  1. . yea.. am back, finally. i guess everyone got busy once the reno is finally over. but have faith, our cohort will come back soon. i did, didnt i? ha well, i went off for my wedding day preparation and thereafter spent time getting a few more items for the house (yes, we finally bought the ss steel bench, ha). lots of house warming sessions ensued during the cny period, got even more things for the house, then a big move in my career and finally, took a short break to hk in feb and did something i always wanted to do since young. i see. yea, i first come to know these pictures when i was at Cathay too. so i know who painted it. tks!
  2. hey there.. we share similar theme for our house so was reading up yr tblog. glad to know that yr reno was completed without major hiccups (except for the dish drainer issue)! yea, agree totally! blum system is indeed a joy to have eh. I love to close the drawers now! ha same case here.. we had wanted to look at a king size bed but after measuring and consultation with ID, we decided not to for fear too lil walkspace after putting in a king. notice you have white grouting in between yr tiles.. jus to share, maintaining it white is really tough. e.g your mopping water slightly dirty, yr white grouting may ganna liao. well, that's exactly what happened to my living room. sama sama too! we intend to have an entertainment room but the room seems small to have everything so yea really gotta keep it minimalist. saw yr dyson fan! how issit doing for you? i'm torn between a dyson tower fan and the much talk about Vornado BEST INVESTMENT i say. is really nice to have that in the room. functional, practical and still doesnt lose out in asthetic! lovely!
  3. piqued my interest when i saw it's an EA and boy is the owner none other than the almighty highly regarded in RT, Jaskel the man!! hahaha.. the tile finishes are amazing and really insightful to read. cant' wait to see the finishing. the LED lightings? like a scene from TRON! feel a bit too bright for the eyes but hey is LED eh? guess photographs ain't really doing it justice. will be stalking tis blog ya.. ha
  4. true.. i think some of the tblogs also disappeared. BJ? no complains so far. I LOVE LOVE THE CHAR SIEW ROASTED DUCK rice nearby though. d a r n good!!!! yea, glad we got it cheaper in the end your quote has no link to your question lei. ha funny.. you should be able to see it in my links, isnt it? is from floorrich
  5. yea, back finally after an eventful quarter start to 2011! so glad to still see familar 'faces'! we were already quite keen on it but the price put us off. but the "poisoning" here proved too much for us to bear, so we went ahead. the relief was that we got it at 30% off at the cny sale! paid for it straight away but it was another crazy 6 weeks for it to arrive from down under 6.5ft x 3ft dining table w laminate - $1620 5ft x 3ft kitchen island with laminate and acelite solid top - $1800 elkay wash basin bought seperately - $340 hope it helps
  6. there was some delay with the chandelier alright, but still i doubt is the culprit the last suspect, our mbr wallpaper? wait, no one, nothing is to be blamed. I blame myself alright. is procrastination. I'm back
  7. or the dream coffee table we actually missed out on Lush Lush website? and bought it in the end after waiting for it to arrive our shore? or perhaps the love at first sight collapsible majong table that we finally found? no no no, it had to be ikea's fault. cause we took so long to decide the configuration and but in the end, it was almost the same design in the showroom! this definitely not to be blamed. i told my wife the jump wouldnt take too long? it was barely less than 10 seconds of fall!
  8. this absence, this long long hiatus.. there must always be something to blame right? we can't blame the wedding dinner can we housework? really, can be quite a killer cleaning this white house perhaps the panasonic plasma tv we waited and waited before deciding to buy? no wait, the whole forum all agreed in unison that i must get this, isnt it?
  9. is been awhile huh.. it seems almost hard to forgive to go MIA for so long, not helping out with fellow forum mates with their reno ideas and just show up after so long just to look at finish product. GUILTY AS CHARGED! really, my humble apologies. but gotta admit! the transformation is really nice! to be featured in the paper is really a statement itself, isnt it. i remember your previous unit is as nice. so was pretty sure the standard would be there and indeed! hope u guys are enjoying every minute in the house ya
  10. hey hey.... took awhile to catch up with all the postings. finally, after all the hiccups and delays.. is really nice to see the final product! must be an awesome feeling huh!
  11. A framed-up postcard from the Wun Ying Gallery (I have a big poster version of this that I lugged all the way from HK--I'll get around to having it framed someday...) hey hey hey... I'M BACK! is such a joy to see everyone's transformation and yrs is no exception too! i see choices of bold colors in the house eh the postcard is nice! sort of similar art to your profile pic once. are they from the same artist?
  12. hey....... *sweeping off gravel and soil off his body* i gave up searching for my legendary instrument in yr house and decided to own up! ok, fine. it doesn't exist! hahaha... hope everything's a BIG ok for you and your family ya! the decals really caught my eye! really personalised the area. haha.. i must consider that cause seemingly my house is really lacking of pictures.
  13. DAY: I KNOW WHAT IS COSTOCHONDRITIS in simple english, is known as inflammation of the ribcage and she got it. NOT, before hearing from 2 GPs, jabs, painkillers, 2 trips to A&E, more jabs, more painkillers, admitted for a week, more serious painkillers, gastroscope and CT scan. so to and fro i was at the hospital. NOT, before juggling in between my day job, site visits, wall paper installation and deliveries to new house, cleaning the new house, cakes collection and tailoring my vest. still, surviving from the spasms and jolts of pain, she and I did it NOT, before rushing out to the remaining "guo da li" items, "hui li" items, preparing the items and doing the actual "guo da li" so yes, there you go, my-why-mia. is forgiving, really. house matter wise... is all about showcasing to the elders for now, cleaning and more cleaning! meanwhile, look forward to my wallpaper in mbr and my completed kitchen with electricals. 15 more days to the big day!
  14. haha.. even i myself didn't spot my head on the other side. yes Gerbil sticker will go soon, I promise. ha hmm.. after surveying 3 places and some other units, i finally come to understand my id's meaning of industry standard white. which to me and my wife is not white white per se, is bluish white. he's technically not wrong you see, just that we can't get past ourselves. see for yourself; THIS IS BLUE. THIS IS WHITE. so tell me how can the above be white at all? decided to play the waiting game. really hope to see lush lush having another 30% sale. my last visit? realised they have a 1.8m long ss bench. even more tempted to get that, but is bridging near to 1k for that length! yes, i think i jus made the point. 2 weeks MIA from RT to be exact. HA! the past 2 weeks had been madly busy! story coming up next thank you, thank you all for your kind words! we are glad it turned out the way we want it
  15. TO DATE: 30 DAYS TO BIG DAY i was commenting to wife that now the house reno is mostly accompllished, i'm relinquishing my PM (Proj Manager) role (she's the consultant btw, she calls the shot) and switching over to ADOO (Actual Day Operations Officer) side. but as soon as i went over with the new title, think her new posting went up to COO (Chief Operations Officer). in short, she calls the shot still, bloody h e l l. and yes, 30 more days to our showdown at intercontinental! ha the hiatus in RT, the lesser posting on those blogs i stalk, i hope all is forgiving ya - food tasting, parents meet-up, wedding invites, gown testing, brothers & sisters attire, wine selection, guo da li shopping and the list doesnt stop here. not to mention day job and the mt everesting of paperworks and sales reports.... i think i forgotten to head to the loo sometimes COMMON BATH NOTABLE item 1: my finally-is-white bifold door (some dramas involved here cause previously was a "standard" white which was not agreeable with us), NOTABLE item 2: hansgrohe mixer and shower, NOTABLE item 3: customised 1 fixed, 1 sliding frosted shower panel to create a bigger walk-in passage and also to hide you'll-get-to-know-later NOTABLE item 4: feature wall tiles which turns up very well laying vertically NOT ABLE (get it? notable, now not able) to see anymore: our water heater behind the fixed shower panel i.e forever out of sight when ppl enter the common bath WIW SLIDING GLASS NOTABLE: the WIW glass is finally up. Quite a bloober here cause ID tot we didn't want it initially and we were waiting and waiting for ages why it wasn't up still. however, not quite the track system we want. wish it was more concealed. tsk tsk MBR BATH NOTABLE: full length glass features and customised cabinet with build-in sink NOT ABLE: my hands that stuck out in the reflection. sorry, tried to get picture perfect liao. unless i can suspend the cam in mid-air! ha NOTABLE: pipes all concealed in this bathroom with boxed-up. featuring raindance, travetino mosaics and 1 fixed shower panel (no doors) coming friday ID is bringing all his gangs of sub-cons for my prolonged heart pangs at those rectifications that need to be done, next tuesday wall paper air freight in from Japan to be installed at mbr hopefully bed frame and bed arrive in time before 23rd for simple "an chuang" and PRESTO! the house is officially officially completed
  16. thank you. yes, nice location indeed -bukit panjang plaza opp, mrt below me, interchange beside me.. what else can i ask for right? now, someone give me the god d a m n cinema can or not! irritating why capitalmall always do without a cinema. think IMM. haha stress is an understatement man.. is SI BEI stress! haha thank you, thank you. haha... i know decor magazines, but decor magazines don't know me one la.. published liao got ikea or capitalmall vouchers to take? haha if have, i skin thick thick go look for them to publish. hahaha our yuene is a looker eh! now, tidy up those hair k yes, you will be happy to know that we will be placing our order for the ss bench soon. but takes 2 mths for the bench to reach our shore. hope in time for xmas! yes, the hole is gd enuff for a 46 inches. erm.. WAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA bard? haha.. had to google to know what it means. i have a few gd ones really. like how i always twisted this good o innocent one; i have a pen, my pen is slightly bent, i have a best friend, my best friend is my right hand wahahaha a home soon indeed. few moments now and then when i'm in the house, i went "isnt' this hacked and in rumbles weeks ago". take a look at it now i tell myself
  17. hi, fellow EAer. welcome to RT forum and yes, i agree that this platform has tonnes of archive of information to better prepare you for your reno journey. i would say reno is a painful and laborious process yet the fulfilling and most satisfying one. cause at the end of the journey, is your brand new home, built to your prefection enjoy ur stay here and may you have a smooth renovation ahead ya!
  18. yes yes, bigger sized samples does make a difference. we learnt that the hard way although end results aint that bad afterall. but yea, seeing bigger version really helps you getting from aron too! panasonic as well? yea, they're gd and nice folks. sam would insist on how some of the trunkings will go cause he always stress that the water must travel nicely down if u prefer, you may tell aron that you wanna the installation to be done in 2 trips. to lay trunking first then the blower the next. that way, painting wont go over to the blower ya hmm.. jus realised i dont have an aircon story to my blog. man, tat's really not doing justice to aron. hai... writing here, i jus reminded myself that the compilation of my reno's dos and donts is still halfway through. tot the compliation would really remind myself of the next reno and also a gd guide for peeps in RT - my way of showing my gratitude after learning and picking up so much from RT.
  19. no la... time of the day dude. time to catch your dinner! haha and me... just gonna drink my shake and granola bars. aggghh... WEDDING! *pulls hair*
  20. yes yes.. all tks to yr lobang. chairs are frm GH. sitting on it while i type now. haha tks! really! cool cool.. looking forward to yr pics then a.k.a will be stalking your blog henceforth now. haha tks tks for the kind words. gatecrash? hahaha.. i think my wife will freak out first! yea, had it changed to match the white on the door. unfortunately, id said the hinges cant be changed to silver cause the current ones are thicker and the silver ones are thinner i.e if we change, the small door portion and main door would have a gap which is unsightly. thank you thank you! like to post pics of my toilets but am still awaiting for final touches in the common bath before posting pictures. hee the few more items that came in since my last post is just the mbr chandelier and our much awaited sofa. we're still hunting for our coffee table at the moment. and still hesitating if we should buy the expensive stainless steel bench. haiz yea, kitchen and dining have been our biggest pride till date next to the carpentry in living room. btw, soft closing from blum really adds a touch of class to the works so I really encourage ppl to go for it. in fact, i think reno these days throw in soft closings as part of the standard carpentry works right. ceiling fan is from a brand alpha. how big can't remember liao. cause seeing the staninless steel feel on the fan already quite certain that we're gonna to buy it. haha next up would be my wiw (which we had finally decided to go for Ikea set-up after much heavy discussion and visits) and mbr i suppose . games room and so call the study room gotta wait cause we wanna our watch our numbers carefully as the big day draws nearer. 37 days to go before the big day! *stress man* tks man! your profile pic is also CHIO lei! is that a taiwanese actress or is that you? haha yea, we are very glad that the kitchen light came out fine too. phew
  21. all up already huh?! each time i caught up with your blog, your reno sure infront of me by leaps and bounds! like how the living room turns out to be without seeing too much of the slant and angled.. think the full length cabinet works very well in nursing that slant right? did we get the same common bath sink? ha gee, goes to show how much more furnishings that i still need to buy but man, we are forever slow in the selection process. haizzz...
  22. am using 3 x 6 wall tiles on wall in both my common and mbr walls common bath even went vertically instead of the normal horizontal laying as far as the visuals allow, did not spot any over-the-board unevenness tat are so bat requires rectifications. perhaps, the consolation is that at some areas you would have sink, mirrors, cabinets etc to cover up? think replied in banned's tblog. laying more ex because is 3x6? no lei.. my id never mentioned anything i can understand what you mean man.. i sensed my id getting irked sometimes but i always tell him, "i know is a painful process to do my place but pse understand is a 45k investment down" but i think he feels better each time after taking a look at the island.
  23. must b a big kitchen to boast a 6 x 6! hey.... can sense you two are also kitchen kitchen ppl huh. wife and i shop for so long back then and realised all shopping for kitchen area. haha already carpentry works?! apart from lighting speed from jasket, think you got yrself the best neighbors ard man.. hahaha
  24. hey, congrats on yr key collection ya! and yes, i always wonder how the heck those ppl get their job in the first place as architect/id at hdb. their colors are so off sometimes! have you seen some of the old hdb block being repainted on the exterior? is horrenduous and downright ugly. wonder if that is their intention to make a distinction between hdb and private
  25. so sorry for the late reply.. tile 300 x 600 or 300 x 300, my id never mentioned bout being more expensive lei and actually, 300 x 600 quite the norm. so nt sure why diff workmanship pricing. but after finishing my reno, i come to terms that sometimes what they say, true or not, you will never know if you not in the trade. is like a bit "lan lan suck thumb" that sort of feeling. and your seller......................... have they ever wash their toilet or not?! that was really scary! haha
