lately...
  19. welcome to RT! looks like there has been an increase of sengkang-ers in RT recently. enjoy your reno process and good luck!
  20. ya i know, right. sigh........ still dreaming of those scissors grilles. i also never heard of such a alu-wrought iron hybrid till she mentioned it. will take pic of it when i get the sample.
  21. are those wrought iron grilles & gate? don't look that bad! your door - did u replace the old one or did you just paint over? is that black? are your window frames black or bronze? clear glass or tinted? how much did you pay for windows, grilles, gate and door? sorry so many questions!
  22. wow..10-15 seater dining table...like conference table leh! so where are you intending to get this table from? sounds like its gonna cost a bomb..
  23. was quoted $16psf for mild steel window grilles, which is out of our budget. PM said she has a aluminium-wrought iron hybrid which can be used for the gate & grilles, and most importantly, does not have the "bumpiness" of normal wrought iron. Shall wait to see it, hopefully it looks like mild steel. Thailand ah? i doubt grilles will be on my mind when i'm there lol. but thanks for the tip anyway..just for reference, for anyone who's thinking of doing scissors grilles - the cost ranges from $450-$650 per set. i surely will! Some updates. Visited the flat yesterday, pleased to see that the following works have been completed: - Sealing up of original common room entrance - Kitchen cabinet, pantry cabinet & fridge bases all up - New pantry wall up - Second coat of waterproofing for bathroom Worked out this week's schedule with our PM: - Additional waterproofing to be done today - Tiling & building of bathtub to be done Tue-Thu - Hall & common room windows to be replaced Fri - Plastering to be done Fri-Sat - Aircon trunking & Citygas pipes to be run Mon
