  1. Very cute!! you do it without a template?? Excellent piece of DIY work!!
  2. At that time because still very far off from our reno, so ask for flexibility of colours to be stated in contract.. In any case, i believe that they have disclaimers in the contract to protect themselves in the event that they run out of stocks.. After tuesday running around sourcing for laminates, i realize that its actually very common for these laminates companies to run out of stocks.. hmmm no buyer yet but but but.. hmmm.. after my research and talking to different people, not recommended la.. haha.. but if you are still interested can ask Red Audi to show you the samples, he have the latest catalogue now as he liaise with sales guy that i signed with.. Anyway we had signed with Kronotex after comparing with Evorich.. Evorich had quite a number of designs to chose from but they lose out as many in their range is out of stock now and i need it urgently.. Kronotex will be installing next week, will let you know their workmanship after installation. As for the LED, i guessing the white colour box should be the transformer? sorry i really not very familiar with this.. hmm.. ya should be fine as i think for general lighting, LEDs works fine but as i mention in my earlier posts, people who like their house bright bright will not like lo. Good luck for your renovation! Till date i still think Red Audi is competent and responsible la so i guess you are in good hands! Time to start your reno blog lo!
  3. Hey here is the pic of the LED we use, think its only one big LED within the downlight lo
  4. Don't think so.. Actually its not they cannot fulfill their contract, its we don't like their current range.. The flexibility to chose from their range of products that is stated in the contract works both ways now.. And not possible to restock as they are only bringing their newer range.. signz.. Ohhh.. actually i really don't have much knowledge in lights lo.. Before my reno starts, don't even foresee i will have LED lights at home.. haha.. anyway correction in the prices that i mentioned in my earlier post, it should be $65 per piece instead.. I guess my LED lights should be those that come in a set, as i itchy hands try to dismantle one of it but failed. As for number of bulbs within i will need to confirm again when i go down lo... didn't really take note of it.. Besides cost factor, LED really create a very soft and cozy ambience which i really liked but you might want to take note that it might not be strong enough for long hours of reading and if you really like your house to be bright bright, you might need to supplement your LEDs with other forms of lightings like cove.. But these really depends on individuals..
  5. Laminated Flooring... Sign up a package deal for our laminated flooring with Supreme Flooring a few months back, even before we start looking for ID for our renovation.. Thought we got a good deal, and at that time we are sold as we really like the samples that they put at exhibition and the idea of an additional layer of dampener between the laminates and the floor.. Fast forward to last week, to our absolute dismay all the colours we pick all so called out of stock, as the sales explained that the remaining stocks that they have is for reparation purpose and not for sales.. So he promptly passed the latest samples of stocks they have to Red Audi (Rhiss and Supreme has business relationship), and our heart sank deeper as we dislike all.. The colours and wood grains they have now are really what we don't like at all.. They have a variant of the wenge colour we pick but the colour tone is much lighter.. Really very, very sianz.. haiz.. After much discussions on this, we decide to ask Red Audi to give us a quote using Kronotex and see whether the cost, plus the deposit forfeited to Supreme is something we can lived with.. Though the deposit is only $500 but its still monies throw down the sea.. Red Audi think its very wasteful and propose we ask Supreme to use the laminates to do as a fixture wall in my study! haha.. thought i hear wrongly but he assured me that this can be done.. this is really something new to me.. hmmm.. But then me and my missus agreed that rather than put something that might not be in sync with the theme we have in mind for our house, we rather forgo the 500 bucks.. Sales Pitch: Anyway the laminates not necessarily have to be installed at my house so anyone keen to take over mine? if you are interested in Supreme Flooring? Grade quote is AC5 and its $5 psf. Can sell you cheap at $200 for the $500 we paid..
  6. Hey thanks! actually just self-created one more problem for ourselves for the laminated flooring package that we signed earlier at an exhibition.. haiz.. will mentioned more in my next post.. Carpentry will be up on the first week of Jan and judging from the carpentry works of my colleague who is using the same carpenter, it should be quite good! My LED is $68 per piece and include everything that make it works, if thats what you mean.. haha.. its 5 watts and you should check with reglxt, think she got at a cheaper price and with a better bulb lo but not too sure about the watts.
  7. no problem and don't worry too much ya! Hey hi neighbour! ya there are plenty of IDs around, speak to them and do your homework, and enjoy the whole process! Hopefully you will start your own blog here too??
  8. We got 6 stamps and bought 2 sets of the WMF cutleris, loving it! haha.. But we go around did some research, think this model of cutleris should be phasing out soon..
  9. Hi porkypork, check with your carpenter first lo because i still have not digest the technical details of why it cannot be done.. hmmm.. will ask again if i have the chance to speak to him ya! Pm you! Wishing everyone here a joyous and blissful Christmas! Enjoy the festive period!!
  10. hmmm... i thought newly painted houses should not have such insects infestation? or am i mistaken.. oh i didn't know that there are dogs that can smell out insects?! so when are you shifting your dog to your new home? so next time maybe i see someone with a jack rusell at vista, i should try to approach and see if its u! haha.. u need canine therapy, and i need forum therapy. lolz
  11. Finally went to take a look at my new house just now as last few days really too busy with work.. but see the piece of **** done by my air-con installers really make my blood boil.. All 3 blowers are installed directly BELOW the holes that are cut out for them in the false ceiling, then for what i get the holes cut for them in the first place! The measurements of the holes are correct so don't know what the he*l they are doing. They did a poor job to wrap up my blowers too.. I think i am quite forgiving for genuine mistakes make as i am not a perfectionist.. but i simply cannot stand people who totally don't use brains when they work.. The holes is very obviously cut for the blowers and i don't see any reasons why they will chose to install the aircon blowers right below the cutouts.. they thought i will install cove lights there??? Initially want to wait till tmr then feedback since its quite late, but really cannot contain my fury so text my ID for opinions.. Really too angry liao so change back to my sergeant days in the army and use pretty strong language to state my displeasure.. Think this is the first time he see me so furious so next thing i know, the air-con boss give me a call.. hmmm.. he is quite apologetic and did not try to find excuses for his workers.. he promised me he will go down to job site and view what is been done, and promise me a satisfactory resolution by tmr.. By now half of my fury is gone and then my ID text me to inform me that he will be meeting the air-con boss tmr at the jobsite.. So now gotta wait till tmr and see what solutions they come out with.. Sorry about the grumbling, but simply can't help it..
  12. Lovely! wish i had the space and moolas to do the same for my entrance but i had none.. signz.. Went back to your earlier posts and see your 3D pics, you really laying marble top by your bay windows.. Wow never see anything similar before lo, please post pics when its done ya!
  13. Initially the plan for my MBR bathroom is to "wrap" the original HDB sink with the vanity cupboard.. This is to cut cost and Red Audi think the sink is quite good so no need to replace.. Hence we have went out to buy taps as we really don't like the original taps.. However the carpenter tell Red Audi that the "wrapping" idea will not work as due to the design, the pipe below will still be exposed and the top will not fit nicely with the sink, hence if vanity is required, the whole sink have to be replaced.. Red Audi went back with us to the shop to exchange the tap, and without us asking for it, he bear the cost of the new sink! haha.. Though its not expensive stuff, but to me its an important gesture as he acknowledged his mistake and he is willing to bear the responsibility for it.. great! Another good thing that come out of this is since we are changing the sink to the bowl type, we can change the tap to something we really like! Yippie!
  14. Wow, your house looks like something that comes out from the design magazine lo.. look really fantastic! Congrats! and congrats for slimming down too!! haha!
  15. Totally agree on this! Communication is critical in the reno, its better to highlight early to ID on areas that can be improved on rather than at a later stage when you think you cannot live with it and ask ID to rectify.. I think generally renovation will have issues here and there and us owners should not be shy to feedback, since the contractors/IDs are not embarrassed about mistakes they made too!! Anyway glad for you that you are happy with your renovation! hmmm.. but how come jason never come update photos at your blog? he too busy liao?
  16. Oh polishing will be very dusty wor.. hmm.. better to find all issues and get them rectified in one day, saved you the trouble of constantly cleaning after every tasks they did.. Actually me not too sure how to check grouting lo.. hmm.. anyway for the low water pressure, u can call BSC and they will fixed it for you. My house also low water pressure but was fixed on the same day after i give them a call..
  17. Haha yea this is the antagonizing part, so close to finishing yet still have to wait a little.. but really very soon lo!! anyway saw your post of the grouting is gone from your toilet tiles in punggol forum, whats the story?
  18. Haha thought all LEDs are optiled? am i mistaken? me really clueless of what i am buying, only know my LED are 5watt.. hmm.. really need to take a closer look when i go down! Haha ya you are right and i am glad i have plenty of cove lights! Me don't really like table lamps or study light leh, think its too close for comfort.. and give me reading fatigue very easily.. ya lor, now my study room is too romantic to be a study room.. so gotta change the LED to normal downlights for better lighting..
  19. Haha on the contrary, one look at me and you will never associate rich with me! I got the poor man look! Ya similar to aircon, i am clueless with lights too.. before reno thought downlights are just one model with different shapes only, then realize the light bulbs that come with it matters too with the different wattage available.. and the price difference is really saw the $100+ lights too so i guess what i getting is not a rip-off price and i just get it lo.. Don't want to confuse myself further! :P
  20. Hey yoz!! i got mine at 68 bucks per piece.. If you got it lower than i do, please don't let me know! wahahaha!!
  21. Normal downlights should be sufficient in my opinion.. but be warned its area of lighting is quite small and you will need plenty of downlights to keep the whole place bright.. hmmm.. but best is if you can go to someone house with downlights and judge it yourself.. Hehe thanks! ya chose warm lights for all so really got the cozy feel.. feel right at home! Yep check with him directly will be better!
  22. Wow you have a squarish layout with no odd angles, looks like you can play with plenty of designs! From your current house, seems like you are a parquet lover, new house also parquet all the way? Anyway welcome to T-blog!
  23. As my tiling continue to the 3rd week, my impatience grows.. though i am tiling my whole house less the 2 rooms, part of MBR, toilets and using 3 different tiles, does it usually take this long? Though i will say the workmanship so far is quite good except for the skirting, which the tiler is redoing for me now, i really not sure why need to take so long to complete.. hmmm.. Anyway on the contrary, the electrician nicknamed by ID as Feng Yun is very efficient! Activated by Red Audi to fix the lights, he promised a dateline and delivered before it! Visit my house on a saturday night at 8pm+ and he was still around.. Immediately explain to us what he had done and express his concerns over the practicality of our lights chosen, and offer alternatives.. Great altitude and can see he really take responsibility of his work.. Good! Some glimpses of my passageway.. Like what Kerio had mentioned, think i will depend a lot on my cove lights for lighting lo... hmmm.. One of the rooms using LEDs.. now i know why LED save electricity, its not bright at all!! tsk tsk.. For study room, i will not suggest LEDs but for cozy room, LED is great! My other half actually feel that the LED lights look very romantic.. haha! MBR.. note the cover of the downlights are not fixed yet as its glass and my electrician is concerned.. so he will come back and fix for me when everything is done.. The best thing is we don't need to visit our new house in darkness anymore!! yeah!
  24. Hmmm you mean the carpenter's contact? sorry didn't cross my mind to get his contacts as i am liaising with him through Red Audi.. paiseh paiseh
  25. Congrats bro!! everything look swee swee wor! Just curious will you be adding a glass backing for the kitchen below?
