Hi, the advice given to us by our FSM also quite similar to the points you listed. Is your house a BTO? Ours is a BTO so what we did is this: - Hack away existing service yard windows/doors/walls and move the service yard opening to the side instead. - With the above, we are able to create an "L" shape kitchen cabinets. The stove sits on the long side, the basin on the shorter side facing service yard - Fridge is on other side of the "non-L" wall, we didn't built any cabinets here. So only got fridge here and it doesn't face the stove. - Only issue is our built in oven in the tall unit is facing kitchen door.. but we don't think it's an issue. Hope this helps!

We spent about 26K to do our 5-rm, which includes hacking kitchen, 2 toilets, living room floor and redoing all the tiles, kitchen cabinets, painting... so I think 20K is quite reasonable for you.

Usually, I think there won't be tiles behind kitchen cabinets and the cooker hob with glass backing type. But for fridge should have right?

We were quoted the range between $1,400 - $1,600 for 5rm flat, Nippon paint. 5 - 6 colors. But this is the pricing along with our reno works... I happen to see a Nippon paint ad that they have painting services and if i recall correctly, the quote is less than 2K...

Did anyone take up the OCBC reno loan? Is it comparable to RHB's loan? I took up edu loan with RHB before, it's pretty good and the service at RHB was an enjoyable one. But I'm hesitating on reno loan because I find it more troublesome for the repayment portion, through my experience with the edu loan.
