  1. hehehe...thank you on your steps by steps instruction! lol.... Again, thank you for the contacts!!! Currently, I was outstation to Tangier, Morocco for 1 week. Only back to Singapore by 1st May. So, no time to update my blog. Anyway, I think I had finalized most of the IDs. Will update on the quotation and proposed floorplan once I'm back. It's quite funny that sometime, the IDs will tell you this can be done and the other IDs will tell you, no, can't be done. So confusing. lol... Quite alot of IDs telling me that my MBR can't put in King Size Bed. Any comments? I really want to have a king size in order for me to roll 1 more round! lol...
  2. ok...now we are discussing height issue here.....hahahaha.... OK. Another weekend is coming! Guess going to do some window shopping on fridge, washing machine and air-cond. Any good place to intro for me to go shop around?
  3. I think Simon did something like you. WIW covering the toilet entrance. Maybe can ask him how he do it. Not only thick skin. But also snack king inside office. Can use all the office time to surf every single blog inside reno talk!!!! Anyway, Ah SAm jie jie.....your house actually looks quite OK with its original condition. So, nothing much to complain lar. The crack, I believe is just peanuts. Edmund 100% can settle it lor. Anyway, waiting for your 3D drawing. Ask him be faster lar! the slower he is, the less business he is going to get from reno-talk! You should let him know that you are the www.asksamgalz.com and people visiting your blog is too many even Google putting your blog in it! The whole Singapore going-to-reno-ppl is waiting for Edmund 3D drawing...not only you!
  4. Thank you very much on all the advices being given. I do agree that carpentry work can do it in the later stage. Asking the ID to quote me now is that want to get an idea how much it is going to cost me. If end of the day, it's not that expensive and within my budget, of course I will grab it. Else, my study room definitely will be empty and maybe grab some simple furniture from IFM or Ikea to store my books and a table for my computer. Anyway, the carpentry that I die die must do is the Kitchen Cabinet. Others than that, should be no issue. The thing that holding me back not to do carpentry in my study room is in future, when I'm going to sell this unit, too much carpentry inside the study room might cause headache to the new buyer. Not everyone like to have such a big room being wasted and designed into study room i guess.... Yesterday night, I got a super pleasant discussion with Darren from Plush Living. I must admit he got his own way to get the things done properly and so far, he is the best ID I met in terms of experience. And of course, the quotation pricing also on the high side but we will see how it is later on. Add on thing....he is super handsome and freaking tall! I thought I'm quite tall (~185cm), but after standing side by side with him, I looks like a small chicken! hahahaha.....I think he got at least 200cm height!
  5. The wall, it is very obvious that they didn't do the plastering lar! If your contractor did quote you the wall plastering price, then you must question him why didn't do properly. Then what left out is either you ask him to redo everything for you (since it is been quoted inside for you), or you're OK with it and ask him deduct the plastering price from your quote. On the door, to double check if there is a bone at that location, maybe can differentiate it by knocking it? got something behind usually will got different knocking sound right? hehehe...anyway, just some ideas to check....
  6. wah...all the advices are breaking my heart...sob sob sob..... I know what I'm thinking is sky high but always need to look at my wallet...sigh....Guess need to talk to 2-3 more IDs then can finalize my stuff.... That time, I can ask Henry to quote me dy since I know what I want....kakakakaka... Tonight meeting with Plush Living (Darren). Hopefully he can tell me something nice!
  7. Danke! Will ring up Ideal House later today see if they give me something. Cheers!
  8. OK. Another question coming up. Conceal piping and conceal electrical work. One of the ID mentioned that concealed piping/electric wire are "PROHIBITED" for HDB (he mean concealing those piping/wire on the wall or ceiling). Is this correct? Anyone doing conceal piping/electric wire? It is super ugly if you can see those thing flying around the ceiling or toilet wall....sigh....
  9. My wife die die want to have MBR with toilet. TO her, if the toilet is somewhere else....difficult. Now I recall that every morning, can hear the water sound from the big PVC pipe....hahaha...guess that's the reason.....but if small diammeter, wondering if it will be alright.
  10. Hmm...I'm thinking something else. Like a moving/sliding feature wall with a TV on it. And this wall is in infront of the wardrobe sliding door. Anyway, just idea. Do not know if this is practical or not. Referring to the cable of the TV, we can use something like a dragchain so when the TV wall sliding, cable will not giving an issue. BTW, the cable going to the TV will be the power cable and antenna. That's all. Don't think will need any DVD player on it as you can do the watching in Living Room. Bedroom TV is strictly for bedtime purpose. hehehehe.....Maybe will plug my notebook into it to watch online drama. lol..
  11. Forgot to mention, I believe CLC did give you some sort like warranty period etc. I think no matter how, you need to let CLC know and they might able to tell you some easy way to overcome this. Good luck mate!
  12. I think you should ask your electrician to do the wiring properly and ask CLC to help you on the wallpaper. Ask the electrician meet up with your CLC ID, let them discuss how they are going to do the job (while u standing there and listem to their quarrel....hehehehe) and lastly, the cost to pay CLC of course is from your electrician or maybe CLC "might" just wave it. In my personal opinion, I will not let the electrician friend to do the wallpaper as different people might got different technic or skill to do the patching. It might end up super ugly. The best is go back CLC and ask them how to do on it and what is their opinion on this.
  13. BTW, why I didn't hear anyone using PVC pipe? Any problem with that? hehehehe.....why not we just use PVC pipe as don't have corrosion issue and leakage i guess. Actually, I do plan to do conceal piping. I also scare the SS pipe will giving leakage issue. But then again copper will be corrode. Haih...pro and cons....always give and take....
  14. OK. Finally, I come out my OWN....very first revision of my own floor plan using SmartDraw (a very good software...i must admit!) Detail Explanation: A: Dining table. At the wall, plan to put a full height mirror. Good idea? B: This one.....full height Cabinet!!!!!! Half height will be the shoe cabinets, while at the top, some are covered, some are see through open concept squarish cabinet. Not sure if you guys can catch what I mean....hahahaha....Too bad no photos around...Let me search around. C: This one actually is L shape bookshelf.....hehehehe D: OK. This one is the writing desk for 2. On top of it, there will be open concept bookshelf and at the side, might do some full height book shelf as well. Good? E: This one, not sure if "such thing" exist or not. TV console wall + Wardrobe combo. lol.....meaning something like the TV is mount on a door of the wardrobe and can slide around. Wondering this is practical or not...hahaha...but actually, this is the best orientation I can design for my MBR. F: Fridge. Nothing much. G: Washing machine. H: OK. For this one, I'm not sure want to do a "U" shape or just an invert "L" shape. any suggestions? I'm afraid it will be too crowded inside the kitchen. Any comments and suggestion are most welcome!!!
  15. Hi there! Just realized that you are having a similar floorplan with my newly bought 4A HDB flat! (i will say 99.9% similar except the store room location...hahahaha) After looking all your design, it really give me alot of ideas on how to do mine! TBH, I'm so headache with my MBR as the shape is not squarish and so hard to put in TV, Wardrobe and King size bed into it. After looking yours, I'm planning to do exactly the same like yours.....but going to ask ID if the wardrobe can be a combo of TV feature wall + Wardrobe...lol.....Hopefully, it can be done! Anyway, I will keep tracing on your blog here. Please post more photos. Thank you very much! Cheers!
  16. Hi Ah_Dun, Any 3D drawing for your renovation? Mind to post it here? One more thing, noticed that you engaging Ideal House to help you do the reno. Who you are engaging with? And roughly how much is that? Thank you very much!
  17. OK. I got question to ask. Regarding to Plumbing Stainless Steel Pipe and Copper Pipe. According to one of the ID, firstly, Copper pipe is more expensive than stainless steel pipe. Stainless Steel Pipe Pro: No corrosion. Cons: Can't properly join together 2 pipes. When the water pressure is high, the stainless steel pipe will be burst. According to the ID, SS Pipe is very hard to do the threading. Even with threading, you can't lock it properly as it won't be fully tight. Copper Pipe Pro: Can properly join. Will sustain high water pressure. Cons: Corrosion will happened after ~10 years. Anyone can enlighten me on this?

Need to settle by end May as I am going to change my job on Jun. So, might had less time to study on reno stuff as need to pickup in the new company.... TBH, I will look into end result....progression is not important! hahahaha....Everytime I read a novel, after first few chapters, I will flip over to the last few chapters to read first....same goes to watching drama...first few episodes, then straight away to last episode...then got an idea how it is...lol....
