  1. We shortlisted 3 IDs for our renovation. For simplicity we will call them Company A, Company B and Company C. Our budget for this renovation was about $35k but we decided to inform the IDs that our budget was $30k instead.. All the IDs were told not to quote for the Air-Con system and Electrical items. Company A (contact from Forum): We visited their showroom and explained our renovation requirement.Spent nearly 2 hours discussing the renovation using the floor plan drawing. The ID seems eager to get our business. Followed up with another meeting at the new flat the following week. After which, the ID MIA. Contacted the ID a few times to ask for a quote but excuses were given instead. After nearly 3 weeks we received the quote. The quote was slightly below $30k. We decided to give this ID a pass due to the late response in providing a quote and quite a few missing items in the quote. Company B (referral from relative) Met the ID at the new flat. He was late by 30 minutes. We again explain our requirements for the renovation. This ID had a lot of ideas. There were so many design ideas flowing out of him that we feel that he was not listening to our requirements. We feel that he wanted to renovate our flat based on his requirements and not ours. He replied with a quote within one week but end up to be the most expensive quote. Way above $40k despite us telling him our budget of $30k. Company C (Referral from friend who has used this ID 3 times) Met the ID at the new flat. He was late by 10 minutes. Initially had some problem understanding him due to his speech. ID listened to our requirements and made some suggestions. He also started sketching some rough drawings to demonstrate his ideas. Quote receive one week later and it was slightly more than $30k. We met Company C again to go through his quote as some items were missed out. This added another 1k to the quote. Further we told him to provided unit price for the electrical items but the exact quantity of the items will only be finalised later. The ID also informed us that his quote was based on a promotion that was ongoing for the tiles and urge us to take advantage of the promotion. We sign with this ID 3 days later and was excited to commence on our renovation journey.
  2. After patiently waiting for 4 years, we have finally collected the keys to our new BTO flat. This blog will track our renovation journey. I have reserved the next 5 replies so that all the information can be gathered in one page. We dont have any theme or mood photos for our renovation as we do not want to be restricted. But we do have some design requirements 1) Bathtub in master toilet 2) Cove and downlights for living room 3) Exhaust fan in toilet to improve ventilation 4) Min 55 inch TV for living room 5) Ceiling fans in each room 6) Bar counter in living room 7) Cover up Bomb Shelter door We opted out of the HDB tiles and doors so these two items will need to be added in the renovation.

  8. I had the same experience. I bought the dunlop mattress 2.5 years ago for $799 and this year i realise that the half of the mattress's latex top is sagging. I called dunlopillo singapore in March 2010 to claim for warranty and was forwarded to Mr Eddie. I was told that i will need to pay 30% of the existing mattress price (price has gone up to $1299) for the repair work. He quoted the price without even viewing the mattress. I requested for him to view the mattress to access the repair works but i was told to wait 2 weeks later as they were doing stock take. Now 3 months later and after numerous calls to dunlopillo singapore to follow up on my warranty, nobody has viewed my mattress. Dunlopillo Singapore doesn't even have an email address to give me thus i am unable to submit a complain letter to them.
