  1. hi, what are the same old sales techniques, if I may? U mean general sales techniques across the board or sales techniques that Brighton uses?
  2. K, all the stuff I bought from Brighton arrived today. Split delivery - apparently one came from Brighton and the dining table came from their supplier. Delivery guy for dining table was a little surly but no matter.. all seems to be good and in order.
  3. I bought a dining table set and bed base from Brighton.. have yet to deliver so will have to update this thread again when it happens ( or not - touch wood) this Thursday. However, my shopping experience at Brighton (IFC branch) was pretty good. Bargained down the price as well. Later that day, I had to go down to change something on the invoice and they (the CS crew) was still nice. When I called last week to delay delivery (1 day in advance) they were okay too. But as I said will update when crux of the matter (delivery and furniture condition) is due.
  4. yah lor.. i found that reply to be off-putting as well. it was like - look, i have read what u said here and i don't want to deal with ur complaints, just speak to my lawyer. i was puzzled why ppl was applauding him on that kinda response.
  5. My terms were: 10% on commencement of works 40% on tiling 40% on start of carpentry 10% on completion and handover But I re-negotiated and I paid 10% on commencement of works, 40% on tiling (they have to buy tiles so cannot nego), then I split the carpentry payments - 20% on start of carpentry and 20% after carpentry and remaining 10% on completion.
  6. I found mine today.. a couple of shops at IFC had marble tables.. rectangular, round and square ones. I got the round 6 seater one..
  7. i should have but i dunno why it didn't occur to me to empty out living room! i didn't even cover all the furniture... when i thought abt it already covered in dust... whoa lao... so i guess i'll just wait til the end or hopefully after the tiling and start cleaning. my fridge is in the balcony.. heh. we have a little pantry there. a bit squeezy cos washing machine and all my utensils and cutlery or are stored in boxes in there as well but at least i get coffee in the morning. better than nothing la.
  8. Renovations on going now.. they are hacking the kitchen as i type while I am hiding out in the bedroom. The level of dust is unbelievable! So in short, it is possible to have a live in reno. But - - everynight i'll mop the floors of the bedrooms that are not undergoing renos. That is, the two 'clean' rooms in the apartment. Not really clean la.. dust will still find their way in. - I covered some furniture but not all, so will be expected a big cleaning session when everything is over. Will definitely have to get pros. - the workers are not paid to think, just work, so it can get frustrating if you're at home with them cos every single thing they have to be instructed.
  9. I think it depends on your ID. But bargaining is definitely the norm. I went to 3 IDs (which seems so little in comparison with what I read here) and asked all of them for discounts. First one suggested cutting things (cut out completely) from the quote. Another one suggested cutting things out from the quote plus 3.5% off GST (GST is not always charged, very much depends on the company) and the last one gave me a discount and suggested alternatives to the stuff I wanted. This is important as he didn't suggest cutting things out totally but offered me more economical ideas. In the end I took on the last company even thought their quote was not the cheapest. Comparing what I was quoted on, his was the most value for money.
  10. Hi, I was wondering where else in Singapore can I get shower curtains cheap other than Ikea?
  11. Can I know where you saw the ones with 6 seaters and their price range? I'm also looking for a round marble dining table but have found only 4 seaters so far. Thanks!
  12. Hi, so did u buy furniture from them? how was ur experience?
  13. any renovation wld require haulage.. there will be debris from hacking, demolition, etc and they store these debris in a container before hauling it away at the end of the process. This is haulage.
  14. Why do u say you were conned? $368 is a lot for a ceiling fan?
