My reno officially starts today!! Too bad me and hubby gotto work so we can't be there..but we handover the house keys to the ID on sat and the workers brought up their tools to our house. The first 3 days will be hacking works...so its good we're staying away from the dust and noise..will prob go up there on wed to check on the progress...my ID was super nice to throw in an additional L-box for me in our MBR bathroom...this'll help to conceal all ugly water pipes...nice~ Me and hubby went over to the COMEX show yesterday and since its the last day, there were many good deals going on. We managed to grab my dream white TV amongst the chaos...I always wanted to own a white tv but sadly the one from Samsung has already EOL..but luckily Sony came out with one...design is not as sleek as Samsung but specs was pretty good. We were given free wall bracket, HDMI cable and $200 Isetan vouchers! Din even managed to venture up to the 6th level cos we were already broke by the time we reach level 5 with another purchase which hubby wanted...a Soundbar!! No more messy wires for HTS! Sound quality is so much better compared to our Samsung HTS. And this brand is a star winner among its peers. Great buy! We got an extra $50 discount on top of the already low discounted price cos the Emcee made a wrong announcement of the price...hehe...happy. Bought this on sat as well...for our living room. And also bought our concealed mixer set from PJ..the boss was nice enough to throw in many freebies for us...so everything went within our budget... Something else we're lemming to buy...hopefully some sale comes soon.

With some help from our ID, we've decided to go ahead with the tiles we've selected cos we really liked them and can't seem to find anything better. So there goes, our final tiles! We selected our laminates yesterday as well...chose a rather special one for our wardrobe...hopefully it turns out well..
-
that'll be great! Thanks!! I wanted a plain tile initially but seems that tiles with some lines on it will be whiter...guess i am leaning towards the this kinda tile now..shall look forward to your PM then!
-
hehe..so coincidence..your house looks great! may i know where is your tile from and which model? I just asked my ID to lookout for whiter homo tiles for me..cos the one we selected is from HF is really not acceptable...appreciate it..thanks!
-
Living room tile May i know where is your floor tile from? Yours look really white...I am trying hard to find a white homo tile which doesn't cost a bomb...appreciate your help! Thanks!
-
nice reno~ crab..your living floor tile is white matt homo? I like your toilet bowls and sink ..i will be using a similar rectangular sink for my MBR toilet. I intend to let my rabbits roam freely as well..only thing is i have 6 of them...4 were the offsprings of my initial 2..we intend to give them the entire balcony to roam about. hope to see your pics soon!

hihi jessie.. actually furniture in bkk will be a much better choice...but u gotto know how to ship it back...me & hubby lugged back two AIR DIVISION lookalike barstools during our last trip...and they only cost $300+ for 2. AIR is selling 1 for $400+. everytime me & hubby visit bkk..we'll make it a point to lug back at least 1 furniture pc..hahhaa.

While researching for my kitchen design..i found some really nice kitchens online. Will share with you guys, hopefully its useful when you design your dream kitchen too. These are more towards the loft concept kind of kitchen. Quite ideal for city dwellers like us who usually just fix up quick meals... Thanks Jessie...were u the one that sms me on the blinds? If you are..hope that the blinds fit your place..then we'll get to meet each other. keke... How's the progress on your EM?

I saw the glass tiles too..realli nice~ but they range between $9-$10psf..no way i can afford that. You have any pic of your white tiles? I thought warping only happens to 800x800 tiles..din know small tiles will warp too. I'll look around a bit more...if really can't find any, will just stick to my 1st choice.

My selected tiles Balcony floor & common toilet MBR toilet tiles ~ sadly my ID said the floor tiles cannot be used cos its too big..have to reselect a smaller tile in order to have good gradient..but me and hubby really liked this floor tile..sighx.. Homo. floor tile...can't afford the super white tiles @ $9 - $10psf..this is the closer we can get to white..anyone here has seen whiter homo. tiles? Pls let me know...much appreciated!! Thinking of getting this tap for our MBR..but need to check if the sink can fit first. Headache Bought this F&P dishwasher from a fellow forummer...thanks for the great deal~ finally i get to enjoy my cooking without the washing!! Can't wait to get this installed and start using it. I am so excited cos we're shifting out this weekend~ one step closer to our reno..yippeeeee

Hi, i am not too sure what brand this is..tink its a no-brand. PJ is well known for selling look-alike designer stuff. Anyway, as long as it serves the purpose, I am more than happy. The price PJ quote are usually quite good so no discount is needed...but i did get a overall discount after buying a few items. I saw this original Franke sink in other shops too..cost $300+. Sim Siang Choon also have similar sinks for $300 - $400+. I got mine for only $280. your ID must have done a really good job in gaining your trust. i hope things turn out well for you too...remember to share pics here. My ID just told me he can't offer anymore reduction...so i guess its either i dump in more cash..or else will just hv to sacrifice some stuff...sighx~

Pardon me but this is a condo right? Dun tink HDB will build such a daring bathroom...but its nice~ great view while showering..
-
thanks apa...thats all i need. me n hubby not the super superstitious kind..but jus wanna avoid the super bad dates...hehe...so i shall start on 1st Sep then! just got the final quote from ID due to the many amendments...almost fainted when i see the price..exceeds our budget by a lot. now i dunno if i shld eat grass for the next few mths to have a beautiful house or wat..only pray that ID can give a fat discount for us or throw in more freebies ba. btw, anyone here that gets a flat discount from your ID on top of freebies? Eg. 1-5% off the total price? my ID say cos he giving me a % discount...so can't afford to give anymore freebies...not sure if thats true..

thanks jessie ...saw you started your reno as well...all the best..hope to see your nice nice house soon! some updates, we went down to Creative Living at Expo last sat...many ID firms there...saw Atlantis there...really tempted to get one of their aquarium but decided not to cos too troublesome to maintain it..we already have too many pets at home...6 rabbits and 1 dog. Went down to meet ID and select tiles on sun...finally we settled on the tiles for our living room, toilets and balcony. Wanted to use black glossy tile for toilet floor initially but many people warned me that it might be too dangerous...so decided to go for something else which is safer...we choose white matt tiles for our toilet walls and grey floor tiles for toilets and balcony...the pics i took doesn't seem to look good...will try to post up pics soon...will be shifting out this weekend....counting down 3 weeks to reno!! Oh ya, as predicted correctly by my ID, I made a lot of changes to the initial layout..especially the kitchen...cos its my domain ma...so it muz look good....hopefully the revised quote doesn't come up to be a lot.

oh dear...its prob done by the 1st contractor..did u guys owe them any payment? thanks for sharing your story...will take note not to shift in any valueables while house is still undergoing reno.. hope they catch the culprit soon!
-
great job on the transformation! I am sure if your dad allowed to dismantle the wooden cabinets, the house will look even better! Like the wallpaper idea...great job! Perhaps try to convince your dad to let you paint the TV cabinet to a nicer color...then go bold with orange or pink~

After missing updates for so long...i am finally counting down to our renovation! Currently in the midst of shifting out...what seems to be a minimalistic house to us seems to store tons of junk...so hubby and I had a hard time packing and shifting them over to our parents place. Reminds me of the first time when we shifted in just that our belongings seems to have multiply by 10-fold! Scary. Anyways, we plan to start our reno on 1st Sep but we don't have a Tong-Shu at home..just wondering any kind soul out here that can tell me if 31st of Aug or 1st of Sep is a good day to "Dong-tu"? TIA! Will be back with photos updates soon I hope..

Too overwhelmed by work and family lately so no time for updates.. We finally signed on the dotted line last sat! Overall quote exceeds my initial budget by $340...and we expect it to hit $46k with the electrical work or other misc. items...hopefully it doesn't. Keeping my fingers crossedX. But glad to say that there are no other hidden charges...only additional charges should we decide to add anything. Prior to meeting our ID, we went down to Poh Joo to make our purchases...bought my hood, kitchen sink and tap from them and our WCs from the shop next to them. Wanted to get our WC from Poh Joo initially and I was asking the salesguy whether they have a modern looking low tank WC...he replied there is none except the one on display which I didn't like..thus we settled for a mid-low tank WC which looks sleek and is cheaper than the similar model sold in PJ. The boss from PJ saw we made the purchase at their neighbour and commented actually they have a low tank model and its only selling at $220...@#$%$. Only now then they tell us...they did not mention they have other low tank model when we were enquiring eariler on..pissed! So lesson learnt...always confirm, confirm and re-confirm before you buy anything. On a happier note..seeking Apple's advice...rather pay more for something I like than regret it later...so i decided to go for it and got my ideal sink...its selling for $280 at PJ. And my ideal tap in matt finish.. We went down to quite a few warehouse sale recently too since its the GSS period now. Went to Hoe Kee (Rainshower set @ $140 ea...quite cheap but not much designs to choose from.), AIR Division (where we saw this barstool we like but price is too ex. to afford), LifeShop (bought some decoratives there and saw the hanging chair which I like on sale...but decided not to buy now in case I regret it again). Overall I guess my biggest gain is the Kartell chairs from Space...we saved more than $1k on those chairs cos its on sale.

hi jeddie.. wow, can't wait to see your completed house. the 3Ds are very nice!! i hv a doggie too but she currently stays with my mum cos we're too busy with work and often neglect her..poor thing...so we decided staying with my mum is better for her as there is someone to take care of her full time and give her undivided attention. after seeing your pics makes me miss my furbaby so muchhhh....feel like hugging her now..

Got it at $420 everything in. hi mel, i've replied your PM. actually glass is not really hard to maintain. I have a full glass coffee table as well and i have steamboat on my current dining table as well..so far no problems. I just wipe it with a wet cloth to clean it everytime it seems too dirty. hihi, hv PMed u..gd luck in getting it changed! my current kitchen is all stainless steel...i just use a stainless steel cleaner to wipe it and it becomes sparkling clean...budden there are some stupid stains caused by the wrong chemical we used initially. i've never used glass before but i think it'll look nice cos it matches my black granite top. we tried some experiment on black granite..it doesn't scratch that easily as compared to solid top...but probably dust will b quite obvious. I've yet to decide on the layout of my cabinets..but probably only going to have one row of drawers...anyone knows how much those internal stainless steel fittings cost? My ID say I have to get them on my own and he'll install it foc for me. I probably just need one of those corner shelf unit. he is nice so far..but i wun sing too much of his praises yet cos my reno has yet to start...wait till my reno finish and if i hv no complaints, i'll highly "publicize" him here then. hehe.. Have been sick these past few days but i still manage to drag myself down to meet my ID. We were suppose to sign the quotation and finalize on some details. But thanks to his forgetful brain..he quoted me wrongly on my granite countertop..and the supplier was not able to give him a quote on the materials cost off-hand..so we have to postpone the quotation signing. But managed to sort out the other details amidst my drowsy mood...seems like there are still a couple of changes before we can sign on the dotted line... We managed to get the light we've been eyeing for our dining room...got a good price for it as well. We wanted to order the hood and sink etc but i was too sick to drag myself down to Jalan Besar after the long session with the ID..so we decided to postpone it to next week. Will be meeting the ID again this weekend for my revised 3D drawings...can't wait to see it soon.
