  1. hmmm... technically, you will retire 3 years earlier (13-10)
  2. Hi, I am using the same one for the bottom part. In my pix - the piece curves into U shape (original is straight) due to constantly being 'bend' into that shape when you close the door (the U shape takes the width of the space/gap between the wall and the glass)
  3. Bro bepgof... 2 boys, 10 and 12. What about you? Berapa anak ada? Yes, agree that heroes die first (just like in the movies too ) Well, we learn as we go.... and we can only impart what the schools don't teach... from the school of hard knocks
  4. Home Shelter Why they even have this space wasting thing is just beyond me... and door is facing the living room somemore - they must have idiots as architects * this place will... in the end... cost me the most $ in reno * at least they provide a 'hole' in the wall to take in the handle so that the door will be flush when you open it fully.... but a square 'hole in the wall? Come on!! * argghh... the whole condo is network wired up.... EXCEPT HERE!! - just SCV and phone
  5. Living View of living room from entrance - note entrace to kitchen on the left * light point at entrace - a small downlight suffice for this small place Overview * note entrace to room on the left * sofa to be placed on the left wall... TV console on the right wall (hv to pull a new SCV there) * can see the long and narrow closet just before the passageway to the rooms - this will be converted as my wardrobe * the light point at the living area is 2-way (at entrance and wall [where aircon is]) - will use this 2-way for the dining light and use the dining light point for the proposed downlight at dining * beyond the sliding door is the balcony - need to cover it up - chengal? Close-up of passageway closet Dining * behind the full glass facade is the kitchen * can see the entrance door and the narrow walk-way * need a double power point on the bottom right of the half-wall - for powering notebooks and steamboats * need a painting on the left wall - very bare (don't think will install mirror here like what most will do - 'double space / double food = double wealth'
  6. 2br... means the 2 units on the right after coming out of the lift. Big? I suppose big or small is relative... I didn't really follow the price history of this development, irrelevant actually. From iProperty... the 2br 807sqf selling around 830-930k (1,028-1152 psf) while the bigger 3br 2100 sqf is going for a crazy 1.7-1.8mil (819-848 psf). Don't see any 3br on the market for a long time already - just wonder what's my psf now
  7. Then I am better off... as wifey is a minimalist.... everything simple, clean, one tone See my Reno-T blog you will know
  8. @matashi... yr wifey is jaga yr wallet ler
  9. Are you refering to this ...... if yes, Home-Fix has it in 8mm or 10mm. For shower door, it's 10mm - $19.90. Length... forgot... I think it's 2 metres
  10. Got this cloth tree from iwannagohome! @ Great World City - VERY reasonably priced, functional and sturdy Fits nicely at the 'dead' space in the room .... and now my MBR bay window can look like this ............
  11. OMG..... this FS thingy is deep in one sense, and common sense in another sense. I have never Feng Shui'ed any of my houses in KL or now in SG before..... hmmmm
  12. Actually, the cutting of the tiles is due to workmanship - nothing to do with whether it's a resale flat or otherwise. Hopefully the lines will not be so visible after grouting. Cheers
  13. @wolflet - good foresight and good choice - squarish is good - easy to grip (especially when you hand is full of soap) I did the following myself for my bidet... I think I paid $12 for it @ Heritage (got 2 - MBR and common bathroom)
  14. 3rd WC - at yard area * to remove everything inside and convert into storeroom (THERE'S NOWHERE ELSE IN THIS PIGEON HOLE) * remember this WC and yard... major sore point with ID (will touch on this in later posts) * a simple round light for this place suffice Plastic bi-fold door - really hate these doors... when open, the whole graveyard can awake Left side - basin w soap holder Middle - Shower set Right side - WC & toilet paper holder
  15. Yard Left view - free front loading washer cum dryer (EF WD8010ML) and rubbish chute. Bi-fold door to 3rd WC is on the right side of the pix * a lot of space on top of the washer - IKEA's Faktum? Right view - door (to remove?) to drying area... beyond that the 2 compressor2 for the 5 aircons * what drying system to select? definitely not bamboos * to tile it with same tiles (to check with management)
  16. Kitchen Overall view - taken from entrance to kitchen * only 1 light point - to parallel one downlight at cooking area and another at washing/prep area * most of the cabinets need extra shelving Left view - top hung cabinet (w frosted glass doors)with space for fridge + island top cabinet * to change cabinet to drawers * notice door to yard and 3rd WC Front view - cooking area. Top hung cabinets with normal doors * change top hung cabinet doors to frosted glass doors - to match those above the fridge and for easy cleaning (right above cooking area) * need more power points Right view - washing area + granite top (all surfaces) * no change to space under the sink * middle cabinet to be modified to accomodate a single dish drawer, balance of space to be converted to drawers (right side and bottom) * 3 drawers' runner to be changed to Blum's soft closing type. The 3-drawers for the island cabinet to follow the height of these 3 * there's no power point here... aargghhhh.... to have at least 2 on top... and another 1 under the sink
  17. The following pix were taken when we took possession of the key Swith board / patch panel / cum shoe closet Space for shoe cabinet (definitely NOT enuf) ________ SCV panel, switchboard, patch panel (data & phone), fibre optic termination box, power point for modem, etc
  18. ID love to use wallpaper - look nice with minimum effort, but it's the price. My feature wall is thus 'bare'.... just paint - to save cost. Come to think of it, I don't entertain a lot, and don't intend to invite people to visit... .so don't have to do up condo akin 'show unit' - just need to be nice and practical
  19. Floor plan with dimensions and proposed reno by ID
  20. Floor Plan Original switches mapped
  21. I find Singaporeans obsessed with this good school not so good school thing. The first thing if I tell others my son is studying in this x school, the first question they ask "is it a good school?" I will then reply, is your son a good student / or sometimes as bluntly as ... your son can study or not? I don't give two hoots about good or bad... main criteria is near to my home. ST ran an article on a parent's plight few months back.... she did all sortc of funny and stupid stuff for the school just to score brownie points so that they will accept her son - it did - good for her. When her younger son was also accepted (as he has a sibling there already).... this younger son could not cope with the pressure.... as he is not the studious type (more artistic)... unlike his elder brother.... suffered... and had a mental breakdown. Luckily his mum is not those 'die die must save face' Singaporean... and transferred him out to a 'mediocre' school (maybe drop her water face in the process).... surprise (or not surprise) that he 'blossomed' there. Agree.... the foundation thingy - is 80% cultivated at home - PARENTS!! Parents have to teach their young to indentify good and bad behaviour, excel in both good and bad environment. As for parents who only want 100% chinese, no malays, no indians.... I reserve my comments. What about chinese nationals? How to teach one to be multi-racial, tolerance, etc when he/she comes into the workplace? Now I see why many of my Singaporean colleagues behave how they behave (or lack of it) in the workplace and is a **** disaster when they travel overseas. (there's reports by tour companies branding Singaporeans being one of the worst travellers in the world - bordering the kiasu, kiasi and kiasai culture in their upbringing)..... Is this no malay, no indian thingy be the root cause?
  22. I got my WMF (don't know how many pieces) many pots and pans.... for $170 at last year's Tangs sales
  23. Danke..... yeah.... I took a pix and posted my TV feature wall somewhere... but I still have pix for before reno, during reno and viola - finito product (the one that you saw)
  24. Haha... when u see our TV feature wall - more simple!! Missing a few paintings? but wifey kinda like the simple look - me too!! Need to clean up the wiring mess at the back - one day We have a switch located at the left side of the feature wall as a master switch to control the four 3-pin plugs located at the back of the TV console (off all the AV equipment when not watching TV). I have also two 3-pin plugs that have constant power - for my phone and wireless router.
  25. My 2 boys have their own room and in the reno process, I let them choose their own room colour... The elder one wants BLACK for all walls... all furniture and practically everything. Okie, parental VETO kicks in
