  7. yooo bro.. how is ur reno progress?
  8. hey, i have exactly that super remote too! i didnt even know it when my electrican installed for me. until when i moved in, i saw how come got 3 remote controls on my wall. 1 for air-con, 1 for kdk fan, the last one? scratching my head.. then i pressed it... waaaaa! this is magic! now i no need to sissor-paper-stone with my wife to see who switch off the lights when we go to bed at night.... kekekekeke..
  9. thanks for the advice.. still dunno which brand is reliable... what r u using personally?
  10. [Post-Reno work] Last sat, painter came to re-painted those cracked lines all over the house. It looks good now. =) Met up with carpenter to add 2 more items: 3ft wide and full height shoes cabinent @ $540 ($180 /ft), and a head board for my bed ($300)... after shopping for shoes cabinets for the past few weeks, i realised most half height cabinets are already $350+ to $400. Might as well do full height with my carpenter only $500+. Somemore laminate can blend with my existing living room TV console and Feature Wall. as for head board, i admitted that i am a lazy fellow to do DIY. easy way out is to pay for one. whole house still looks plain and boring. decided to put up some decors. bought 3 wall stickers from G-Market online to decorate my walls ($6.5o each). havent seen the quality yet. also hanged up my big big wedding potrait at dining area.. haha.. now eating dinner will see my own face grinning back at me..
  11. thanks all for the advice.. now most vacuum cleaners got hepa filter... what does it really do?
  12. Hi all, i am looking for vacuum cleaners. Been to Best Denki and other electrical shops over the past 2 weeks, noted various brands like: Philips Miele Brosh Dyson Electrolux Karcher Rowenta Samsung My requirements are simple: 1. Budget of $350 and below; 2. Bagless; 3. Good suction; 4. Light weight; 5. For vacuuming homo flooirng, laminate flooring, L-box - clove light holder @ ceiling, carpet, mattress and sofa Appreciate it if u guys can share with me your experience with your vacuum cleaners in terms of their durability and value for money. =) thank you thank you!
  13. i got mine @ $190 CHAMPS 707 from *spam AMK. But i think they increased the price to $220 liao.. u can call in and ask Richard (the boss). google for the address and contact! opps, mine was a storage heater... paisay.. kekeke
  14. every time after the repair, he did show us that is no leaking. problem is that the leaking will only slowly surface after 1 week. arghhh... my reno warranty is 5 years... probably every month call them down to tighten this leaking pipe lor. so, today visit is the 2 out of 60 trips. jia you plumber!
  15. depending on the laminate used for the laminate door. some laminate are more expensive, there door cost will increase also...
  16. yea, i am using stainless steel piping... got difference ah?
  17. my research and understanding from IDs is that for laminate doors, u will see the laminate joining lines along the edge of the whole door. this is the same concept for any laminate carpentry work. so, that's possibility of laminate peeling off over the years. but for veneer door, u wont see any joining lines because the cover (or sticker or wadever) is over the whole door one. it is not pasted from different cut out pieces.
  18. dunno leh.. maybe my water pressure from the CHAMPS Storage Heater too powerful... it's the metal piping connecting to the mixer is leaking, so plumber cannot push blame to my mixer or storage heater.. kekeke. heng..
  19. 3 weeks after moving in.. hmmm, still having problems with the same leaking hot water inlet to shower mixer in common bathroom. ID asked me to call his sub-con, Lucky Koon directly to complain. cracks lines along the joining part between erected walls (hollow blocks) and original hdb walls are getting out of controls. Almost all joining parts have crack lines that run from ceiling top to flooring. quite disgusted. area affected: study room, kitchen wall and storeroom... called my ID during CNY. he said very normal. even after work patched up with paint /cement, crack lines will still appear. WTH? anyone have this problems?
  20. hmm.. i am still not convinced with the crack lines.. i went to my uncle place last sat. his reno just ended.. i walked ard his place like a police dog sniffing at his walls and ceiling work for crack lines.. didnt see any at all! -_-! my ID said this group of his tilers is the best in his company liao. aiseh..
  21. my id quoted my kitchen wall tiles of area 260psf. when the reno started halfway into tiling work, workers realised that my kitchen require almost 500sf of tiles! my id admitted it's his fault for overlooking this, and accepted to absorb the top up. thumbs up for his professionalism in this aspect. ur id simply not interested in possible future referrals from u ah?
  22. FYI, all my erected walls using hollow blocks (same as yours in the picture) have crack lines along the joining part between new walls and origianl HDB walls. Painter covered the cracks line 2 weeks ago, but they came out again. i asked my ID again, he said crack lines are VERY normal for exrect walls using hollow blocks. make sure u check with ur contractor /id on this.
  23. ahhhh.. good recommendation.. i am very anal over water marks too!
  24. sorry to hear abt ur nightmare... i have bad experiences with other plumber companies... 1st incident at my rented place. my water inlet to WC is leaking.... they came and reparied, and said that need to change this and that... Quoted me $100. i said too exp, i'll find other ppl do it. then he said must pay $40 for service. WTF... i asked the security guard took him away... 2nd incident at my parent's place. plumber quoted $50 for a repair of choking WC. after work completed, he demanded for $200 because he said he helped to repair other parts as well. my mother didnt want to pay, and that f**ker just sat on our living room floor like a 3 years old kid didnt want to leave the place. we called security, and he argued back that his boss instructed him to stay at the customer's place until he gets the $$$. how freaking barbaric these plumbers.... we get these plumbers contacts from chinese newspapers.... after all these incidents, we have enough... now we only use town council website advertised plumbers. at least anything goes wrong, we will report to town council...
  25. ur contractor's Variation Orders are crap... can't believe that he thinks owners like us are stupid and will accept his VO without comparing market prices. worse, most of the VO are result of his poor work and neglience which led to damages on your initial purchased items. good thing is that he has already did all the additional items w/o getting ur $$$ yet. dun pay that idiot a single cent. $650 for bi-fold door? i can get 3 bi-fold doors for that amount, or simply go for tempered glass swing door @ only $400+. that $950 powerpoint is a joke. my electrician installed for me 4 additional double powerpoint @ ZERO costs. Repaint wall SHOULD NOT be a VO item because this is a VERY basic customer's rights to demand touch-up of his poor work.
