hey from my research and experience (hope it's still updated as my own wedding was just some 7 months back ): Amara: heard quite a lot of bad feedback leh, and i personally feel the shopping centre downstairs looks very run down... ever consider M Hotel? also near Tanjong Pagar MRT. Merchant Court: pretty hotel, lovely ballroom, great service (colleague just got married there 3 mths back) but on the more ex side. Novotel: overall quite okie, and more friendly on your pocket GCW: been there many times and their food have always been very good but think it's the most ex out of the 4 and personally feel the inconvenient location really doesn't justify the high price... one plus point is the bride can arrive to the hotel by a boat at the river behind... quite cute hahaha hahaha i think wedding prep is SO MUCH easier compared reno........ at least seating arrangement etc is a one day or the most one week headache, and wedding is just an one day event... but reno, if you do anything wrongly, you gotta face it for a long time

envious envious... your rooms are so big~ my MBR is 3.3 x 3.7 only, and common room is 2.8 x 3.3.... that's why i said your utility room is similar to a common room (well, my common room, that is). my bro's bedroom at my parents' place, only a pathetic 6 ft x 4.5 ft and there was no windows.... (okie, that's not in Singapore, so cannot compare ) hmmmm no mah, extra panels allow the open area to be bigger, why blockage of view?
-
yea use your 42" until it spoils... anyway nowadays... TVs are not very lasting one, spoils pretty fast...
-
hahahaha okie okie got it.... hmmmm like that ah then i call Henry later... ask him to give u some free gift but add the cost somewhere else... hahahahaha okie la just joking only... don't get angry okie hmmmm no offence, and i'm not really in the position to comment... just saying out of concern after seeing what happened to my little nephew.... my little nephew was the only child until around 4 yrs old. he was the little prince in the family and everybody dotes on him... slowly he has grown to have super bad manner and rude... now he is 6 yrs old liao, no matter how hard his parents and grandparents try to teach him, already can't turn back... sigh. and he doesn't even have luxury items like computer games or iPad etc~ so, cannot spoil kid when he's so young leh... when he grows older and you really want to teach him, already hard to change his manner.... hope yours won't be my little nephew~

oh, oh..... maybe you can try to sell the oven on RT and use the money to buy the 3-in-1 same here.... mine also got nothing... previous occupants didn't even have a single bed! all slept on mattresses! my colleague just got his new home, the entire kitchen no need to reno, and comes with all hob, hood, built-in oven etc! all in good conditions.... envious siah~
-
yea good choice... i'm still shocked in disbelief that tv price drops so much in just a mere 7 months!
-
hmmm i guess the issue here is that the room is too big as a storeroom but too small to be of other better use~ i remembered one of the side is ~2880mm (if my memory is not failing)~ this is almost like a common room size liao... haha
-
hmmmm how come got dent in the wall one?? i dunno but my guess is, if the dent is not too deep, they can always put cement to level the wall but no need to put tiles over the cement.... hmmm everyone here please correct me if my guess is wrong~

if you only baked 2 or 3 times per year, how about considering those 3-in-1 microwave oven? (microwave + steam + convection oven) it saves you space and also $$ cos you won't spend on a microwave and an oven separately~
-
hahaha but friends78 doesn't use the kitchen leh if really really want, ask Henry whether he has other brands that is not Blum lor.... that he can give free or at cheaper price~ it's crazy la! TV price drops so fast!
-
wah didn't see your post while i was writing mine yea frameless one is top track only, so your concern about water coming in is very valid cos the sliding glass door will have "lobang" at the bottom. my frameless glass door is indoor one, even then i also feel a bit scared when i push the doors cos it feels kinda fragile if you get to visit my place... you can try to push my sliding door and get a "feel" of it i also feel your utility room is very huge... is like 2x the size of my storeroom~
-
i have a frameless sliding glass door in my home... but it's inside, not like those at the balcony... my feeling is that if the balcony is very windy, the frameless type may not be so steady~

i think your father more modern than you two lor... hahaha possible to rebuild a storeroom somewhere else in your kitchen? or, get your father to convince your wife........
-
hahaha yea i read about the JE Toh Guan thingy too.... in some forum... that's the same place where i read about the plan being on hold too~ anyway, this is from the "horse mouth" but 3 yrs ago liao... dunno if there will be any changes soon~ http://app.lta.gov.sg/forum_replies_content.asp?start=51 if sensitive info... then i dunno liao~
-
hmmm if i remember correctly, the Jurong Lake Story exhibition didn't mention LRT (i went there twice )~ anyway, since you missed it, you can still recap it here http://heartland.hdb.gov.sg/JurongIntro.html the e-exhibition is same as the actual one they put up that time. btw, i kpo... googled about it and that's what i found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jurong_Region_Line apparently one section of the original plan is re-proposed recently, to be built as a private line serving NTU.
-
hahaha~ but not many familiar "faces" left here liao how you find your new area? i still miss Bt Pj sometimes... hee well if you got it during your reno, maybe don't have the 30% discount liao... hee
-
if you cook often, i think glass backsplash will be good but i didn't do last time cos no $$ liao... but sorry can't advise you on the price cos i didn't do~
-
there is also a neighbourhood furniture shop at Jurong West St 42 that has trade-in offer. but i dunno what are the brands they are selling....
-
hahahahaha i guess bak kut teh in itself is already unhealthy to start with, rite? dunno what can they do about it it's true that oftentimes, the tasty food is usually the unhealthy one.....
-
hahahaha so actually you end up developing bad habit becos you got blum lor! bad~ last time when i was a kid, if i slammed any doors, my parents would give me a good scolding, and no one in my family ever slams anything... so i developed the habit of treating all doors and drawers nicely since young wah now so cheap? when i bought my TV just 7 months ago, Samsung 40" LCD TV already costed more than $1k, not to mention LED ones...... that time i got 42" toshiba LCD at $999 is already cheapest in the whole town for this size~ you can do without Blum and take thsi chance to teach Dylan good habits... and tell him don't follow his uncle anyhow slam slam... wahahahaha
-
usually for contractor's or ID's quote, they indicate clearly that kitchen wall tiles are for exposed area only. so, it's a standard that the quotation doesn't count those area behind the cabinets... so i doubt there will be any cost saving from the quotes you received~
-
sigh my company very backward one... my Autocad 2008 is probably the newest one in the entire office~ few months back we were still using Microsoft Office 97. yes you didn't read wrongly, it's 1997......
-
40" LED $999 only? LED or LCD? aiyah don't feel disappointed la... if you don't use the kitchen i dun see why you need the Blum system hahaha... even i use kitchen daily i also dun feel the need to have... i'm not trying to console you but i just find it really unnecessary to feel disappointed about things you don't use~ haha yay good boy! LOL PhD in Photography not only have more modules to cover, also more costly $$$$$

hawker centre at blk 347 is included wor... that's my downstair's one but too bad, my hubby is already sick of the food there....... i hope the porridge stall is in the plan... i like the porridge there but sometimes find it too salty, especially when i'm not feeling well~
