  4. Morgan, this is Andrew. Our hardwood floor was damaged (gaps) when our contractor flooded the house for hours. Now that the reno is over, we are thinking of replacing it with vinyl. We much rather have real wood but we have kids and can't imagine going through another round of hacking out the old floors and putting in new ones. Can our floors be repaired? What do you think?

Doing a reno on condo in city area

ID recommended a pretty new type of Vinyl 'click clack' flooring due to time constraints as we would like to move in by mid Aug

I know you are an advocate for solid timber/parquet flooring, but what thoughts do you have regarding these vinyl flooring vs timber/parquet in terms of

  13. to darken the wood, you can sand off the existing clear coating and apply dye/stain. then apply a new clear coat and you will get a darker color. to lighten the wood, the only way is to bleach it. you cannot dye it white as the original color will still show. you may bleach it then dye it a color lighter than its original wood color. but oily timber like burmese teak is not suitable for this method as the natural oils tend to leach out and spoil the look.
  14. total area is approx 435sqft. 3200/435=$7.40psf Do you have information on the size of the parquet pieces going to be installed? if the timber is burmese teak 11x50x200-300mm, its ex 11x73x300-1000mm, its cheap
  15. how many sqft is your bedrooms. not possible to gauge expensive or not without the actual area.
