  1. ya indeed, these are the few I will definitely open to read when I log in. If I still feel free after that, then I will open other blogs to kay po
  2. hey bearlyn we got one quite strong stopper. Actually bought for our main door, but contractor blur - install his own type. Since already installed and that stopper can also work, dunno what to do with the one we bought liao. you ai mai?
  3. better install more points, if no need just don't turn on. If like me, not enough, cannot do anything liao .
  4. hi hi joseng long time no hear from you again! so you mean you have to remove it frequently to clean? I also find some dark spots on the underside of the rack. But my reason for wanting it down is bc it's too high for me - can't use so white elephant. So thought of removing them and replacing with 2 wooden planks as shelves. And plan to go song cho to get the table top dish drainer.
  5. i know what u mean. We had a fair share of wrongly done things too. Everything just say, no black and white. I thought I said this, he thought I said that. In the end, ...
  6. if glass, need hiinge for glass. cannot use the hdb given ones. also there is some restriction with the door frame done by hdb. that is why end up i can't use glass door, though that's our first choice.
  7. ok ok, thanks. his workmanship ok right? so small area cannot be blur and install wrong place lah hor?
  8. ha ha .. u should join yr hubby in the singing .. maybe can get 50% off leh! jokes aside, therat, does yr carpenter do small scope of work? I need to do something at the dish rack cabinet, and am looking for someone who d not mind doing mini scale job
  9. think i might still have half a roll. u want?
  10. wah, that's alot of eyes to close. #1 - still ok, since the colour still looks nice and matches #2 - u are good - this one also can close eye! Before confirm, we negotiate payment scheme so as to hold last 15%, and he is ok to that. As reno progresses, he sort of earn our trust, so in the end, we paid full when he handed over, though there are still works not done (and I am not even talking about rectification). Even then he still did all the outstanding without us pushing him. But now that all the works are considered done, it became so difficult to activate him to send his guys over for little things.
  11. good idea, but may not work if taking housing loan bc most banks limit no of cheques right? Unless you don't mind paying extra $10 or so per cheque? Another problem - towards the end of reno, say last week, not holding back much final payment, kinda "dangerous" if cannot find people to rectify?
  12. hi pk Tried to pm you but yr mailbox is full. Can you please forward yr carpenter's contact? Thanks
  13. Can anyone advise if the dish rack mounted by carpenters on the cabinets can be removed, ie by ourselves? I tried to search for screws that fasten the two pieces to my top hung cabinet, but can't find any. Or does anyone know of a carpenter who is willing to do it? Just to remove the two pieces of rack, replace with two shelves, plus an alu frame glass door to close. anyone please? thanks
  14. Anyone knows if the dish rack mounted by the carpenter can be removed? How? We were trying to look for screws etc but found nothing. Wonder if the 2 pieces are held together by the 2 planks on wood on the side? or can they be independently removed without damaging the cabinets/shelves at the sides?
  15. ha ha, hope they did not disappoint .. yes, should try with yr wife. A leisurely stroll will do her good, and the evening air there isn't too bad too. Actually, minus the few days when we had the haze, I find the air at FV quite good, esp since we have quite a bit of yet-to-develop areas and parks around. The mornings are quite chilly too, like countryside living must grab the opportunity to start jogging before more flats conquer the area!
  16. then I think he really needs the 10 downlights. I find my hall a bit too dark for my liking must strain eyes to do my stuff
  17. ya lor - told my girls that we will be back by 12plus to bring them out for lunch. Wah, after the tour, famish liao, so decided to just go opposite and eat. ha ha ha, and we met 15may and hubby there too! Ya, let's keep up the meetings, and this time banned must join us ah!
  18. If space permits, I would def go for casement door - this, to me, is the most durable. Second choice - sliding door, again need to check if there is space to slide the door to the other side. Last resort - folding door. I believe there are 2 types - PD door and bifold door. PD door is the slide and swing type, which is a little more durable. I have used both types, and find that for bifold, the door "derail" from the track easily. Material is also very important. My first choice is glass - classy and easy maintenance, esp when washing the toilet. For my toilet, we had to do wooden door which I think is a major mistake. Contractor said that because of the door frame which HDB had built, it is not possible to build a glass door - not sure how true this is now ..
  19. hi pixel First time looking through your blog, since now my reno is completed and I am reliving days reading RT, minus the stress. Wow, how do you tell yr ID no eating is allowed? For us, we are ok with eating, but one afternoon, we entered the house to smell some horrid stench! After some police work around, we found 2 ta pau packets in one corner of the floor! Prob discarded since the day before! btw I like your preference for bold colours! My kitchen is orange too
  20. aiyo, I consider you like part of FV liao. You like shareholder in bear's house
  21. This evening, decided to explore more of the neighbourhood. Remember my hubby asked about the bridge at Thamgam station? Decided to check it out - so took a leisurely stroll to Jalan Kaya, via the bridge. Quite a pleasant experience - good weather, short walk, some long forgotten contact with nature - the breeze brought lots of angsana pods to the air - and a yummy dinner at Mad Jack! Love it!
  22. ignorance is no exception - like that v dangerous!
  23. wah, black wall? or is it grey? can't quite tell from the pix
